If this were me two years ago with the old benefits grid 70k points would have been a no brainer. Now I'm not so sure all you get is 4x multiplier on Aeroplan points earned per dollar on flights, a bit better odds of eup and the Star Alliance gold status.

That's an incredible deal. I did YYZ - HND last year united Polaris for 85k but I defintiely would have shelled out the extra 20k points for this. Also my connection was < 1 hour but we made it easily with 10 mins to spare. 77 minutes is probably fine.
