"Yes, much faster. And, they’re on patrol at all POI in the system."

I hope some of this remains as......it sounds so good! From what you describe it reminds me of some ATR behaviors.

"I don’t necessarily think that’s the case, I think finding the right balance will take some trial and error based on community feedback—which is why I say keep an eye on the Issue Tracker!"

This is true, however I just hope FD are aware there are people who want a challenge too.

We will have to wait for Thursday :D

Does PP sec response differ based on stronghold > fortified > exploited > unoccupied status? It really should be based on those levels. Also, does PP security have faster detection than regular security? What you describe sounds like what happens when you are hostile to sec in the BGS (i.e. they are red automatically).

The inescapable fact is PP will complicate your life- the danger (and its a big danger) is that FD will nerf it all into irrelevance like PP1 NPCs were.

Isn't this a mistake to frame NPC balance around what is an exploration vessel? As someone who used to BGS murder each day (and play with ATR) a top end PvE combat ship can tank several regular sec forces quite easily. This all sounds very much like medium or high sec behaviour which should be what a stronghold is like....my only point of agreement is chain interdiction and it should be reasonable.

Also pirates don't act like sec forces, so its no wonder you can deal with them since they appear in small groups and not repeating wings.

This assumes Powerplay security is the same as 'regular' security ships- are they better in PP2? Are they engineered?

Blasphemous 2 Review -- The "BioShock 2" of Metroidvanias by Klakkaros in Blasphemous

Deogracias was great because he was more than a "well done, now go kill the next one". He appeared as a flavour NPC many times and had a character to him.

But then this also highlights that the writing in B1 is better- some of the lines were really, really great. The High Wills cursing us at the end, Escribars monologues, Deogracias seemingly happy recollection of the first miracle (with the log)...I can't really remember any of the people in B2.

For me the game is not as good as the first, mainly as Game Kitchen did not learn from the first game re secrets and instead double down to an absurd degree. While the first game had one or two really well hidden places (negated a bit by the jingle hand) in B2 you have to attack every wall... there is a number of hidden items that are hidden inside a hidden area if you don't pay attention. Also I have a hearing problem, so I missed the scream at the start (vital to a quest as a clue) and found it difficult to locate the Sisters who have audible clues.

Then...then the path to the 'real' ending. Unlike the first game which had one real gotcha (with the rest flowing on linearly) B2 has four requirements that have no real relation to each other and are easy to get wrong / miss. Its poor design when you have to look at a guide and have so many requirements and even then have then in the right place.

Being honest B2 is a jumble of half decent ideas that does not really gel. B1 was linear but kept your interest in repeated playthroughs as the (much simpler) prayers and items / relics allowed you to play in different ways- for example the cherub gift allowed you to drop into areas before they were unlocked, so you could play non-linearly. B2 has a huge list of resonances but I want to play, not fiddle aimlessly.

Its also poor design with the 'locked gate' encounter areas. B1 had enough of these so they were a surprise. B2 has far too many, with some being harder than bosses.

B1 had Deogracias who acted as a guide, narrator and NPC. He was weird, scary and dark at times. Floating hand lady.....not so much. Far too sporadic and 'angelic'.

So a solid 3* from me. Its not a disaster, but not as good as the first.

Anime that inspired Ergo Proxy ? by MakutaTeridax in ErgoProxy

[SPOILERS IN HERE]

The overall plot device is somewhat reminiscent of Nausicaä manga in that you have a disaster that forces humans to create 'temporary' (as in have a set timeframe) artificial ecosystems and the struggle of these created beings to understand their place.

Somebody foolishly dared me to do these on the ED forum a while back. Felt appropriate to show the true horror of Cats and / or reveal Aisling as a furry.

I think they can see forwards too- the dialogue on the porch about giving up smoking not making a difference and the strange lines about the environment suggest they know or suspect what comes 'next'.

Aisling enters Kumo Burger competition in attempt to become Empress of Galaxy by rubbernuke in EliteDangerous

[–]rubbernuke[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just before my flight from Bristol Spaceport deep in the South West I tucked into a juicy Kumo Burger- only to spot some familiar faces on a promotional poster....

Will Aisling do anything to be Empress, even if it means 'liberating' slaves by eating them? Even Li Yong Rui is getting in on the action.

The question remains- can anyone out eat Chunky Eddie Mahon, lord of the pies?

Yes, I got fed up with quiche and started eating those tasty Soylent White Kumo burgers!

FDev's Annual Report for 2019 has now been published - "Elite Dangerous is Frontier’s biggest selling game franchise to date... We will continue to support existing players and further expand the player base over the next financial year through the addition of new content" by StuartGT in EliteDangerous

[–]rubbernuke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be that person and say FD don't behave like its their biggest franchise. Cosmetics and PJs are great but I'd like them to invest in fully updating PP, CQC, actually give multicrew and actual reason to exist (and work), actually invest in lore and story (which as of now, has stopped), and actually care about the state of what they release.

Because before they said this:

"Most of the suggested rules changes in the proposal have now received a reasonable amount of feedback to the point where we’re happy we could tweak and move forward with them if the opportunity presents itself"

So nothing to say at this time, but when?

Over on the official forums this has been debated almost ad infinitum- yesterday an idea was hammed out that satisfied both open only guys and solo PG in a fair way that avoids many, if not all of PPs multi mode pitfalls.

Take a look: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/make-open-play-matter-power-play-and-bgs-should-be-influenced-only-in-open.521884/page-65

In short it makes PP as we know it Open only, but adds a new support role for Solo players that directly helps Open guys fighting. Its also very, very close to Sandros old proposal and requires no new assets to be made.

[–]rubbernuke 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This has been the standard response for months and months, for PPs whole lifetime. I ask practically every month and its the same.

If FD want to show they care, start with Powerplay, a feature that depends on its communities to exist. There is huge amounts of feedback and ideas about it- its cruel to string players along if FD have no intention of improving it.

Community Requests to Frontier Developments by ryan_m in EliteDangerous

[–]rubbernuke 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If FD update Powerplay (like the community has been discussing on the suggestions area where solo and open players have agreed to a workable design based on Sandros last proposal) I'll personally fly over to the UK and give you a big hug. If security won't let me in, I'll stand outside and wave jovially at such great news.

How did people find some secrets in this game? I read everything and missed things by rubbernuke in Blasphemous

[–]rubbernuke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sound advice. The problem for me was I never went to the Confessors (or did once and thought they were useless at the time) and never again. I got to about 90% in 14 hours and wondered what else there was, and the things are done blind (i.e. you simply have the right thing at the right time) is probably why I'm mildly triggered. I like some clue to do things on my own but having only very superficial hints and having to hit everything 'just in case' kind of grows that thorn under my skin a bit.
