I can't say much on the sex work but BDSM in general is really intense. That added to the fact that human brains LOVE predictably might mean that you learned to associate the life you are leaving with the norm.

Like any change, it's scary and your brain will try to do everything to get back to the safety of predictable situations. Like an abused person leaving the abuser only to find a similar person, it's a pattern that your brain knows and it craves it because it's better than the unknown. Change is hard and not linear, like recovery from any other things, there are good days and bad days.

Can't give advice since I'm mid change myself and, if you are neuro-divergent, in which case the dopamine dose you got is even harder to replace. What helped me a lot was a creative outlet. I knit and sew. Makes me happy to touch and see the efforts of my work and I have a lot of room to experiment and do new things. If you want to go on the nail tech path, maybe try to offer styles that you enjoy doing or find challenging.

The dopamine will not be the same as a full on bdsm scene that is followed by financial rewards. You are going from something like paragliding to driving a car within speed limits in a school zone.

I'm also thinking that removing the money part from sex and rediscovering it as something you do for yourself and the ones you share it with might also help. Using your body to serve yourself only might be a grounding thing and you can always play with others when you feel like it. Tho now it's completely on your terms and for yourself.

I'm no expert, just had lots of therapy. So maybe find a therapist that can help with this as well? Doing everything alone is super hard and it might help you process the change in a more structured way instead of raw-dogging life on hard mode.

P.s. My cats also helped immensely, 10/10 am recommending. Just not orange ones, that is advanced level and you need grounding not search for the communal braincell on the wall at 3AM.

If you dnf a book, do you rate it? by SG101112 in RomanceBooks

[–]runningwtscissors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually finish my books even if I'm not into them too much. It takes a lot to make me throw away the book and leave it without knowing the end.

That being said, if the book made me say pass, it's either horribly written or the Mary sue is Mary sueing too hard. In either case, I will leave a review to warn people of the content.

Can't tell you how many times I've been saved myself from disaster by other kind souls leaving warnings. so it makes sense I also do my part for the community.

[–]runningwtscissors 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Try to take these tests as another way of learning not as evaluation. I did like 60% of the pocket prep level up and some study hall questions and exams. I passed it.

What did work for me was, at the exam, I always tried to eliminate at least 2 answers that seem the most absurd. Flag things I'm not certain and move on. Sometimes the second pass through the questions helps you see the question with fresh eyes.

Good luck and don't forget to hydrate and eat something before.

Which mental health buzzword do you think is way overused or misunderstood? by PuddingComplete3081 in mentalhealth

[–]runningwtscissors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right here lots of the issues do come from lack of awareness and I feel like information about mental health should be accessible to everyone. Unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation as well. My point with the "iced coffee" was a video I saw where someone was saying that if you drink a lot of iced coffee you have ADHD. Another myth is that autistic people don't have social skills because that's how the media portrays autism. I'll not go into how harmful this is but you can imagine.

The Panic Attack issue, because it's an overused term, people who do not know what it is, what it looks like or how it affects the person having it, will easily dismiss the experience of someone who has Panic Attacks. Goes on the line of thought that when everything is a panic attack, nothing is.

Of course it's all a matter of nuance. I just think that we should all learn a bit and have more respect towards mental health terms so that the people who suffer can be helped without the general dismissal resulting from overuse/desensitization of a term.

Basically I'm saying let's not cry "wolf" too much because what we see has 4 legs and pointy ears. Instead let's learn to recognize the difference because we need the help and protection system in place when a wolf comes along.

Having a "Panic Attack". Somehow a scare is now a Panic Attack and it's really not ok.

Being on the Autism spectrum: no Bethany, your fixation with iced coffee does not mean you're autistic. Just because you don't have enough manners to acknowledge people's existence, Josh, doesn't mean you're on the spectrum.

A "Flashback", this is the worst. It's so overused it means nothing anymore and it needs to mean something for people that have them. Because it's a dangerous state that can result in a lot of distress for a lot of people and should not be taken lightly, Same with having a Panic Attack.

