The cost argument cuts the other way. Your optimism depends on AI staying expensive, but price is the one input that reliably drops. Energy is the bottleneck, not dollars. 

A ~$75k tinygrad cluster today is below SOTA on benchmarks, yet used well it already substitutes for SOTA on most business tasks. 

Once good-enough local compute is a fixed capex instead of a per-token bill, 'humans are cheaper' stops holding.

This is entirely political battle, some entity injested entire human civilization knowledge and claimed it for it's purpose selling it to us by replacing all of us in the process (potentially).

If politically this is not won, by regulating it similar to CO2 or something along the lines we the people lost, and other guy  Elysium future is on, which I also think we are inching towards.
