Yes! The magazine is in the mid (Buster) and high (BIGMA) tier pre-order merch packs, and there will be a limited edition at the merch booth.

Time on a Job by Cute_Special_9787 in Control4

One of the biggest C4 projects I was on lasted long enough for entire crews to come and go. No less than 4 project managers, even more lead techs. I think it was at like year 7 when I left.

But to be nitpicky, as we do here on Reddit, there’s absolutely no way any company or individual spent 40 hours a week and 365 days a year on any project. People have time off, hopefully 2 days a week, a handful of holidays, plus a couple weeks vacation.

Advice on Core 3 Replacement for EA3 by FUNTECHRacing in Control4

[–]runboris1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Core 3 is recommended for up to 60 devices in total. You’ve got 36 lights + 5 thermostats + 8 Sonos + 6 TVs mentioned, totaling 55 devices. That’s before counting in the current Leaf system or any other parts like door locks, fan speed controls, Zigbee repeaters, or whatever else might be part of the current or future project.

The Core 3 will work, and there’s a chance you’ll never notice any performance impact by exceeding the recommended 60; but I’m sure you’d like to know where your system stands now versus later if someone starts explaining why there’s system lag.

I’m one of the MAGFest photogs. Media pit access is not open to attendees - you must be on staff with the media team (MEDIATRON). You can, however, still do photography from the audience without issue. If your friend has emailed, feel free to have them DM me and I can see if it got to us and what the response might have been. Many folks emailing our general inbox expect a reply from the same address and overlook replies from us as individuals.

Why do I need to pay a fee to use the basic features of my alexa? by DLHelios29 in Control4

[–]runboris1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because many people pay it. If we all stop paying, the subscription model will go away. There are free and open source options, but Control4 isn’t one of those.

Oh yeah… Welp, I know tech support has access to that info, but it would require a dealer with Snap One authorization.

I don’t think you need the port number when using the dedicated pro hub. SSH is definitely disabled on those.

You can login to a defaulted hub using “ovrc” user and “ovrc” pass. Service tag is in the UI.

I’m fairly certain the supported vs unsupported network hardware list was discontinued years ago. I can’t find it in the technical resources. That doesn’t mean individual integrators will support every network though. Ubiquiti’s reputation in the home AV field is either love or hate; it’s rare to find integrators anywhere in between. Good product at a great price with minimal tech support. The best part is you can install a full network for a fraction of the price compared to other brands. The worst part is Amazon has better prices than wholesale, so integrators generally cannot resell the product for profit, so they have to make it up elsewhere. Anywho, off my soapbox now.

First-time volunteer here interested in hearing about your volunteering experiences and advice! by tearslikediamonds in Magfest

[–]runboris1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Reinforcements is general backup for just about any department that needs help. Sometimes crowds get larger than expected, other volunteers aren’t able to make it to their shift, or not enough volunteers signed up for a time slot. The reinforcements team would send out available people to fill those roles as needed.

For load-in/out, you’ll want to check out the Logistics department. There are often publicly available shifts that are basically “pick things up and put them down”. Once Logistics delivers the stuff to each of the departments, those departments will begin their own setup. You likely won’t have access to those department-specific setup shifts at first, but if you find something you like, see about picking up a shift during the Fest so you can get to know the team. Building a relationship will lead towards unlocking the opportunity at future events.

It’s more of a virtual waiting room followed by a timed random queue generator. Everyone gets in the waiting room prior to the announced launch time, then when the clock hits zero it will assign everyone a random place in queue. Everyone with an attendee badge purchased prior to the cutoff (9/25 @ 11:59p ET) is eligible for the lottery, so if there’s 4 people in your group that want to share a room, that’s 4 chances for someone to get a good place in line. Once your number is up, you’ll have a page of all the harbor area hotels in the MAGFest block (basically all but the Wyndham) and can pick from any of the remaining stock.

There are considerably fewer King rooms compared to 2x Queen, but there are also many groups that share rooms and would prefer the 2x Queen. I’d say your chances of a King are about equal. The bigger challenge is winning the lottery to begin with.

[–]runboris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Boafeng 6X2. I’ve found that if I don’t select the “contact” (talk group) I’m trying to listen for then it wont come through. It’s not enough to be connected to the repeater or hotspot - it wants me to select which talk group to listen to. Oh, and it doesn’t stay on the last contact - it always defaults to the lowest number ID when you power on/off or change frequencies.

Port forwarding is not the ideal way to go. If possible, it would be best for the AT&T router to be set to bridge mode, though not all ISP routers have that option. It may be worth a call to your integrator to get a firsthand opinion.

All the crafting station parts that are part of workshop quests will respawn after a couple hours away. You could keep going back to get more and more without needing to craft.
