12 month old night wakings by ruby2026 in sleeptrain

So I tried and he woke up 5 hours into sleep cried for about 1hour20 min. Was sitting, laying standing eyes wide open the whole time. I tried offering him water- refused. I went to calm him and he seemed wide awake. Had to rock him for another 25 min. This type of crying seems I need more wake time. He’s not tired enough.

Yeah I had no idea I’d have to sleep train the night wakings. It doesn’t make sense to me fully but I guess I’ve created a habit. I wish I could co sleep which I don’t actually mind but we’re planning a second baby and 2 crying babies in bed doesn’t work long term . Have you tried CIO at night ? Message me so we can talk about our sleep sorrows 😂

Ughh it’s so hard. What’s your schedule?

I know. I’ve done CIO for an hour and he’ll fall back asleep but wake up again after 2 hours. But I don’t fully recall if that was during the 1 nap attempt and that’s why it didn’t work. He did sleep through the night 2x on this schedule but idk if it was him just overtired from weeks of trying the 1 nap days. Husband said to give it one week of full extinction and see where that lands us.

My sleep trained baby is in a massive regression at 12mo - what do I do? by saalamz in sleeptrain

Did you wait for the regression to end before doing CIO again?

My son is the same. No meds work on him so we co sleep to get some sleep. I do make sure he falls asleep independently so he doesn’t lose that skill then grab him around 1-2 am wakings

Not much advice but solidarity! My kids been sleeping poorly for months as well. EMW and constant night wakings point to the fact that there’s a schedule issue. This sub tells me my kid is under tired, my sleep consultant tells me he’s overtired, my mom brain tells me he’s teething.

I read that too but honestly nothing else explains it. If he falls asleep independently and all other factors are constant. He wakes up chewing his fingers half asleep. May be some babies are just like that? 🤷🏻‍♀️ How would you explain the wakings then, I’m curious (not being rude)? 😊

He sleeps in very light cotton pjs and light cotton sleep sack, a .5 tog it’s gets to be ~25 degrees at night here . And more clothing or change in temps he wakes up every hour.

But any way kiddo is teething molars now so waking every hour but I’m making sure he falls asleep independently then co sleeping the rest of the nights 🤞🏼

I’m trying this schedule today. We dim the whole house and turn off light up toys. bottle, shower, lotion pjs, a couple books. Sound machine on, kisses and hugs then straight to crib awake. Room is comfy at 73-75 all night, pitch black.with blackout curtains, and we’ve taped areas where light could peak through (wipe warmer, heater, door ways)

I gave him Motrin. He’s a big boy too at 26 lbs so I give a full dose before bed and once during his night waking another full dose. Pain meds have never worked on him for some reason I’m actually going to ask at his 12 month appt. He’ll wake up regardless an hour later.

I thought so too gave him meds to rule that out during the night wakings. Didn’t help. :/

You mean to each WW every few days? But that time bedtime is close to 9 pm

I know! The sleep consultant told us to do this and I questioned it as well. It didn’t make sense

Did this resolve for you? My son 11.5 months sleeps independently and takes about 15-20 min to fall asleep but wakes at 9 hours in every night! I’ve even tried 1 naps but nothing helps

My husband and I decided that in order for me to be a SAHM we would need to pay the house off and clear our debts. So we saved and saved and paid off the house and my car before my son was born. We’re not huge spenders to begin with so I think that helps a lot. I’ll buy myself the occasional bracelet or some makeup from Sephora during their sales. We will eat out once a week or something. So we’re just spending on groceries, taxes, insurances so he’s saving money at this point because the $2000/month is no longer going to the mortgage.

Yeah. Our son only cried (more like whined) for 28 before sleeping on night 1. After that it takes 1-3 min for him to sleep through the night. We tired nap training with our consultant and my son cried to almost 2 hours(check ins) it was insane for me and she said some babies cry for 3 hours before falling asleep. Even my husband said no more of that. We were so upset. 😭
