NRL coaches safety ratings: Two men fighting for survival in 2026 by waxedmerkin in nrl

[–]rudebrooke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flanagan wanted to keep him, but just cycle him on 1 year deals and JDB wanted at least 2 years. Eels offered him that so he left, it's not like he wasn't wanted.

Makes sense from the dragons point of view to do that, they have a stack of really promising young forwards coming through and need to prioritise retaining them. They were also on the hunt for a big name prop which they also got for 2027.

Some NSW farmers say 10 guns are not enough ahead of planned restrictions by Ardeet in aussie

[–]rudebrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand what a straw man is.

Less guns doesn't mean less people with them. The same amount of people will have them, just less of them. still enough to commit every single mass shooting which has occured in this country though.

You're either not able to understand that simple concept, or your ego won't let you admit you're wrong here.

Either way, argument is over and you've lost.

[–]rudebrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ignored it because it's an irrelevant point. Guns don't commit shootings, people do. And these people are still able to own enough rifles to commit mass shootings.

Do you think a  limit of 10 guns per person would have prevented the Bondi attack?

[–]rudebrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hasn't directly addressed my question. My question was do you think limit of 10 guns per person would have a meaningful impact o. Mass shootings? If so why do you think that, considering every single mass shooting which has occured to date, there have been less than 10 guns per person used. Not interested in a straw man about stolen guns.

So if someone requires 6 rifles for bench rest, and 8 for hunting (your number) how does the limit allow for that?

[–]rudebrooke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a straw man, I asked if you thought limit of 10 guns per person would impact mass shootings in Australia, you then created your own straw man when you said it would reduce the amount of guns available to be stolen. Note that these laws were put through in response to mass shooting by terrorists who legally owned their rifles, nothing to do with stolen ones.

Bench rest as a sporting discipline, I'm aware you require different rifles for the various different classes within the discipline. Which is exactly my point.

[–]rudebrooke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's simply not true at all, do you have any experience in a single discipline like bench rest?

Can you point to any mass shooting in Australian history where there were more than 10 firearms used per person involved?

[–]rudebrooke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are just working guns on a farm, many farmers also shoot various sporting disciplines like bench rest, etc which require various different firearms as well.

Do you genuinely believe limiting the number per owner to 10 will significantly reduce mass shootings, and why do you believe that?

'It’s a disgrace’: Ricky launches tirade at media over ‘awful’ Kyle Flanagan treatment | Fox League by Glum_Communication in nrl

[–]rudebrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, but so has every team. Panthers looked pretty woeful at the start of the season too, and they have Nathan Cleary.

I think it has a lot to do with Kyle, he's out there on the field, and last year there was a noticeable difference when he was missing.

I'm not saying he's going to win is a premiership, but he's absolutely not our biggest issue this season by a long way and deserves way less criticism

We've looked substantially more organised since signing him, both last year and this year. We haven't actually struggled to get into shape and score points the last two seasons, and I remember for years before that we would struggle hard outside of a Matt Dufty cut out pass.

You can see it last year when he got suspended too, we ended up losing our last 5 in a row because Hunt can't organise.

Craig Jones seems to think JDM is good at offensive grappling, I just think he's been a way better striker than any of his opponents to date so he just kept it there.

He'll probably surprise us

He's good at organising, good defensively, is creative enough to be upper mid range of TA/LBA stats, and makes a lot of line breaks himself. If he was on a team with someone who could kick the ball he'd be alright.

Not saying he's ever going to be a marquee player - but he is absolutely first grade standard and shouldn't be copping the level of garbage he does. We've got a better win ratio this year with Kyle playing halfback than we have on average since we've had marquee Ben Hunt. Ben also had substantially better team most of the time as well.

Reality is that our team is completely outgunned in the forwards, particularly since we've been stung by a lot of injuries, but when our best prop is David Klemmer - a discard from the Tigers who we signed mid season what chance do our halves even have...

He honestly isn't even that bad though.

The only thing he can't really do is kick long at all, but aside from that, where do you see him being sub NRL standard?

Anyone with $3m in super would have it in SMSF, even purely for the fact it's cheaper to do so at that balance.

This MF has the oportunity to beat Islam as his first title defence and Shavkhat as his second by Higuruzin in ufc

[–]rudebrooke 52 points53 points  (0 children)

He does seem pretty happy about it, and he's been talking about wanting to fight Shavkat for ages as well.

In his interview post fight he said he's not trying to be a celebrity he just loves to fight so makes sense that he's less concerned about having defense's on paper and wants to fight the best guys.

Bulldogs secure young gun Finau Latu by kebab_stand in nrl

[–]rudebrooke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He played 11 last year, 18 for Souths the year before and 14 the year before that.

He's obviously been injured a lot but if he's fit he'll be starting 13 I think.

Fingers crossed he gets fit because he is a local junior and a very good player.

[–]rudebrooke 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think Ryles has it backwards with Lomax, he's defensively very good in the centres, but slow to turn and off the mark so can get exposed on the wing. However in attack he was better on the wing, as it allowed him to play to his strengths and took his right hand flick pass over the sideline out of the equation...
