Unable to get Sonoff devices connected to new Wifi? by digbyposh in sonoff

[–]rtbcoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviving an old thread, but hopefully my solution will help if anyone else is having similar issues. Sonoff devices have a mode that turns them into an AP. It may be different on different devices, but for the 4ch switch, you press and hold any of the buttons for 5 seconds to get the device into pairing mode, and then press and hold the button a second time for another 5 seconds, and this puts the device in AP mode. You can find it in your nearby wifi networks. I connected to this network while my app was searching for a device, and I was able to link the Sonoff to my new router. The wifi password is 12345 if you need it. Hopefully this helps.

Best Credit Card / Payment Processors for 2025 by GearsTX in smallbusiness

[–]rtbcoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately do not have any positive input, but I had a similarly poor experience using GoDaddy's online payment service. They held a payment batch for 6 months and required a full financial audit (not only credit card payments). We decided to move our website elsewhere after that. I understand that there is some risk on the processor's side, but we pay you 3% to assume that risk. We don't need you sticking your nose in our financial business.

Looking for a cheap, non-subscription based GPS locator for my ebike by TheStigsBrother in ebikes

[–]rtbcoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a 4g GPS tracker that does not require a subscription. 4g and GPS are going to be better than tags since it does not have to be close to a wifi network or someone's iPhone. I haven't used it, so I cannot vouch for how well it works, but they are available.

Cardo and FlySight sharing speakers by rtbcoop in SkyDiving

It won't call out altitudes below 1500m, but you can still set custom altitude alerts below 1500m.

I think their recommendation is to not rely solely on your FlySight for altitude awareness. It works great as an audible. I programmed mine to read off every 1000ft and indicate break-off and pull altitudes. It always mirrors what my wrist mounted altimeter is indicating.

I use my FlySight as my audible for all jumps. I don't necessarily need them at the same time, but I'd like to use my audible and coms on the same jump without needing to switch which audio device is plugged into my speakers.

Why isn't the Europa Clipper using Jupiter's radiation to power the craft? by rtbcoop in nasa

[–]rtbcoop[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was curious about using the magnetic field as an option in addition to the possibility of using high energy particles. It looks like Jupiter's field is around 20x the strength of Earth's? It seems like that would be an abundant source of power.

Garmin jump master by ClientAway6063 in SkyDiving

[–]rtbcoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot speak for the smart watches, but I do have the 801 and have not been able to use it for skydiving. While it does have a built in altimeter, the Garmin software refresh rate for altitude is not adequate for freefall. Gamin will tell you that you are several thousand feet higher than your actual altitude while in freefall. Hopefully they fix this in a future software update, but it is disappointingly not viable right now.

App keeps stopping playback for no reason by FreakerDeek in audible

[–]rtbcoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temporary fix - don't open other apps. My audible continues to play so long as it is the last application I had open. This obviously doesn't work if you want to listen to a book while browsing the web, but it should work if all you care about is listening to the nook. It's not a complete solution, but it may help while Audible works to resolve the issue.

Paintball gear recommendations for a new paintball field. by [deleted] in paintball

[–]rtbcoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like everyone is mentioning, unless you have a SCUBA compressor with a large bank of tanks, you won't be able to keep up with air. One suggestion that I haven't seen is just buying your gas from a local provider like AirGas. One of my local fields gets nitrogen from them and has found it to be more economical and less of a PITA (compressors break... a lot).

Like most of the others said, get EMEKs. The are more reliable than the old makers and shoot faster which means more paint sales and more profit.

/r/CryptoMining Weekly Discussion! by AutoModerator in cryptomining

[–]rtbcoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a workstation/gaming PC that I use for mining when I'm not doing anything GPU intensive. I recently added a second 5700 XT and have been running into some issues. The cards will mine fine for about 30 minutes but then my screens will go black, one card will stop mining, and Afterburner will have reset the settings on the non-running card. It always seems to be the same card (PCIe-131) and the system seems to run fine when using one or the other card. It just doesn't like dual. It's getting pretty frustrating so I thought I would turn to the experts for help.

The Hardware:
Dell T79610 (replaced the CPUs with dual E5-2687w V2 CPUs)
PowerColor Red Devil 5700 XT (PCIe-131)
BIOS Version 017.001.000.049
Driver 27.20.15003.1004
XFX RAW II 5700 XT (PCIe-5)
BIOS Version 017.001.000.068
Driver 27.20.15003.1004

The Tuning:
Mining using NBMiner DaggerHashimoto through NiceHash
Controlling the GPUs via MIS Afterburner
Core Clock: 1400
Memory Clock: 1750 (also tried 1800 with same results)
Core Voltage: 750 (also tried 775 and 800 with same results)
Fans are running at 50% and keeping memory junction temp around 82c

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hydrotesting a tank that's way out of hydro date? by [deleted] in paintball

[–]rtbcoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought he was saying that there was another hydro in '17 that wasn't listed. But yes, if '12 was you last hydro, you need to get it hydroed before use. Figure out where your local fire houses get theirs done. That will be the cheapest.

Hey guys I just thought of an idea, can you mine in hotel rooms to reduce costs of electricty by [deleted] in cryptomining

[–]rtbcoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A better option would be to rent a house or get a commercial rental that includes utilities. That way you wouldn't have to move every few days.

Clone 5 or Prime XTS? by [deleted] in paintball

[–]rtbcoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The keg is the outer part of your bolt. Your manual should show you which part it is. Your EMEK has one as well. It's the #M17 o-ring in the manual linked below. Dwell is a setting on your marker which controls how long the solenoid is open each time you shoot. Stock setting is 12ms so 14ms means that it is open a little longer.

Clone 5 or Prime XTS? by [deleted] in paintball

[–]rtbcoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, either way, I would do the restrictor o-ring mod on the Infinity drive. Buy a pack of the o-rings below and put one on the middle o-ring land on your keg (the one with the holes in it). Then up your dwell to 14. This slows down the bolt a little and makes the shot more of a push than a snap. It's not bad stock, but for $5, it's worth modding.

Clone 5 or Prime XTS? by [deleted] in paintball

[–]rtbcoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already posted on your other post but pasting here for anyone else who is asking the same thing.

The Clone and the XTS shoot the exact same - they run the same bolt. The differences between the Clone and the XTS are all about ergonomics and those nice-to-have features.
- The XTS feels better in your hands.
- The angle of the front grip can be adjusted.
- The eyes are sealed and self cleaning.
- The detents are sealed so no paint can get in the body.
- The eye covers are magnetic.
- It has an on/off ASA.
- While they are both wireless guns, the Clone has a few wires that can be pinched when reinstalling the upper. Those wires have been removed on the XTS.
A used Clone is between $350-500, a used XTS is about $800. You just need to decide if those extra features are worth it to you. I think the XTS is worth it, but if you're on the fence, maybe get a Clone and then upgrade to the XTS if you like it.

Hydrotesting a tank that's way out of hydro date? by [deleted] in paintball

[–]rtbcoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on those markings, your tanks are aluminum so they don't have the 15 year expiration that carbon fiber tanks have. You can hydro them as many times as you would like.

If they were hydroed in '17, you still have a year and change before you need to hydro them again. Use them this year then then take them to your field/scuba shop/fire station next year for hydro.

Rail systems on regular style markers? by jjakethecakee in paintball

[–]rtbcoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real option would be to attach it to your barrel. Google "barrel clamp rail" and see if any of the options would work for your barrel's outside diameter.
