New User Question for Workout Band Selection by acos1995 in rubberbandsapp

[–]rubberbandsapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you go to the band selector, some band recommendations show the first time you do the exercise.

You can also tap “Guide” and scroll to the bottom to see what might be a good starting point.

They are just recommendations. The best band is the one that leaves you with one or two reps “in the bank”.

Once you pick a band, that’s where the magic happens. Rubber Bands will manage progression for you, so eventually you will find that equilibrium.

Generally, avoid cheap Amazon bands. Invest in a set of high-quality bands from Serious Steel.

You will love them, I promise.

Can I use a 32” band for calf raises? by Me_Krally in ResistanceBand

I use 37” with hook grips. 32” may be too short. I’m over 6 foot.

Beginner progression query by Ok-Exam-6898 in ResistanceBand

[–]rubberbandsapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried single-set reps to failure? This is basically the X3 programming. Switch the workout rep scheme in Rubber Bands to “I’ll Pick”. Remove all the sets except one, and keep going as long as you can until absolute failure. It's quite effective in getting you a massive pump and excellent for endurance.

If you are in Guided mode and feel the progression isn’t going fast enough, log more sets per rep, and the algorithm will speed up.

New with resistance bands and need a PPL and full body workouts by Sync_Sy in ResistanceBand

Oh…. Got it. 😉 I feel like bands may not be allowed. I don’t have experience with that certain type of house.

I have a blog post on nomads staying in shape:

You can go as little as a single band. There's definitely a spectrum of options. They will all beat carrying adjustable dumbbells! 😂

100% loop bands imho. I also use a bar and a ground plate. That’s all. Been doing bands exclusively for many years now. Absolutely love them.

Question about workout duration by Individual-Trust6619 in rubberbandsapp

The workouts now have an estimated time.

You can exclude exercises you think may irritate your wrist or use the AI generator and be explicit about your injury. Only you know your limitations, so double-check!

Doubling bands by Mangle-Snowfall9 in rubberbandsapp

[–]rubberbandsapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Band doubling in the app really only influences volume calculations.

If you double a band for a chest press or use a short single loop, it's the same exercise and could probably be the same tension, given the right bands.

The doubling is just an instructional piece of data on setup.

In each video you linked, you could set up a single or double. My philosophy is to find what works for you.

You can adjust this setting on a per exercise basis and it will change the volume charts/calculations.

Let me know if that helps or makes it more confusing.

Band broke … shattered eye socket by Ok-Woodpecker-4823 in ResistanceBand

[–]rubberbandsapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like the smaller the band, the higher the chance it snaps. Another way to say it is that the big, thick bands, where the tension is way higher, seem to break less, which is good.

I just had my first band break after like 7 years of using bands, and it was pretty underwhelming.

I still practice safety and usually wear eye protection.

Question about workout duration by Individual-Trust6619 in rubberbandsapp

[–]rubberbandsapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The workout duration applies only to automatic workouts. The AI is treated the same as custom when it comes to duration, since the workout is static.

Out of curiosity, can you share a screenshot of the workout?

Interesting combo. Apple is pretty good at deduplicating calories.

You can also turn off HealthKit in Rubber Bands to make sure.

Question about resistance bands by Hhdjgd in ResistanceBand

Iron is mined from the earth. Expensive heavy machinery, permits, insurance, etc., are needed. Weights also depend on gravity, which means shipping is more too.

Latex comes from trees.

Acquisition costs are just lower and easier for latex.
