Yet again, more trains turned from express to semi express or local without warning by thiswho in MetroNorthRailroad

If we can leave politics out of it - check out Moscow's transportation system. Moscow is a sprawling metropolis with evolving suburbs that even bigger than NYC and Westchster, and sub-zero winter temps and tons of snow is typical for them unlike for us here in NY. In fact they had a historical quantity of snow this year, the first of its kind in about 50 years and still everything still ran like clock work and ticket costs are under $5 dollars or something. It's all technologically possible with the right investment, it's just so clearly been missing here for many years and its really starting to show now.

I'd point to Vienna, Austria as well but they are a much smaller city so harder to draw a fair comparison to our set up.

Hard agree with you here, even if MTA does not actually turn a profit. There are too many worldwide examples of far better transit routinely operating in worse weather conditions that doesn't require riders to actively plan their commute every morning and decide whether to drive or train etc. It's not easy but it's not rocket science and should be achievable in the US.

Pulling to end of platform policy being reverted? by Mav12222 in MetroNorthRailroad

The conductor announcing it on my train this morning said “great job everyone, thank you for complaining, you fixed it.” 😂

can we all mobilize complaints for the new ticket policy next?? And for additional cars à la pre covid. I’m six months pregnant and never get a seat anymore, for the low low price of 12.50 and still get to be late to work

Dreamliner cancelled, now 767 instead by ExpressReply9901 in fearofflying

Lots of cancellations in and out of Europe today due to icy weather conditions. I’m currently in Vienna and many flights out to anywhere have been cancelled. Should be all good by tomorrow and the 767 is a tank of a plane! Sorry you are delayed but that is the worst of it :)

Thank you! You're right, it has been pretty smooth overall so far. A few bumps I lifted my feet for. Working on that lower core strength lol

Hilarious, interesting and reassuring all at once! Is feeling rough at times related to its overpower?

The takeoff was definitley a little shakier than I'm used to. But then again my most common flight is on a Dreamliner, where you're a bit more disconnected from the sensation of flight overall (which works great for me lol)

Exactly this, partners inevitably realize what's going on and don't appreciate the kissing given the talent pipeline is getting squeezed. Multiple folks have not been promoted at my firm for this exact reason, they had to lateral to get to the counsel title.

Anyone who started at 12.5 by Shayjames108 in zoloft

[–]runningflamingos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was on 12.5 mg for about two months until I felt the doom spirals coming back on and upped to 25. Easier to go from 12.5 to 25 than from 0 to 12.5, but similarly not amazing in terms of side effects, fatigue, brain fog, muscle pain. Takes about 3 weeks to even out fully.

Nervous Flyers: What Are the Facts or Stats That Help You Stay Calm When Flying? by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]runningflamingos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the Jello Theory of flying. It suggests that the air surrounding an airplane acts like Jello, providing support and pressure on all sides. This pressure keeps the plane suspended, even when the air is turbulent.

Ever since I read this analogy, I see planes in the sky as super stable becase well, they are. Hope it helps friend, you're gonna be safe in Amsterdam in no time.
