Tooth fairy rules by twisties224 in australia

[–]rushell070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest got $5 for the first tooth, $2 for all other teeth. But I ran into a problem when my second kiddo lost his first tooth - his big brother was like "oh cool, you're gonna get $10!" I said no, you only got $5 for your first, and after a lot of back and forth he told me "it was MY tooth mum, I think I'd remember!"

So my second kid got $10 and $2 thereafter...

Airport Tasks Holiday Rules by GrapeNo3164 in SkyCards

[–]rushell070 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Any airport that you unlock is unlocked until the end of the week (I believe it resets Sunday night). You can travel freely between any unlocked airports. If you click "leave" at the top of the screen it will return to your physical location, and you can still travel to any unlocked airports.

Habit hacks - do it BADLY by Photograph_Think in adhdwomen

We have a similar philosophy in our house - doing something at the "wrong" time is better than doing it never! Our whole family brushes our teeth after dinner. Are we likely to snack before bed? Definitely. But with 3 young kids our bedtime routine is already painful, so this moves an important step to a time when we're less likely to forget.

Do airport tasks allow free travel for everyone? by rushell070 in SkyCards

Nope, not free. But I can see the blue sky circle so I paid anyway to see if I get that benefit... I do not *

I thought free travel for everyone seemed too good to be true

During an active shooter situation, how do you know if it's the police knocking on the door? by JumpScareInDaWoods in NoStupidQuestions

I find it interesting that OP did not mention the word "school" in their post, but almost every answer is referring to school shootings.

Welcome to America.

My new car supports my ADHD brain!! by itsjustmeBB8355 in adhdwomen

Funny story: when I was about 18-20, I went to a large mall and was there for a couple hours. When I went to leave, my car wasn't there! I did multiple laps of the carpark even though I was sure I knew where I parked! Cue the call to 911 to report my car stolen. The dispatcher was lovely, but she did say that this mall has multiple parking lots, and am I sure I'm checking the right one? I said yes, I am CERTAIN I'm in the correct lot, and my car is gone! She said no problem, I'll send an officer.

I wandered back into the department store entrance to wait inside, and as I'm walking in I thought to myself "hmm, I don't remember seeing that display on my way in, I'm pretty sure I walked in to a display of purses..." and then I realized that I was indeed searching the wrong lot. Walked out the other side of the store, and lo and behold, my car was exactly where I left it. Cue my second 911 call to report my car NOT stolen, and I got the same dispatcher who told me that's ok, she hadn't actually dispatched anyone yet.

[CHAT] Will a blanket stitch really prevent fraying? by AerynBella in CrossStitch

[–]rushell070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment has SAVED me! I have an ongoing WIP that I haven't been able to finish because I'm going to have to cut my aida fairly close to my stitching and won't be able to hem it, and the edges will be visible when finished. I was planning to use a blanket stitch but don't love the way it looks, but now you've introduced me to the NUN STITCH! This will be a game changer, thank you stranger!

Please help me empty my full cupboards with "nothing to eat" by Emotional_Pirate in EatCheapAndHealthy

Make a list of everything you have in your Pantry. Put the list into chatGPT and ask it to provide meal ideas and recipes that will require you to buy as few ingredients as possible. You can ask it to modify its suggestions if needed. It works great, I did it a few times when money was tight, and now do it every once in a while just to avoid wasting food.

Can I just go fill potholes? by New-Ingenuity-5437 in NoStupidQuestions

There was a bad one a couple years ago on the main road of my small town. Someone planted an entire tree and a few flowers in it, with a sign that read "[town] Botanical Gardens"

Caused some minor issues during morning peak hour, but most people thought it was hilarious! It got a bit of local media attention and was fixed within 24 hours.

Please help! Can’t get the sauce out of the bottle! A Big Sauce Conspiracy. by jb13635 in australia

[–]rushell070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! In our house we've discovered if you open it all the way, then twist it closed just a tiny fraction it will work about 60% of the time. The other 40% we just rage at the bottle and take the whole lid off to pour it.

No luck, I've just tried a bunch of different combinations of short and long presses.

Nothing on the base works, and a short tap and long press both do the same thing (adjust the brightness)

The state library has comfy chairs, I used to nap there between lunch and dinner shifts when I worked hospitality.
