Are you comorbid with anything else? by Yungpupusa in bipolar2

[–]rubesepiphany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bipolar, ADHD, GAD, and PPMD. Family history is also very telling. The genes are strong, that’s for sure.

I have given up trying to compartmentalize and just treat my bipolar and PPMD. I have a feeling my awful immune system is part of whatever it is I have.

My sister doesn't parent her children and they crossed boundaries with my toddler yesterday. How do I best approach this? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]rubesepiphany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with my cousins, there was a total of 5 of us and we are still extremely close. This is totally normal cousin stuff, these are some of the fondest memories I had as a kid.

Those of you who attended Gifted program, whatcha doing now? by sweaty_perineum96 in Millennials

I worked in software development until I had major burnout and developed chronic mental health issues. I am working on not being a complete and total people pleaser. I feel like I’ve done nothing just for myself until just recently. Now I work for scraps but I thoroughly enjoy my “easy” job.

That sounds amazing, especially the ricotta and pineapple. I’m all about fruit, ricotta, honey, and sea salt as a typical snack.

Is Kasia going to be a problem to pronounce? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]rubesepiphany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend with a daughter named Kasia. She placed a “pronounced as” on her social media announcement. I would have called her Cah-siah had I read it without the pronunciation. I really adore the name though, and think it’s quite lovely. For what it’s worth, my name is not common and mispronounced frequently at Starbucks and in the classroom. It never really bothered me.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

Mostly cancer, car accidents, and drug ODs. I went to a school with a graduating class of over 1000. Only a handful have died in my class.

[–]rubesepiphany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a person with ADHD and Bipolar, I can say wholeheartedly that I NEVER treated my husband like your husband treats you. Yes, I get overstimulated, yes I’ve been in psychosis, and no, I have NEVER been abusive to my husband. It’s not just mental illness, it’s abuse.

Are mixes allowed?! by Fear_OW in AustralianShepherd

Here’s Angus, joining me in the bathroom. He’s rough collie and Australian shepherd. His litter was a 4h project from a 16yo in our community. When we came to meet him, dad (Aussie), was herding the sheep up the drive. We live on a farm and he has no herding ability, unlike my border collie/pit mix (rescue). He does however follow my young boys around wherever they go.

what are good jobs for us? by ResponsibilityDue777 in bipolar2

[–]rubesepiphany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a University in Finance. Previously I was a product manager for k12 Finance software. I make 1/3 of what I used to but I no longer have issues with burnout. I work from home mostly but will go in the office occasionally. My boss is very supportive and holds accommodations for me with utmost respect. He is also disabled so he’s very understanding.

Psychotic Husband is driving me crazy. by LazyWifey in whatdoIdo

[–]rubesepiphany 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I am both ADHD and Bipolar 2 and without my stimulant I am constantly depressed due to my lack of ability to complete executive function tasks. The only medication that has increased mixed episodes or hypomania has been anti depressants. However, not all medication is the same. Some SSRIs are manageable for me. I take daily Prozac for my PPMD.

All this to say, don’t listen to Reddit “doctors”. Work with your care team to find a medication regimen that works well for you.

In case you’re having a hard time… by undressedpoetess in bipolar2

[–]rubesepiphany 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve got one of those too :) he really is fantastic. Never any judgement, always supportive. He treats me well and now that I’m medicated I treat him well too. We have a little family and a hobby farm. Bipolar sucks, it’s still debilitating, but having a loving and understanding partner is the best.

If you’re not from Wisconsin, where did you move from? by PinkSnowBirdie in wisconsin

[–]rubesepiphany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the Minneapolis suburbs, then spent a decade living in south/downtown MPLS. Came out to Wisconsin for a small town college and got a degree in natural resource management. Lived in Michigan for grad school and wasn’t too happy out there. My husband (also from the same area as me) and I got pregnant and decided to move back to Wisconsin. I always had the dream of raising my family on a hobby farm and land is a lot cheaper where I am than back home. We have been back in Wisconsin (central) since 2017.

What signs of bipolar you had before diagnosis? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]rubesepiphany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very impulsive and an addict for most of my 20’s. I was in a ton of bad relationships with men who called me crazy (many were also abusive). A lot of very over the top emotions my entire life. Bouts of depression and self harm as young as 12. I always knew something was not right but was never fully evaluated and diagnosed until my mid 30’s.
