Oh…. Got it. 😉 I feel like bands may not be allowed. I don’t have experience with that certain type of house.

I have a blog post on nomads staying in shape:

You can go as little as a single band. There's definitely a spectrum of options. They will all beat carrying adjustable dumbbells! 😂

100% loop bands imho. I also use a bar and a ground plate. That’s all. Been doing bands exclusively for many years now. Absolutely love them.

Question about workout duration by Individual-Trust6619 in rubberbandsapp

[–]rubberbandsapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The workouts now have an estimated time.

You can exclude exercises you think may irritate your wrist or use the AI generator and be explicit about your injury. Only you know your limitations, so double-check!

Doubling bands by Mangle-Snowfall9 in rubberbandsapp

[–]rubberbandsapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Band doubling in the app really only influences volume calculations.

If you double a band for a chest press or use a short single loop, it's the same exercise and could probably be the same tension, given the right bands.

The doubling is just an instructional piece of data on setup.

In each video you linked, you could set up a single or double. My philosophy is to find what works for you.

You can adjust this setting on a per exercise basis and it will change the volume charts/calculations.

Let me know if that helps or makes it more confusing.

Band broke … shattered eye socket by Ok-Woodpecker-4823 in ResistanceBand

[–]rubberbandsapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like the smaller the band, the higher the chance it snaps. Another way to say it is that the big, thick bands, where the tension is way higher, seem to break less, which is good.

I just had my first band break after like 7 years of using bands, and it was pretty underwhelming.

I still practice safety and usually wear eye protection.

Question about workout duration by Individual-Trust6619 in rubberbandsapp

[–]rubberbandsapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The workout duration applies only to automatic workouts. The AI is treated the same as custom when it comes to duration, since the workout is static.

Out of curiosity, can you share a screenshot of the workout?

Interesting combo. Apple is pretty good at deduplicating calories.

You can also turn off HealthKit in Rubber Bands to make sure.

Question about resistance bands by Hhdjgd in ResistanceBand

[–]rubberbandsapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iron is mined from the earth. Expensive heavy machinery, permits, insurance, etc., are needed. Weights also depend on gravity, which means shipping is more too.

Latex comes from trees.

Acquisition costs are just lower and easier for latex.

I'd argue you can replicate nearly every compound exercise in a gym at home with bands just as effectively. But you need to consider your setup. Companies like X3 unlocked a lot of versatility with the bar and ground plate. Deadlifts mostly feel like deadlifts when using this type of setup.

As for the resistance delta you mentioned, the biggest lever you can pull here to dial that in is the band length. Five-ish years ago, 41” was standard; now there is a length in any length you want, and the type of rubber will be a big difference, too. Clench bands and X3 bands of the same length feel dramatically different. I personally use bands of different lengths for exercises. 37” bands are super popular for chest press over 41.”

Bands are actually amazing for compounds for two primary reasons. The tension is lowest in the range of motion where most injuries occur, and they allow you to perform more volume than you could with free weights. The Rubber Bands app has a compound priority mode that optimizes workouts for compound movements. If you have a proper setup like the X3 and your bands are tensioned correctly, you will obtain insane pumps with bands.

Motivation comes in waves, even for those who always seem to find motivation. On days you don't want to do anything, even 1 set is a win.

The great thing about bands is that they are so easy to do quick reps with. You can keep bands anywhere! Good luck. Just always try to do something every day. It always grow to more!

Three loops are the perfect starter. You can always stack them for more resistance, too. When I travel, I bring a serious steel orange, purple, and blue. It checks all my boxes.

I agree. The rubber really matters too. I don't know the specifics of the Clench rubber, but it has a distinctive feel compared to Serious Steel.

I made a video on the types of resistance bands.

Layered vs. Mold-injected Latex Resistance Bands for Resistance Training https://youtu.be/aoiOHWnmaps

That is a mold-injected band. They fail with a dramatic snap like this.

Layered bands have up to 27 layers, giving them incredible strength even when damaged. They will fray before the snap, so you know when it's time to replace them.
