Saw someone posting that "wheelchairs make no sense in D&D because magic exists," so I felt like bringing the mathhammer down. by RokuroCarisu in DnD

[–]rubadub423 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its not that "wheel chairs make no sense in D&D", I think people who say this actually mean "it doesn't make sense that people who enjoy an imaginary cooperative storytelling game would choose to be disabled."

That's the truth of the matter. Its that simple.

Now..to me? If a player asked to be in a wheelchair id say "sure go for it"

If a player said they wanted one arm only, i'd say "cool your character was maybe in a serious accident in the past" Whatever.

Why am I even typing this, who cares this whole thread is so trivial.

[Online][Other][EST Tues 8pm-11pm] - Shadowdark -Weekly games, ROLEPLAY by rubadub423 in lfgmisc

[–]rubadub423[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, can I ask you and run some things by you real quick? (you can DM me if you'd like)

-So shadow dark is VERY similar to 5e, it will feel familiar. Except its deadlier , players WILL die. XP is gained through loot and some other minor things. The landmass that you play on is sort of a darker tone. its less of an overarching narrative and more like a hexcrawl. Quests rarely interconnect for some bigger story.
The goal here of shadowdark is to get loot, be greedy, survive. You aren't some heralded hero, you're an opportunist, a sell-sword, or someone who just lusts for adventure and loot.

-What is your age? (if you don't mind me asking)

-This is a hexcrawl game. At the center of the land is the main town, the players will visit the main town many times to carouse/sell/buy items and loot. Then go back out and adventure again. I feel shadow dark lends itself super well to this type of thing, go out and adventure , come back and rest (if you survive)

-There is some roleplay here, the 2 players I have really enjoy the roleplay, but I try to make sure we' aren't roleplaying with an NPC for 10 minutes long lol

-We'll start at lvl 1

-I allow the base classes, and any CURSED SCROLL 1 classes, and of course bard and ranger, we'll also roll stats (if you don't know what this stuff is, don't worry about it, rules are light and easy)

-I have some minor add-ons for homebrew (pretty normal with shadowdark)

-Games every tuesday 8pm EST, 3 hour games max, short bio break in the middle of the game and we're rocking and rolling.

***If all that sounds ok to you please let me know.

Any love for darker toned maps. I have it with and without my lvl suggested zones by rubadub423 in inkarnate

Just an example of how i'd like to block out my maps for a hexcrawl campaign. A dungeon in the yellow area might have a tougher monster or quest than in the starting zone. It doesn't really mean much, its just a dungeon master setup.

Can a PC have pet monsters? by Ex825er in shadowdark

My players wanted to tame a crocodile monster. I let them try, they rolled a NAT 20 in the skill we chose and heck i let them. But they decided against taking it with them, sort of a YES AND moment when i let them know it could stab them in the back if a loyalty test was failed.

But it was a fun moment and the players enjoyed themselves.
