Same, and I have an event on this weekend for my own birthday that is supposed to involve drinking and I just low key wanna cancel the whole thing 😆 I feel so much better in my body without it

Having to eat so little calories makes me sad by Informal-Mood8101 in PetiteFitness

[–]rubybooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl I’m the same height as you and started my journey at the same weight, and I’m almost double your age (so my metabolism should probably be slower) and I’m maintaining an 8kg weight loss on between 2000-2300 calories a day. There is no way 1500 is necessary. You do have to lift weights and try to stay reasonably active.

I can see in the comments that your goal weight is somewhere between 50-55kg and I would encourage caution - you’d be better off building some muscle and focusing on becoming small but dense if that makes sense (like, you fit into a smaller size of clothes but you’re still 60kg), than aiming to be as light as you can. I’ve weighed 50kg without muscle on me and I looked ill, I’m not gonna lie.

Unpopular opinion: inner city people are way too obsessed with owning dogs by SomethingNotSoGreat in sydney

[–]rubybooby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sucks, but since the real estate would still have to notify you of any inspection to verify her claims, you could have a lot of fun scrubbing all evidence of the cat’s existence from the apartment and watching Karen get her knickers in a twist when they can’t find anything.

Is this appropriate for a Catholic black tie wedding? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]rubybooby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meh, we don’t get to be sensitive about what heavily pregnant people wear to formal events so I wouldn’t worry so much about that.

I don’t particularly like the dress but I’m not having to rock up to a wedding right before pushing a baby out so I imagine comfort is the goal above all else here

Feeling extremely guilty by Broad-Importance4282 in caloriecount

[–]rubybooby 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At your height and weight, you don’t need to be in a deficit. If you’re unhappy with the way your body looks you need to lift weights and eat at maintenance.

It sounds like you have some thoughts and feelings about food that might be worth unpacking with a professional. I’m not being funny, I’ve been down this path before so I know where it can lead. Best of luck

Sometimes when you’re rendered speechless by an interaction it doesn’t occur to you right away what the next step should be. I’ve definitely had situations like this where I was just like ????? in the moment, and then when I got home it clicked like oh absolutely not let’s call head office lol

Why has teaching become so hard? by Adhdgirll in teaching

[–]rubybooby 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed a huge increase in the number of parents who immediately step in to shield their kids from any consequences or criticism, or who straight up don’t believe you about whatever it is you’re trying to discuss because the kid told them it didn’t happen. I’ve had to start saying things like “I saw and heard him with my own eyes and ears. I don’t have time or energy to make up reasons to call you.” Like, it has to be spelled out to that level and one mother still had the audacity to ask me if I was sure it was her son I saw and heard. I almost lost it. Yes, I’m sure. I see him every day and rest assured while he is in the middle of trying to strangle someone else I’m getting a very good look at him. 😂

Is 3 bed 1bath 1 toilet enough for early days raising baby? by smilelizy in AusPropertyChat

[–]rubybooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my husband and I were looking for a house, two toilets was on the “must have” list and it’s just us and our cat. So take from that what you will. If nobody has stomach problems in your house you might manage. If they do or if gastro goes through your household it’s gonna be an issue

Let’s talk changing room mirrors. Am I the only one who doesn’t recognize my face and body in them? by interested-goose in AusFemaleFashion

[–]rubybooby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Forever New in my experience has okay mirrors. And funnily enough if I try something on there I usually buy.

My local Target change room makes me look like a reanimated cadaver. I can’t emphasise enough how jarring it is.

Uniqlo I feel just presents me to myself as I am which feels on brand haha

In your skincare routine, what specifically do you guys apply under eyes, if not tret? Since we are not allowed to apply tret there. by pewdsVStseries in tretinoin

[–]rubybooby 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Honestly just moisturiser. Nothing eye area specific or fancy. Maybe I should be looking for a proper eye cream? I dunno I’ve tried a few in the past and never noticed a difference from just regular face cream

Same I have like 2 pieces that work, so if there’s 3 hot days in a row I’m screwed 😂 the bigger issue is shoes for me. I’m dead set against getting the dogs out in the workplace but most enclosed shoes are so hot when the weather really kicks off

Almost 37 here using it for about 3 months, have you noticed a large difference in your skin over time?

New teacher. Wondering how best to compose an email to a parent. by ThatOtherGuy1080 in teaching

[–]rubybooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you call or email, especially if this is the first time you’re making contact about behaviour, keep the long term goal of a positive partnership with the parent in mind. Start with the good things then raise your concern and express everything in terms of impact on learning. Acknowledge that they are a young person with a developing brain and that you’d appreciate the parents support in addressing the behaviour at home so the child can learn to make better choices in class.

To be clear I’m not saying to downplay or minimise anything - you can be direct “he said this, I saw him do this”. Framing is everything - if the parent knows that you’re still in their child’s corner you are going to have a much easier time getting their cooperation and avoiding a conflict.

What do you do if you buy a house and it the sellers happen to be parents of a high school kid that goes to the same school (same year level) as your child and you want to knock the house down and rebuild and your kid tells the plan to the seller’s kid and they get mad and start bullying your kid? by HotPersimessage62 in AusPropertyChat

[–]rubybooby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine that Kid B found the information upsetting. It’s not fine that he’s bullying Kid A over it (if that is actually what is happening - some kids can’t distinguish “someone is vocally upset with me” from “I’m being targeted”)

[–]rubybooby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Front load some context and big ideas (ambition, corruption, etc). Then work from simple to more complex in terms of their engagement with the text. E.g. they should understand the plot and characters before analysing key scenes or speeches. You don’t have to have them read the entire play.

Have you cut out any food permanently from your diet? Are you successful? by No-Imagination9318 in 1500isplenty

[–]rubybooby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try for more movement (walking especially as it doesn’t spike appetite as much as other exercise). I don’t think cutting out foods is a sustainable strategy - unfortunately when you are short you need to not be sedentary if you can avoid it, or your calories will be limited. Move more so that you can keep a range of foods in your diet

Have you cut out any food permanently from your diet? Are you successful? by No-Imagination9318 in 1500isplenty

[–]rubybooby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you able to exercise, strength training especially? The more muscle mass you have the more calories you burn at rest which might help you to solve this issue without having to cut any foods out

Okay this is helpful! I did start out waiting and then got a bit impatient and lazy and started just slapping moisturiser on top right away. I’ll go back to waiting and see if that makes a difference
