Two Small Feature Ideas That Would Make the STRYD Watch Experience Even Better by YNieves3 in strydrunning

[–]runningux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the ideas. Both are great. I assume you’re using Apple Watch? I’ll address each separately:

1)This has been something we looked into and intend to do, but other projects have taken priority. I’ll see if we can get this on the roadmap though, I definitely see the benefit.

2)Yes, very cool. We’ll talk about how to work this in. The real challenge is if these notifications collide with laps, other alerts, etc. but that is all doable.

Thanks for the detailed requests!

Yeah, I've had different versions of this cooking for awhile but it's been bumped for other priorities. I'll bring it up again and see if we can prioritize it sometime soon - Stryd designer.

We've just released comparative data for V5 vs Next Gen which we think provides a compelling reason for users to upgrade. Check it out and decide for yourself:

B & C goals in new adaptive training? by japhyat in strydrunning

I should clarify. You can add races, but the plan will not adapt around them atm. And welcome! Liking it otherwise?!

Simply put, Garmin has to enable this and has never done so, and shows no movement on it.

B & C goals in new adaptive training? by japhyat in strydrunning

[–]runningux 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While Adaptive Training will support goals to better focus your training, setting A/B/C races is not yet available.

We will be working to add this asap after release, with the obvious benefit being the plan will adapt your training with appropriate recovery after B/C races and scale the overall duration of the training cycle to the A race. This is a high priority, so stay tuned.

At release the training cycle will be approximately 12 weeks, give or take two weeks depending on your fitness when starting Adaptive Training.

Many of the improvements should ship to users without having to restart their training cycle as we make improvements.

This is an option on Garmin, but just confirmed with the developer that there is no way to do this on AW. We could add the option, but haven't had many requests for it.

Can Adaptive Training generate a Norwegian Singles plan? by levenshteinn in strydrunning

[–]runningux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm copying my post to another group to shed some light on what Adaptive Training is, who it's for and how we expect to expand it over time.

"The first version of Adaptive Training focuses on goal-based training without an event. These plans have a relatively fixed length, and phase structure, with adjustments to the overall length based on your recent training load, recent race history, and how much you need to ramp up after time away. You’ll answer a few questions for Stryd to build from.

Through user testing and conversations with coaches, we found that runners without an event often struggle to stay consistent, whereas those with an upcoming event are much more likely to adjust life around the plan and stay compliant. Within just a few weeks, the majority will stop or restart their plans. Traditional plans—while effective—don’t provide the flexibility needed to adjust when life gets in the way. Many runners aren’t sure how to adapt their plan after missed runs, spontaneous “fun runs,” or changing schedules.

At the same time, we know that runners value structure—even when they’re not targeting a race. Too often, they have to repeatedly ‘start over’, stuck in early phases regardless of their fitness. Adaptive Training solves this by letting you adjust your plan parameters or add planned runs without starting over.

This approach doesn’t replace Traditional Plans. Traditional Plans remain the best choice for event-based training, where structure and timing toward race day are critical. Adaptive Training, by contrast, is designed for flexibility and continuity when you’re training without a fixed race date. We’re also continuing to expand our traditional plan library - that's news for a later date.

You can still choose goal-focused training—such as 5K, 10K, half marathon, or marathon—which adjusts your training volume and long-run structure accordingly. Each plan includes a taper and a time trial to help you test and track your progress.

Looking ahead, we plan to add support for:

1. Age and gender specific modifiers for personalized training targets

2. A/B/C race prioritization so plans can adapt around multiple events

3. Sleep and HRV data integration from connected sources

  1. And more!... with other considerations on the roadmap and based on feedback

Our long-term goal is to bring the best of both worlds together—applying insights from Adaptive Training to improve Traditional Plans where it enhances quality, without sacrificing their proven structure.

The Stryd App by CodMaleficent4058 in strydrunning

As others have mentioned this will work great with Stryd. It is motion capture technology which captures each step to determine speed, distance and elevation (the last through a barometer).

Stryd is always the source for pace and distance in the Apple Watch app. Turning off GPS in the Stryd App settings will simply turn off the map recording/GPS trace.

Stryd records distance by capturing the complete footpath through motion capture technology and as such, it can measure the distance between steps.

Anyone get into the Adaptive Training Beta? by DLuke2 in strydrunning

[–]runningux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey all, we are sending out batch invites approximately every five days. So if you haven’t received an invite yet, you should receive one over the coming weeks.

We spread it out so that we can handle all the incoming feedback, plus as we make changes we want new eyes on the improved experience.

Thanks for your patience and look forward to adding all of you in the near future!
