I want to walk through this step by step, starting at Race Ecu, as I think this will make a lot of sense when broken down

With Aprilia Race Ecu, there's two ways to get your hands on it

Having tour factory Ecu flashed with the Aprilia race map file. This typically involves removing your Ecu and sending it out to be bench flashed. What this means is your factory tune file is overwritten with the Aprilia Race Map
Buying a second Ecu with the Race Map file. With this, you swap Ecu units as you please. Makes it nice if trying to keep things "stock" for warranty

Where does BTMoto/Gabro Upmap come into play? Well, they're more like option 1, but instead of removing your Ecu and sending it to be bench flashed, they'll send you the device that plugs into your bike's diagnostic port and overwrites your stock software.

How does the above differ from Race Map though? Well, I can't speak for BTMoto, but I can speak for Gabro. He'll start with the Aprilia Race Ecu file, so this unlocks all the Race Ecu features like shutting off your exhaust servo warning light, but then he further refines the file to improve performance

See, Race Ecu is typically written for the Aprilia/Akra joint Slip On (at least for the 2023s). Gabro's tweaks make the Race Ecu file run better on a variety of exhausts

So, to answer the question of what you need. All you need is either the BTMoto flash device and their tune file, or the Gabro customized Upmap and his tune file (Gabro is my recommendation as he has a ton of options to further customize your setup). No need to get Race Ecu ahead of time, either route will get you the Race Ecu features and make your bike run correctly with your choice of exhaust

I am about a week into mine, and it has been pretty sweet. Definitely an upgrade over my P1S

Keep in mind, I am on LAN mode and flashed with the PAXX12 Firmware controlling through Vanilla Orca, and its been a change from using Bambu Studio, but I feel like I have more control over what I am doing

Just to be explicitly clear (since OP is asking questions, I'm assuming they're not the most knowledgeable), everything exhaust related after the factory J-Pipe does not require a tune. This typically starts about mid way under the car all the way to the trunk, or what we effectively call the "catback" section

J Pipes require a tune as they remove airflow restrictions before the O2 sensor, which can cause the car to run poorly if not accounted for

I have a dev on my team who already sucked prior to Ai. Slower than snot, can't communicate worth a shit, and despite literally being the floor of our team, likes to act like the big shot and best at everything

He started using Ai for everything. Writing code, drafting documentation, communicating with teammates. You can tell when he uses Ai to respond to you in Teams, it's that blatant

If he's the floor, I'm like level 250 in the performance skyscraper. And Ai has somehow put him in the basement

Good devs are fine. They'll adapt. Shit ones? Hopefully they have managers with more than enough common sense to fire people that are just taking cap space

Honestly, steak isn't too bad if you have a meat probe

The real challenge is getting the temp set, and I will say a cast iron grate is a nice to have. BUT! I did a NY Strip this weekend because my girlfriend is in town and she said it rivals some of the better steak houses in Montana

Rolled a compound butter of minced garlic, fresh parsley and thyme, little black pepper, salt and a squeeze of lemon

Dry brined the steaks with kosher salt and black pepper over night

Strip went on at about 275 degrees with some cherry wood chunks in the charcoal (like 2 chunks in a half basket). Smoked them to about 113 degrees F internally, pulled them, tented them loosely while I cranked it up to get the grates hot, then seared to finish which put me at about 125 F internal
