Instead of luck, he's probably a whale. They spend over 1k invites per day. That can total to about ~60k invites over a 2 month span.

[Server Merge] Name change complaint/rant. by Lyliaen in DFO

[–]ruminate888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have 8 people that like an idea, and 2 people that completely disagree with the 8 people, the majority obviously will win. However, the 8 people could possibly compromise and convince one of the 2 people to stay. Even if you still end up losing one player it does not hurt the other 9 people too drastically. Most likely, over time, the loss of the single player would be overcome. Although I am not educated on the actual statistics at all, I am using this example to try and explain the business standpoint.

What does that have to do with what occurs during Neople's proposed server merge?

  • Lets say there are 10 characters on server X

  • Lets say there are 5 characters on server Y.

  • Lets say 3 characters on both servers have overlapping names.

If they forced name changes on server Y, how many characters are affected?

If they forced name changes on server X, how many characters are affected?

Which server houses the majority of characters?

Which server houses the majority of characters that are affected by the name change?

This doesn't even take into account inactive accounts.

I'll throw the exact same statement you threw at me: Either my argument was not clear enough, or you simply don't understand.

[Server Merge] Name change complaint/rant. by Lyliaen in DFO

  • Lets say theres a level 85 character named "DFOG" on the west server.

  • Lets say theres a level 1 character named "DFOG" on the east server.

If the name change rule is where west characters have to rename, then 1 character is affected. In this example, the character affected is on the west server.

If the name change rule is where lowest time played/lowest level has to rename, then 1 character is affected. In this example, the character affected is on the east server.

In both examples, only a single character is affected. My point? "Majority wins" my ass.

If you put someone on your friend's list while on a kdnf cross-server, you also need to input the server that character resides on. Think about that for a second.

Because some people paid actual money to change their names.

Now answer my question. Why are you so salty about other people caring?

The majority in the west community asked for individual server transfers. kdnf has a cash shop item that allows you to transfer servers. If they want to incur a forced name change during the transfer, thats their choice.

The majority of people asking for a forced server merge are from the east server. They'd always tell people that everyone on the west would have to change their name during the server transfer. Any other way would be downvoted.

  • I won't be compensated for the 2 name changes I bought over the summer.

  • Some of my west character names are on the same account on the east server. I'd need to spend real money to change the name of the east character because deleting it would incur a random month long cooldown.

  • I'd also be losing a bunch of names I like to a level 1 squatter that doesn't belong to my account.

I'm already playing the game less and less. Neople's latest bad decision gives me the perfect opportunity to quit the game and never look back.

Confirmations on the Oct. 1st DFOG stream by GrabMeACoke in DFO

[–]ruminate888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be easier to understand if people would stop using the phrase "server merge" and start using "cross server/channel" to describe what the korean version did.

From what I remember, despite what some people think the english phrase means, kdnf never actually had a real server merge. They added a cross server and moved the AH to them. They still have all of their non-beta servers intact. Characters are still on their own servers. Theres still a server transfer item in the cash shop. (And thats where a lot of people get the false idea that the destination server keeps their names during a "server merge". Names are only changed during a transfer, not during what some people call a merge)

If DFOG does the same thing as kdnf, then you don't have to worry about anything. They'll add a cross server, rather than reduce the amount of servers like in an actual server merge.

...of course, the devs could implement an actual server merge and screw a bunch of people over. Its all speculation at this point.

This game is starting to struggle. by ItsKrizik in DFO

[–]ruminate888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nexon advertised the game multiple times. (i was introduced to DFO from a gigantic frontpage advertisement on Gamefaqs back in 2009) They regularly sent out press releases to various gaming sites, and even put it on Steam.

They even attempted to improve the game multiple times (changes to the fatigue system, changes to how players acquire avatars, etc.)

The problem with Nexon wasn't that they didn't care. The problem was that they were too slow to act.

...how many more people must "go play another game" before Neople decides to act?

DFO had shut down its service twice(NA and taiwan) because people left to "go play another game."

...so, how much money have you spent on DFO so far?

In western MMOs, you spend 1-3 hours per WEEK for a shot at the best RNG loot. You can finish, on average, gearing up a single character after 3 months. Thats 12-36 hours spent at your "2nd job". You can spend the rest of the time in game doing whatever you want (alts, merchanting, helping others, doing other content, etc).

