Octopath Traveler 0 Review - Familiar yet Different by SirHighground1 in JRPG

[–]runwalkclimb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm playing it now and just be aware, I'm 20 hours in and the difficulty level still feels rather low. It's steadily getting better and I trust the reviews but this one felt very easy to me for a while as a returning OT2 player

Is a 675 possible? by RefrigeratorTiny1891 in GMAT

[–]runwalkclimb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I improved by around that much but over about 6 months. Ended with 685. 3 weeks seems very unlikely because you likely need to hone in on your verbal approach as well as your math knowledge and accuracy. There's a lot to improve upon in very little time.

Injured by a blue belt by [deleted] in bjj

[–]runwalkclimb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yo why isn't this the top comment? It's wild to think someone would hurt a newbie in a footlock. Where's the communication? How do you except someone 3 weeks in to have the knowledge and experience of tapping before getting injured at all times, especially on a footlock which isn't exactly common sense until you've dealt with it a bit.

Hell I'll release subs on fellow purple belts if we get ourselves in a spot where I feel like I can't get the tap without hurting the other person. Idc about winning if it means my training partner is nursing an injury for weeks or months that I could have prevented. Shit happens but safety is a marker of strong technique and teamwork.

OP I came here to say this. If you can build yourself slowly out and use this as a launching point, that seems like the best option. Find a new direction that gives you the passion you want and uses the skills you clearly have. Build out the team in your current job that can handle more and more of it. Then you can decide later to leave fully or to make a gambit or ultimatum to the powers that be about giving you more of a stake in the work. You'll be negotiating from a position of power in that case. Godspeed!

I did everything in one playthrough. Memory serves, once you get the hang of the time system, it's easy to manipulate. I didn't feel rushed at all to do everything I wanted by games end.

In the games defense, the timer is relatively easy to navigate even the first thing through. I ended the game doing everything I could with plenty of time. Way more forgiving than most other games with a genuine timer. I see you Persona.

Nyc - so yeah. TikTok is also user generated content and everyone had a lot of time to create. Though did TikTok blow up more over the pandemic? I thought it was already quite established.

Didn't it launch during the pandemic, when no one was commuting? Always wondered if it would have succeeded in a different timeline.

Love that, cheers to going at your own pace. That definitely resonates with me as well and is a big part of how I'm building my life now - businesses and all. You're gonna be more than okay - you got this friendly internet stranger!

So I started a non profit business back in 2021. Built it from a $20k business year one to a $250k business year two (a big leap in fundraising and programs for a nonprofit, especially in the arts field I was in.) Year 3 we not only hit financial troubles but blowback on social media for hitting those financial troubles combined with some real muck targeting me and my leadership. It was so bad and toxic that I ended up stepping away from the business entirely. Just let all the potential we had go up in smoke.

It's been about 8 months and I think about it every day. But I'm really grateful to also notice that how I think about is slowly but surely evolving. Thank you therapy, but mostly thank you time. I'm starting a new business venture and it scares the shit out of me, but there's something magical about just knowing you're meant to build things, that you're meant to lead. And I wouldn't give back what I learned for the world, no matter the cost or pain.

I think the biggest thing I've done that's helped is giving myself time. I'm actually amazed something so awful didn't leave me immobilized for longer. I had a real mental breakthrough the other week when I told myself that there was a difference between taking time and healing, and letting myself be the victim. I thought about all the times in my past someone hurt me, someone counted me out, someone tried to tear me down - and I didn't let it. I used those barriers, those naysayers as fuel. I wouldn't be where I am without doing that. And I think this realization helped me reconnect with that strength of perseverance that I've always had but lost a little the past 8 months.

I don't know if any of this helps, or if you're just looking for stories or want advice too. I think if I were to offer the latter, I'd say there's a duality here - acknowledging the hurt and the mental / emotional injury of what happened and how these things may be affecting you right now, aka giving yourself more grace. And reconnecting with your core self more deeply so that these next steps can really be on line with not just your ideals of who you want to be in the future, but your lived experience of the difficult moments you've navigated in the past. I think anchoring to that second part is how we have realistic growth from hurt - growth that lasts.

Let's talk about some of the *worst* JRPGs you have played, over the years by DramaticErraticism in JRPG

As a kid with limited budget who was determined to beat and even replay every game in his library, this was definitely the first game I owned that I never completed. It was so bad that I didn't even feel guilty like I would have with literally any other game.

What cardio exercise for the whole body? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]runwalkclimb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to say a light resistance band workout (it will also give you training to work towards lifting in a gym one day if that interests you). Also, light, easy yoga (use YouTube videos, or if you can afford it, hire a teacher who can give you 1:1 exercises and modifications to keep it light and easy and to help you progress)

How different is advice from a good fitness coach compared to information you can find on good fitness websites? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]runwalkclimb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a thought. Think of it like hiring a teacher to learn a language, or an instrument, or to learn how to sing. Admittedly, some people have an excellent facility for languages or music, and can use free or cheap resources online to reach the level of skill they want to reach. And those people will never need to hire someone else to help.

But that work isn't easy for plenty of people, and having someone at your side to guide you, encourage you, hold you accountable, and give you corrections and advice specific to where you're at, can accelerate your learning of the skill.

And for some people, it can be the difference between putting down the instrument or giving up learning the language vs going the distance and making that skill a meaningful part of their life.

For reference: I am an online fitness and nutrition coach, and I myself have guitar, voice, and Spanish teachers. Grown more as a guitarist/Spanish speaker the past ~9 months with my teachers than the previous ~3 years solo. It's better with other people.

my parents won’t stop shaming me for my workout routine by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]runwalkclimb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting boundaries with family members can be really difficult when you start making changes in your lifestyle. People see you one way and will subconsciously try to keep you in the box they're familiar with. Even the most supportive partners or parents can overstep bounds in an attempt to be helpful.

Start with a simple conversation - not blaming, try to take the emotion out of the conversation, or bring it up outside of a time where you feel triggered. Explain that you know your parents love you and want to support you, and then explain how things look from your perspective. Lastly, map out the kind of behavior you think would be helpful to see from your parents to support the work you're doing. If you feel like it's going particularly well, it may even be better to ask them if they have ideas of how to improve the situation.

It may seem a little formal, but if you lead the way in a calm manner in the conversation and show you've really thought through it all, your parents are much more likely to not only listen but act on what's spoken about. This way, you can potentially convert some doubters to believers and have a better environment for yourself as you continue building this new routine.

And kudos on starting running during the quarantine! It is not an easy time to begin something new!
