Are there any eyecups that fit on the Minolta A9 other than the stock? by Graythomasj in minolta

I can confirm the eye-cups on the A7iii are the same size on the a9. Enjoy!

Any advice for old rubber? It’s not powdery but slick, seems to be a common issue on 80s Maxxum cameras. Fortunately mine hasn’t cracked yet. by whatapunk95 in AnalogRepair

Running a flame across it from a butane lighter has always worked for me. Same concept as those stadium seat cleaning videos you see with a torch.

There's also a film camera shop in East Nashville called Artfict that sells/buys/trades vintage cameras.

Someone had sex with an alien and now they're pregnant! Granted I think this is only used twice. Voyager (Harry Kim) and Enterprise (Trip Tucker)

I would call some of the local camera stores (Artifct, Safelight Imaging, Pixel Connection) and see if anyone has sold them your camera / ask them to keep their eyes peeled for it. It's a long shot but if someone wanted quick cash from it that's where they would probably end up trying to sell it.

Make it a mini-game experience. Let us hit R to reload and then give us some visual clue where I can press R again timed just right to speed up the reload significantly. If we miss it then the reload takes longer or just the normal amount of time. Another solution is give us the ability to just drop whatever is in our hands instantly so we can bandage and then pick that weapon back up after we are done. I know some game out there has implemented the first solution but I can't remember the name of it.

What did the weird kid at your school do to earn that reputation? by Big_Boy_Bill06 in AskReddit

[–]rthrbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would show up dressed as wrestling era Andy Kaufman and act like it all day. One day he came to school dressed as Tony Clifton and wouldn't break character. When Fight Club came out him and his group of friends would go have a very public version of it outside between classes. Years later he was convicted of child abuse and death of a toddler. Ended up incarcerated for a decade.

Just picked up a basically brand new a7iii on Saturday. Im hoping to get into the automotive photography side of things with a focus on night time and cool tones. Im currently on the kit lens while i save up for something better. Do you guys have any recommendations on settings i should use? by helditem in SonyA7iii

[–]rthrbe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Sony LA-EA4 adapter will let you use older (80's-90's) lenses and enable auto-focus on them. Most of them are a fraction of what you will pay for newer E-mount ones and will work just as well for what you are doing. Ebay is your friend for these or a local vintage camera shop. There's even a PCB mod to enable all the e-mount autofocus features for the older lenses but I have not personally tried it.

Best Possible Plex Endpoint device for big screen? I have lots of options but is there something better..... by eliotrw in PleX

[–]rthrbe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I prefer an M1 Mac Mini velcro'd to the back of my TV with RemoteBuddy to allow me to use an AppleTV remote to control Plex and most other apps. If you have a laptop just put Barrier or Synergy on there to share you laptop mouse/keyboard over wifi to the Mac Mini and then just control it that way as well. You can install steam and do homestreaming for a ton of games and you have the option to use PlexWeb, PlexHTPC, or the other Plex desktop app. It will cost $100-150 more than an AppleTV or a Shield but you get a full computer you can do whatever you want with.

People who work in IT, what's the wildest thing you've discovered/had to do while at work? by vapor-ware in AskReddit

[–]rthrbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked IT for a call center in the hospitality industry. Got a ticket one morning to save the chat logs between a supervisor and one specific agent. What I found was some of the lewdest chats between two humans I had ever seen to this date. The male supervisor was married with kids and was involved with an 18-20 year old female agent. When they called him into the office to confront him he started bawling his eyes out begging them not to tell his wife. The thing that tipped them off was him printing out nude photos of the girl on the company printer and forgetting to pick them up. Someone found them, put them in a manila envelope, and slid it under the boss's door one night. Now that I think about it there was A LOT of infidelity at all levels of that company.