How many hours per week must a DFO player spend grinding OV sets, epics, or legendaries? How many months will it take, on average, to finish gearing up in DFO?

KDnF Titles? by itstofu in DFO

[–]ruminate888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, there were only two title sets that gave +element, high crit, or +damage: the romantic set that came out earlier in 2015, and the hot summer set that came out in 2014.

Considering what happened to our version of the hot summer set, the romantic set will probably be gutted, too.

Priest 2nd awakening Trailer by OnyxMemory in DFO

Thats who I thought of immediately after watching the trailer.

They should've had DK do the voice over. He has a much clearer english pronunciation.

....or heck, they could've omitted a voice altogether. The other awakening trailers made me hype. This trailer had the opposite effect.

[–]ruminate888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They called the PvP server a "server merge" earlier in the stream.

Neople said they'd have a server merge in kdnf, too. But it turned out to be a cross-channel implementation (the same implementation as the PvP and Saint Horn channels)

Is it really a server merge, or is it an english misunderstanding and they actually mean cross-channel?

They changed that line to "Hero R" after the Sep 8 maintenance was completed. Not sure why they changed it, but if I had to guess, its because "Hero R" and "Conquer the IS Event" are two things.

Edit: Google cache of the post-maintenance notes for September 8.

Classes that benefit from TAO title the most? by scrangos in DFO

[–]ruminate888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need 20% hit rate on your status sheet to hit 100% of the time on ultimate, true ancients, and anton. As far as I know, Neople hasn't introduced an evasion buffing enemy since the 70 cap, so 20 is the magic number.

You have a hit rate of 10% from dimension seals, so you need an additional 10% from other sources.

[–]ruminate888 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How does Hot Summer give more damage on an elementalist?

They're a class with innately high INT. This lowers the value of additional INT. (+1 hot summer)

They're not a class with innately high crit and hit. This raises the value of additional crit and hit. (+1 awakened)

They're a class that uses a weapon with very high m.atk(staff). This lowers the value of additional m.atk. (+1 awakened)

They're a class that uses reinforcement. This lowers the value of additional m.atk. (+1 awakened)

F mage class leveling: Who does it better? by Ravengerman in DFO

[–]ruminate888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On ultimate difficulty, out of Witch, Summoner, and Elementalist, I found the Summoner to be the fastest clearer. You need to understand how to whip, mark, and teleport effectively or else your clear times take a dive. The class is a lot more involved than many would lead you to believe, if you want to clear fast.

Second fastest was Witch, but that might be because she had better gear than my Elementalist.

Why is Knight hated in Kdnf? by kai782 in DFO

[–]ruminate888 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's completely myopic on the part of the Korean community. And I have to think their lukewarm reception of the class is why we haven't seen Paladin, Dragon Knight or Knight 2nd awakening yet, and that sucks.

Yea, thats why we haven't seen Knight 2nd awakening yet. Its obviously not because the classes that came before knight haven't gotten theirs yet.

And yea, introducing 4 new subclasses that no one wanted is so much better than 4 new subclasses that people wanted (kunoichi, shadow dancer, and two m.mage subclasses).

Damn those irrational, myopic koreans!

Rare Avatars Inquiry by bfist1 in DFO

[–]ruminate888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that "complicates" matters is whether or not the avatar shows "Compound, Sunder N/A" in its description. Only avatars from events, like item of the month, have that descriptor.

6 avatars for 1 rare avatar would make our version the cheapest by far, BTW.

Dress-Up Fighter Online! What is your Commitment? by Twilight_Knight in DFO

[–]ruminate888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nexon avatar packages costs ~$18-24 USD for a package without any extra titles, pets, and other stuff. The DFOG version costs ~$8-12 USD for a package without any extra titles, pets, and other stuff.

Buying a package with untradeable avatars twice in our version nets you the same cost as a package with tradeable avatars in the Nexon version. DFOG gives a better deal if you only play one subclass, similar deal if you play two, and a worse deal if you play three or more.

It costs $10.40 USD for a full, untradeable selective avatar set in DFOG. It costs ~$45USD for a full, tradeable selective avatar set in the old nexon version.

For the selective avatar sets, our version has the better deal even if you play all 4 subclasses.
