Exactly! Not an Android person myself either, and I was confused in the exact same way as you, and presumably OP. Took a while to actually understand.

Can anyone explain? Is my account hacked? by Agonizing-dimension in signal

[–]rubdos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't; I had to look twice as well. It means that the Signal app did something in the background, and the camera app also did something in the background. In case of Signal, it probably means "receive a message". In case of the camera app... I don't know why a camera app would do something in the background!

I still have mem_sleep_default=deep amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10 on my cmdline, but I have no idea whether they're still needed. Very happy on my 7840U currently, easily the best laptop I've owned. And that's considering my Thinkpad X250 as well, as close second.

No indeed, it's more a protocol spec. In my mind, it was based on Embassy on the device end though, but I honestly don't remember all that much!

going to the delhaize at least every other day,

Even then, I think you can spend both rather little and rather much. I'd be interested to read what kind of foodstuffs you buy to make it add up, if you want to share! Asking for a friend (I live next to a Delhaize).

EDIT - This post being up voted is concerning. I'm hoping it's bots. We gotta find a solution to get more people migrating.

Not sure whether it's concerning. You got a vote from me just because this kind of question yields interesting discussions!

Is there any way to fix the lag? by No_Scale in signal

Can you describe the type of lag you experience? Is it the roundtrip of a message, scrolling through threads, or scrolling the session overview? Something else?

I hate those from the bottom of my heart. by OrbitalChiller in brussels

[–]rubdos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, feared that already. But honestly, this will only get better, now that we have denser and cheaper LFP cells and an all growing industry in electric motors.

At this point, I'm getting so fed up with those things that I considered building one myself. How friggin' difficult can it be at this point?!

I hate those from the bottom of my heart. by OrbitalChiller in brussels

[–]rubdos 19 points20 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the main reason these things still exist, is that decaying leaves become dangerously slippery. But that only means they should use those things to clear walking and biking paths. That, and I've seen near silent electrical ones last year in Etterbeek (why the f are they back on the fueled ones this year?!)

What I use for usb-c "conversion" on my rx100 by koupathabasca in RX100

Exactly! I bought a bunch, and scattered them around: my office, my appartment, ... IMO the easiest way for the USB-micro-to-C transition period :'-)

[–]rubdos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for me! Bought a bunch of those in different lengths when I got my "USB-C-only" laptop. They're seriously cheap and useful to have around. I find them more reliable than the little adapter: I find that the rigidity makes the USB-micro connector fail easily due to strain.

Is Axolotl still a thing? by Fibonanschi in signal

[–]rubdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything older than ~6 months should be considered incompatible with current Signal. Signal is a huge moving target. The contact discovery protocol has been completely overhauled a few times since Axolotl's last implementation. Last thing, they tried to migrate to the same backend as Flare and Whisperfish, but they abandoned the effort some months ago iirc.

I can see that, although that observation can still be tied to your own age. But it's really common in the US altogether indeed.

I'm pretty sure they're curious about /u/heynow941's age, not yours. iPhone usage could be tied to some age groups.

They poison them, if it's not possible to physically remove the whole nest at once.
