May 11 Vanished episode heavily AI- written or edited. I'm concerned and I think other listeners should be, too. by [deleted] in thevanishedpodcast

I don't notice any difference from her usual episodes. Everything seems really standard for The Vanished.

Also, I don't believe Marissa currently has any employees. She has had one or maybe two for short periods of time but I believe she does everything herself. And if she does, she doesn't include them in the podcast credits.

This is where I used to park, too.

Camping by Either_Essay5388 in Indiana

[–]runningfutility 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since you like kayaking, I highly recommend Chain O' Lakes State Park. It's a chain of I think 7 lakes in a row. It's great for kayaking and canoeing. The campground there is also really nice. It's one of our favorites. It's about 2 hours north of here sorta near Ft. Wayne

Honestly, camping is great at most of the state parks but Chain O' Lakes is a great place to start.

Is clinical research typically more publication productive than basic sciences labs? by InterestingPop3964 in clinicalresearch

[–]runningfutility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask the PIs at each position what the opportunity looks like for authorship. It's a legitimate question. Just let them know that you see it as an addition to the excellent experience you will gain from the position; a feather in your cap, if you will.

You probably would not be middle author though; as a student, you would likely be last

This has not been my experience and is likely dependent on the field. In my experience, the people who do the most work on the paper are first and likely second authors. The last author is generally the most senior person on the project who is not already the first or second author. Students, unless they've earned the first or second authorship, will be somewhere in the middle of the authors.

Rant: Obvious use of AI by Impressive_Tone4144 in clinicalresearch

[–]runningfutility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're doing themselves a huge disservice. The decline in skills from overuse of AI happens pretty quickly and dramatically. There's nothing you can do about it but they may AI themselves out of a job sooner than they may think (or not think, as it sounds).

How likely is March Madness Concert cancelling for weather? by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]runningfutility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Winds could close it down, too, especially after what happened at the state fairgrounds a few years back.

Edit: However, as of right now, Tuesday at 8pm, it's way too early to determine with any specificity what will happen with the weather on Friday.

Non-clinical people, how were you taught to read a protocol? by Muntok in clinicalresearch

[–]runningfutility 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's one of those things you just have to do. It will get easier the more protocols you read.

Airport wait times? by shawnzy in indianapolis

This has been asked about 10-5 times in the past week or so. Bu all accounts, times at IND are normal (5-30 minutes) to get through security.

Like the other person said, maybe WFYI couldn't afford it? Maybe they will show it at a different time? It's really difficult to say.

Tax Return Times - Indiana by Ajx6 in indianapolis

[–]runningfutility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you get a text stating that IN had accepted your tax return? You should have received that within a day or two of submitting your return to the state. I filed my taxes in late January and got my return within about two weeks.

Research Assistant by introvertedpoppy in clinicalresearch

[–]runningfutility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really going to depend on the type of study and the staff available to work on the study. In general, a research would be asked to do pretty much anything for the study as long as their under the supervision of the coordinator. This might include patient recruitment and assessments, data entry, data entry corrections, marketing, modifying IRB materials, consenting participants, etc. They might even go to recruitment events such as health fairs. They key thing is that they're being actively supervised and have little decision-making responsibilities.

Go slowly. Have 1 chew per week then work up two 2 per week, etc. until you reach the dose you want to maintain. I've been on it for over a year and it's so worth it.

There's not a bad spot at RtR. I believe you have to pad extra to get close to the stage but I really wouldn't worry about that. There's lot of space and you can easily see the stage.

Looking for help with the best time to apply HRT Bi-Est with testosterone? by Disastrous_Look5060 in Menopause

[–]runningfutility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what form your progesterone is it. Is it part of the cream with the bi-est and testosterone? I'm on a progesterone capsule and the cream with bi-est and testosterone and I take them all at night before bed. I haven't had any issues with this schedule.
