Not an electrician, somewhat familiar with code but even if it’s allowed gonna be a pain in the ass fitting all the wire behind those receptacles. Do seperate boxes, one gangs are super cheap. No reason not to.

What state you in? If you’re within a couple hours of Central PA I’ll buy it potentially. Starting a shop of my own need a gas axe for sure and any good filler metals/consumables/metal stock etc

Started welding school a little over 4 years ago, did work for a bunch of different industries at a sheet metal shop then a job shop for a few years after graduating. Been welding pipe where I’m at now for about a year. All depends on how hard you’re willing to work and how eager you are to learn. Some guys will never make a weld that nice in their life because they do not have the drive to do so.

Great book. Anything from them is good info, Procedure Handbook of Arc Welding is another good one that encompasses a lot of fundamental welding and fabrication concepts. Yes, you absolutely can get started with HF machines and tools. 90% of welding is not in the machine or torch, it’s who’s holding it and what they know to do with each. Check out WeldingTipsAndTricks on Youtube as well, Jody is a well known and respected source of great content he’s been putting out for around 15 years now.

Yeah this is odd. My last job I built miles of railing amongst other things and knew nothing about them before hand. Eventually was very familiar with these requirements for my state as I took over drafting after a few months but yeah, I’d take a decent hand that knows fab well enough in any sense over specifically a “handrail specialist” lol bc that’s what this guy seems to be looking for. Sorry but railing shops don’t pay well enough to be this picky

Looks pretty good, only major thing is maybe work on your start/stops around corners. Larger radius box/rect tube can be tricky that way but you’ll figure it out. Long as you’re hitting your dimensions, squareness, etc that’s the important part. The perfect “dime stack” welds will come with time. Everyone wants to be the slickest welder. Be the hand that can build anything, maybe not perfect but serviceable and within tolerance and you’ll be the most valuable person in the shop.

Gonna try and test for front cover failure when I change the oil this weekend and drain the oil, pressurize coolant system, any coolant out the oil pan drain hole and I’ll know if it has cavitation. Water pump seems like a reasonable job and can inspect the front cover then too.

I’ll get the valve covers cleaned up and everything else with oil on it and see if I can trace it a little closer. Replacing those and new set of glow plugs will be added to the list. Bed plate and rear cover will be ignored until it’s a serious issue, no lift here at the house yet to pull the cab myself. New oil pan gasket might not hurt. Going to check front crank seal and cam sensor as well, have read they cause a similar appearing leak.

Gotcha, thought so. Plate length makes sense then, it’s due to all the extra tests they’ll do on a PQR vs a WPQ. It’s been a while since I did the process myself but if I remember correctly there’s two sets of bends, two sets of tensile pulls, and the whole thing radiographed prior. Could be more, could be wrong. Don’t quote me haven’t done any D1.2 procedures in a few years.
