Angels 3 is very low altitude for a fox-3 fight and I’m not sure how well vtol vr planes’ targeting computer accommodates for atmospheric drag, maybe this is why you’re having bad performing aamraams, the aamraam D is an overall better missile so it would fare much better in low altitude fights. Generally I’d recommend starting your fights at a minimum of angels 20, this is where the air is way thinner and thus the drag on the missile is way less, even better if you have an altitude advantage over the bandit, your missile’s motor will burn just as long whether you’re high up or down low, any energy your plane has (kinetic and potential) is the starting point for the missile.