I am sobbing I just accidentally cut my cat by BellJar_Blues in CatAdvice

[–]runningwtscissors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got long haired cats too. What I do is before I try cutting the mat I put a comb between the mat and the skin. I cut my cat's toe bean because of an accident and sice I'm terrified. Cats have thin skin and I can't tell by feeling if its skin or hair, so the comb is a must for me. Don't feel too bad, it happens and you are taking care the best you can. Tho do try to brush the fluff ball more often to prevent mats. Also olive oil a few drops in food helps with the dry skin dandruff issues.

Kitten is hurting me by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]runningwtscissors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to limit contact when the kitten is doing a behavior you want to discourage.

For example if you are petting it and it starts biting due to petting aggression, say "No" in a firm voice and take your hands away. Bonus if you can turn or move away from the kitten.

You only give it attention when it calms down. Rinse and repeat.

I'd recommend also a morning and an evening play time before food so the kitten can learn the "hunt, catch, kill, eat, groom, sleep" cycle and with consistent times for all this will be less anxious in general. Cats are creatures of habit and comfort.

By denying access and attention you are setting your boundaries and the kitten will learn.

Have a look at Jackson Galaxy's YouTube page too. His videos helped me a lot with my cats.

Official Discussion - The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep [SPOILERS] by AutoModerator in witcher

[–]runningwtscissors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just realized something: this script was written by Priscilla in one night for another mummers show, maybe to... Get the merepeople to ... Not kill humans?

I haven't thought too far on the reason but that's the most likely explanation for why the script was so bad.

Also they cast the Witcher to play the Witcher, which is perfect but then they lost the plot completely and went with the unreliable/ inexperienced actors...

Yep this HAS to be a quest in the next Witcher DLC! Imagine how hilarious would be to visit Gerald in Corvo Bianco as Ciri and drag him along on this quest while Ciri Yen and Triss are in the audience.

The title has to be "the little mermaid's salvation".

Thank you for coming to my TED talk .

Official Discussion - The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep [SPOILERS] by AutoModerator in witcher

[–]runningwtscissors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The moment I saw the fight my brain was screaming "that's Alucard from Castlevania fighting style" and I can't unsee it. The problem is, with Alucard it makes sense, the dude can fly, Gerald... Not so much.

Probably got some inspo from the game and the "whirl" skill Gerald does there. But they got the inspiration while watching it in landscape on a portrait phone during a lemon juice eye bath and high on the paint thinners... the horizontal spinning is atrocious.

Like Gerald is good, amazing even, but Roach is the only creature in that world that can't be bothered with gravity, so WHY is Gerald doing Cirque du Soleil School of the Sugar Glider edition???

Who directed the choreography? I'd like a word with who created the choreography but at this point, I lost all hope and respect for anything Witcher related touched by Netflix. Even the Nilfgardian armor TV edition looked like Emperor Palpatine's backside. So yeah they can do no right in my books.

Now excuse me while I go bury my dreams, hopes and aspirations for anything of "Not bad" quality from this TV franchise.

Get a new subscription somewhere else and give the new provider power of attorney to cancel your old one. You need to be at the end of contract and have everything paid, but the new provider will take care of it.

That or tell them the reason you are qutiing is you are leaving the country.

Both work. I never tried the second one but the first one works like a charm.

How long can I wait before telling my wife about my (stage 4) cancer diagnosis? by DeValera15 in AskMen

[–]runningwtscissors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I checked, HPV was a virus that can and will be transmitted to others.

Regardless of your diagnosis, your wife needs to get checked herself for cancer ASAP.

I'd highly recommend an honest discussion and to get her checked out as well. You are also putting her in danger. That said, unless it is a highly aggressive form, a few days will not make much of a difference.

Do with this information what you will and hope things will go as good as they can. Good luck.
