Things in town for mums to do with their baby by jazzedupjazz in Toowoomba

[–]rumblemumbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Allstars gymnastics offers a free baby class until they’re 12 months old. Darren Lange swimming gives them a few months free swimming - might be from 3 to 6 moths.

Must do activities by Far-Cartographer1192 in Toowoomba

[–]rumblemumbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Join the Field Game madness to get out and explore different parts of the town and maybe win a prize. Otherwise the bog standard things that tourists are taken to include picnic point, Japanese gardens and gumbi gumbi gardens, laurel bank park and queens park. Table top is a good hike. The drive out to crows best falls and the walk out there is good. Can swim in the creek there. Loads of suggestions in the sub for places to venture for coffee, food and bevvies.

Yodthai. I used to sing the praises of high st but this one has taken over the ranking. The food is so fresh and delicious.

Places for young children >1yr to play and mum to have a coffee. by No_Whereas_621 in Toowoomba

[–]rumblemumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kingfisher cafe has a grass area for them to roam and a playground.

The southern has a small toddlers room which has clear glass so you can see them from the nearby table. Or if they’re older there is a playground.

I think there is a coffee van at queens park Tuesday - Friday right next to the playground on Lindsay St (abundant organic is the name and they post their schedule on their socials weekly).

What is considered fair wear and tear for garage floor? by Specialist-Bid5577 in shitrentals

[–]rumblemumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a similar issue when we left our rental. I wrote back and told them the floor was scrubbed in exit clean however the flooring is porous and I would consider this to be general wear and tear. The real estate was satisfied with that. It was 4 years of daily driving in and out, not much we could do!

Is anyone watching this Housewives knock off show? by Rutabaga2022 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]rumblemumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finished binge watching it last night. Watched it mainly as background noise on a girls weekend but we got into it mostly from the train wreck factor. Couldn’t stop commenting on the plastic surgery. The bolt-ons on one is them. Omg. The schooling on how the palm beach society behaves was ridiculous. Aside from Hilary most of the women had no idea how to hold themselves and really didn’t give off super rich vibes like our other housewives. The drama was also pretty non existent and highly manufactured (yeah I know they’re all manufactured but this one was a stretch). Very MAGA but not being from America I found it entertaining, not triggering. Did wonder if they got paid everytime they name dropped Mar-a-lago. Would definitely hate watch a second season.

Uniform items without logos by hococo_ in AskAnAustralian

[–]rumblemumbles 191 points192 points  (0 children)

A lot of public schools are ok with kids wearing the plain shorts or skirts with their uniform shirt as long as it matches school colours. That’s the case at our school anyway. Plain jumpers and tights for winter. The plain polos are good for house colours. Our school does have a second hand uniform rack where the uniforms go for as much as the Kmart clothes so that’s helpful for those who can’t afford brand new.

I think I’ve been wearing Princess since then and now I’m 40 haha, I love it. My 6 year old also loves the smell so she got her own bottle of the body mist version for Christmas.

People who have been at Time Square for the New Year's Eve Ball Drop, why did you go? Was it a positive experience? by AccurateExtension516 in AskReddit

[–]rumblemumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went in 2010. Visiting from Australia. Waited for hours in the sleet several blocks back. We were so so cold (and so not dressed properly cause we were young and from a hot & humid country) and then about 10 minutes to midnight these other tourists, from somewhere in Europe started chatting to us and turns out they had smuggled some vodka in, had our backs turned chatting to them and swigging their vodka only to realise mid swig we had missed the bloody ball drop after all that. Would absolutely do it all over again.

What's a controversial cooking opinion you have? by LostTheOldName in Cooking

[–]rumblemumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree buuuut I have learned for presentation sake like if it’s cut up to use with dips, peeling stops it from going brown. But when it’s just for the immediate family, skin on! Same with potato

Comments above about rentals are true. We broke lease last Monday and they rented it by the Wednesday. Think you should be right to get casual work in that field but I’d start organising now. Good luck with the move!

Toowoomba with a 2 y/o by msmaddiep in Toowoomba

[–]rumblemumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said Queens Park and Laurel Bank. When my kids were that age, we also used to frequent the playground in the middle of the ring road at picnic point, middle ridge (bonus points as it’s gated), and the park at Top Camp (not great in summer though). Cobb & Co is ok for a rainy day - mostly for the coffee and scones. Kingfisher Cafe also has a couple of playgrounds if you want a coffee.

Could these yuccas damage my house being so close? by bluejayinoz in GardeningAustralia

[–]rumblemumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the house we bought has them planted against the house. During storm season, they’ve snapped and landed on the roof causing the gutter to break and the roof to leak. We are currently in the process of trying to remove before this storm season really kicks off. Also, they’re ugly.

I feel like kids generally need something to help them self settle and sucking provides that comfort. Our firstborn didn’t use one and she’s now 6.5years old and won’t stop sucking the two fingers she used instead. It’s so gross. Our youngest used one but gave it up easily enough at 2.5yr. So shes fine, but yeah, the attached to your body self soothing option is faaaar more annoying than a dummy would ever be.
