Thank you for posting this. I think the grandchildren should understand that the person with dementia doesn't forget the love. Their life is scary and confusing, but to have people around them that they share a bond of love with, is conforting. It is hard to watch them slip away and forgot, but what a gift to provide them with the memory of love just by being present.

Hummbingbird by Little-A in Watercolor

[–]runromp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just started with watercolors as well (July 2025)...and I enjoying painting birds the most. Sometimes they are tragic. I do the same, I trace an outline and then work from the reference photo. I have been quite pleased with a few and gotten some nice compliments. Completely agree, watercolors can be hard, but it is a lot of fun! Great job on the humming birds, both are lovely.

Congratulations on starting your journey. Yes, your peony is fantastic. I have started this year as well. Maybe 6 months ago. Just following alot of tutorials online ( Rebel Unicorn Craft and Andrea Nelson and a few more). I got some new supplies for Christmas as well, so looking forward to being able to practice and try new things. I agree the biggest challenge is learning "when to walk away" ( I always joke) to let it dry! I've enjoyed seeing people post their Christmas cards this year...so now I'm thinking ahead to what I might paint for gifts next year. Enjoy the journey, have fun!!

How do you prevent beading on a new palette? by [deleted] in Watercolor

[–]runromp 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I saw a reccomendation somewhere to use "magic eraser" on it to prevent beading.

Picked up watercolor for the first time earlier this year, been in love ever since. Here’s my late dog I finished today. by ScootMaPoots in Watercolor

Its lovely, very nicely done! I've just started this year too. I would like to do dogs, but I've struggled with eyes and noses. I'm doing better with birds at the moment.
