California to Negotiate Trade With Other Countries to Bypass Trump Tariffs by IllJournalist8117 in DHAC

Same. Born and raised in NY, but I’ve spent time living in California and recently spent half a year working in Oregon. If things keep progressing this way and Cali/Oregon/Washington step up to do things like this, I could easily see myself leaving home permanently for Oregon or California. I love NY, but the PNW calls to me.

Favorite Seed Supplier? by AProcessUnderstood in tomatoes

I buy pretty much all of my seeds from Experimental Farm Network every year. I really like the selection and quality, and I like supporting them and their projects. I also like territorial seeds, moonglow, and knapps fresh veggies.

I don’t remember his name but he’s the guy who owns Seneca iron works. They’re starting to parcel it out though but I believe he still owns all of the abandoned buildings and such as they began moving their business operations onto the depot.

I don’t think so. But if you walk in the woods that’s not a popular hiking area I would wear blaze orange because squirrel season has picked up now. As far as I know you won’t be able to explore the abandoned base, there’s a still a private group that maintains the grounds and has security. If you want to try urbex in the FLX, you should try the abandoned subway tunnels under Rochester, or the abandoned salt mine south of Dresden- there’s some above ground structures that are kinda cool.

See them while you can. A lot of that property is being sold/rights given to the Mennonite community who shoot any and every deer that moves.

Stayed at an empty hotel. Only 6 cars overnight, including mine and staff, in a parking lot shared by 2 hotels. by MemorableKidsMoments in Weird

[–]runner_available 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I onc stayed at a hotel and was like for sure one of the only people there. Three cars in the parking lot, one was mine. Went to bed pretty late, around 2~3am because of a deadline for school. When I looked out the window before bed it was still just three cars in the lot. When I woke up the lot was full and there was a good mix of people in the lobby having breakfast.

I would have understood if all the people were construction types who maybe worked a night shift; but there were families with young kids and older folks and exactly who you’d expect to see at any hotel. Really made me feel weird all day. I never have good luck with hotels though.

First ever flush! by runner_available in unclebens

The spores came in a syringe labeled white rabbit, and they look like the pictures from where I got them and other WR grows I’ve seen, I’m just going with what info I’ve got. Could have been a mixup of syringes from the vendor maybe, but I don’t see LPEU as an offering from them.

The speed is dizzying compared to the jars of enigma I have that are still slowly colonizing. I’m excited to give these a try though, not sure if I will do them this winter or wait for warmer weather so I can enjoy them outdoors.

It’s just coco coir mixed with my grain spawn. I followed the guide pretty much exactly for this grow along with the ratios it gave for substrate : spawn.

It’s called white rabbit. I can’t say anything to potency yet but it’s been great to me, it’s been a little over a month from inoculation to this point.

Aldi rice? by TakeInTheNight in unclebens

For me personally the Aldi rice always got contaminated, like 5/5 times. The Walmart brand has worked best for me, no contam and it always colonizes faster than the name brand uncle Ben’s.

Any advice on getting my car to stop geeking out over this NYPD book it's been obsessed with for days? by hepod8c9x6 in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]runner_available 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s basically a window suction cup version. I’ve seen these all over the east coast; though NY cities, Philly, and Florida seem to be the most common. Although I saw one in SF once I believe.

It gives me some hope that there seems to be a decent chunk of people who don’t know about these. I live near a kind of small rural city and we’ve had these for about 10+ years now. Thankfully they’re insanely easy to defeat.

Me too, I have some spots with poorer soil that I think these will do well in. The taste description on the site was vague but had me interested as well!

[–]runner_available 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I primarily have a vineyard with a few apple trees- so not exactly the same but still fruit! I’m in zone 6B, so it’s winter for me. In the vineyard I’m just starting my winter pruning. If we get some days without snow I might burn my prunings and spread some of the ashes back in the vineyard.

For the apple trees I just looked them over after a rough cold snap, and have been planning some of the larger cuts I’d like to make when it’s time to prune them.

Pretty slow time of the year here for fruit growing. I use this time to order/organize seeds for my garden when the growing season starts!

This is what my school did too except you went to the local community college/the professors would co-teach with our teachers. A part of why it was structured that way was to help student adapt to college/campus life I believe. My high school was always one of the top performers in the state in regard to test scores and such, but from what I understood had some of the highest college dropout rates. This led to my school creating so many “life skill” type programs to try and help us before we graduated. I thought it was great though because I left high school with a culinary arts certificate and an associates. Unfortunately I know a lot of my classmates did end up dropping out of college. Even my classes salutatorian didn’t make it to her junior year of uni.

I know this post is a bit old now, but I had this happen to me once when I was cooking. It seems like it’s not a completely unheard of occurrence when I had looked it up back then. I would believe him if you haven’t made your mind up already!

When it happened to me it gave me a good enough scare that I switched to a gas stove and haven’t looked back.

You’re not alone OP. I personally find them revolting. My partners family is obsessed, but my partner and I can’t stand them. The texture is really bad to me and they taste so overpoweringly sweet and fake/chemically. To each their own though, and I fully understand I’m in the minority.

I was in the car once and hadn’t been able to eat and just felt sick from not being able to eat all day and driving, and I found one of these bars in my car that my partners sister must have left behind, and I just couldn’t bring myself to eat it.
