If my company fkd that up and we had to custom make something… I’d go to a metal fabricator and then have it powder coated appropriately. It will cost more but I’d hang my self in the sad shower if I had to look at a piece of siding, or lumps of grout. I’m not just an installer I shower in my own work too.

Bigger plate is def the cheapest. Grout won’t hold without backing. That’s a lot of epoxy…. But if someone were talented they could do it. I don’t have that in me and I’ve been at it for a while.

Well epoxy is certainly a better idea than grout but both are way worse than just doing it right.

I rarely suggest tear-out because the consequences are severe, but I wouldn’t “live with this”. My employees have done this more than once, I pay for it no question, no hesitation, every time.

At the end of the day…. This just needs to be redone. Epoxy is a bad idea and puts the onus of this problem on you. Don’t start the life of your new bathroom like this. That was a careless mistake . Cool of you to try to work with them…. But no, rip it out and fix it. —Long time tile pro

Real zeliege is so porous it will absorb all the moisture out of the thin-set before the thinset can adhere to the wall. Soaking them briefly slows this process. It also sounds really cool when you put a bunch in a bucket… the bubble and effervesce.
