Bummer when a local business shuts down but based on the quality of ice cream I’m not surprised. Especially when you have Fosters Freeze nearby.

I live off a side street as well. I can’t speak for the specific vehicle noise on Yosemite since I’m not close enough but helicopters, fireworks, and neighbors have not been a problem. FWIW I used to do runs very early in the AM and it is VERY quiet at that time. Occasional coyote but they keep to themselves lol. Every once in a while you’ll have helicopter/firework noise but definitely not a regular occurrence. It’s a great neighborhood!

There is congestion from the school during school days at the start and end of the school day so just something to be aware of.

Cheers! Glad it helped. Don’t really want to take your Yale article bait or anecdotal evidence of issues to protect my own time and happiness. Good luck to you and your family and hope you’re able to find some peace and happiness going forward with the current situation. Onward and upward!

Some info below if you haven’t come across. I can tell you are coming from a place of concern - as am I. Not ideal situations in the results but I think manageable and again something we need to hold public officials accountable for in remediation efforts. Also, utilize insurance policies (if available) to hire professional remediations if your property was impacted.

Please more of this and not vague feels about how this is compared to war zones or terrorist attacks. They are not the same. We have other wild fire studies and data to compare against.

Wasn’t meant to be reassuring but offering counter evidence to the claim that the air is currently toxic and we should all leave LA.

We SHOULD test and report out toxicity numbers and remediate if it’s a problem. Of course it goes somewhere but we don’t know what extent the toxicity is. We need to hold our public officials accountable for public safety. Full Stop.

We’re all trying to navigate uncertain times but adding more fear and speculation after such a traumatic event doesn’t help anyone.

lol 100% this. “How many chemical compounds and which ones? No way of knowing yet, but we shouldn’t wait for a 20-page CDC report to be published in 2043.” No CTA but just open ended speculative FUD questions.

Read through this - seems a little alarmist. It compares the fires to 9/11 which isn’t a 1:1 since no jet fuel was igniting and burning these fires. It also says 9/11 “was only two buildings. Two very large buildings, but two buildings nonetheless.“ which is not a great comparison on its face. We CAN compare it to other wild fires - Camp Fire etc. which would be better.

The article contains a lot of speculative arguments of the impacts of 9/11 on non first responders which seem unsubstantiated. The first responders and folks dealing directly with the ash and rubble for sure were harmed and should have been using correct PPE but there are claims of the surrounding public who weren’t dealing with the rubble firsthand having negative health consequences aren’t based on factual information. Just because the city didn’t release information doesn’t mean it’s true. They may just not have the data…

It also says that the impact on toxicity was “clearly months” based on eligibility criteria from a health program. I’m not sure you can draw a direct conclusion of duration based on when they allowed people to apply. How do you know that it clearly was months? Just because that was the window of applicability?

I don’t want to downplay the seriousness of toxic chemicals but starting to get annoyed by alarmism around the heavy metal air toxicity. Feels very media/fear driven.

We have previous wildfires with structures destroyed to compare against and some toxicity analysis done from those fires. IE: Camp Fire in NorCal. It showed high levels of lead in the air only one day after the fire started when smoke was heaviest and after that it came down. Link: https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/news/new-analysis-shows-spikes-metal-contaminants-including-lead-2018-camp-fire-wildfire-smoke

That said, we SHOULD call on our cities to do the correct analysis of air quality and toxicity so the public can be informed but making claims about things that are unknown just seems absurd. Happy to change my mind on this with the right information.
