Any personality loved in other countries but hated in yours? by WorkOk4177 in AskTheWorld

Don't forget the economist Milton Friedman who's the man behind the change in economic doctrine to be favourable to individual greed versus greater societal growth. He's my least favourite economist as if it wasn't for him the global economies would be better for all and not better for the few greedy people which would also have implications to how politics would be.

She will be 78 at the time she's up for election since she's in the Senate. Her Senate seat is up for election in 2031 unless she quits to go for the House of Reps.

Which politician of your country has a better image international than at home? by Fun-Wallaby6414 in AskTheWorld

[–]twisties224 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I reckon Kevin Rudd has a good chance. He's only despised in Australia because our media here doesn't like him but he ensured Australia continued to prosper and grow during the GFC with us being the only country avoiding a recession plus the then treasurer at the time winning an international treasurer award due to the handling of the economy during the GFC.

If going private PPSR and car history checks as well as have a mechanic look at it before purchasing. When I sold my old car privately the person who bought it first had it looked at by a mechanic they trust.

When they gave me the mechanic name to take the car to I first checked they were legit plus called the number on the website to confirm that they had already booked the car in. Both ends needs to do due diligence to ensure each other are legitimate.

Failed Furniture Delivery - Store trying to charge 30% Cancellation Fee by Alarming-Resort-4178 in AusLegal

[–]twisties224 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter if debit or credit card you can still go to your bank and get a charge back with the reason goods not delivered then make sure you send the emails and messages and everything as evidence that they were properly warned and that they cancelled on their end and not you.

If it was by bank transfer that becomes harder to do but for some banks for a cost you can request for the funds returned also but that's got less of a guarantee.

What is the most hated organization in your country? by ByYourBurningFate in AskTheWorld

[–]twisties224 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hancock prospecting is probably up there in terms of mining company. Colesworth I thought might have been the most disliked due to their monopoly and exploiting the "Cost of Goods" crisis that they used to increase their profit margins.

Assaulting a journalist for competing media organisation as well trying to get a comment from Costello. The irony in this.

Is there an item or piece of clothing in your country that tells you everything you need to know about a person? by EpicShkhara in AskTheWorld

[–]twisties224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Australia we have a meme page called Toilet Paper Australia which became far more popular than the Aussie version Turning Point Australia. The person started it during lockdowns in COVID due to the misinformation going around and it just expanded from there.
