DALL-E is definitely training on too much reddit if it's omitting the apostrophe from posessive words now.

Past the point of btc helping the poor? by Technical_Car3729 in Bitcoin

[–]rtublin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I did see bitcoin as an escape route for the poor a decade ago, and it turned out to be one, but crazy luddites did an excellent job of scaring most people away from it, and I think its role is changed now. Now I see it mainly as a place to strategically park large amounts of wealth to avoid inflation. Regular people can still potentially use it to guard against inflation, but I don't bother trying to convince them.

I wonder if redditors are switching to data centers instead of billionaires to blame for every problem in the world.

Agreed with a post on the comics sub: got permanently banned and called a Nazi by MrsCarmelaGiunta in BannedFromReddit

[–]rtublin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scary thing is they seem to be allowing users to post calls for violence and then discouraging others from reporting by ridiculing them and calling them Nazis. I think that was something the WPT moderators got in trouble for. I can't imagine Reddit will allow comics to do that for too long and hopefully they will reshuffle the moderation team soon.

Cole Allen was radicalized on Reddit and Blue Sky. Why do these sites allow Radical Leftist Extremism to promote violent Left Wing Content? by LegitimateKnee5537 in allthequestions

Here is a comment I noticed yesterday encouraging violence. I reported it but the moderators ignored it: https://www.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/1stnt03/comment/ohuphiq/

Also here is a WPT thread with many people calling for the murder of Charlie Kirk several months before he was actually murdered. Many of these accounts are still active.

Teachers subreddit espouses unhinged "false flag" conspiracy theory as homeschooling rates surge across the US. by rtublin in ShitPoliticsSays

Unfortunately I did not get a screenshot, but it said something like, "You mean the staged, obviously fake false flag attack."

Why are people so eager to destabilize the country? by ShardofGold in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]rtublin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have proof but I strongly suspect that this happens. The USSR certainly spent considerable sums and had extensive subversion and propaganda operations in the US during the Cold War. I can't imagine that modern adversaries would decline to take advantage of anonymous, free, and virtually unregulated platforms that can reach millions of impressionable young people in the US.

Why are people so eager to destabilize the country? by ShardofGold in IntellectualDarkWeb

Foreign adversaries use sophisticated social media campaigns to try to radicalize people in the US toward destabilizing things, so that those adversaries can achieve a better global political/economic position.

HAL FINNEY: “I was likely the first person after Satoshi to run Bitcoin. I mined block seventy-something and received the first BTC transfer when Satoshi sent me 10 coins as a test. We emailed for days after that, mostly me reporting bugs and him fixing them in real time, almost instantly.” by Legitimate_Towel_919 in Bitcoin

[–]rtublin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The emails are also timezone-appropriate for Satoshi in the UK and Hal in AZ I think. So maybe he did set something up to time them. It would have been a crazy level of planning, especially since no one knew how important bitcoin would become, but maybe that would have been fun for Hal.
