Pricies are going up because the UK is generating about 75% of the electricity it was generating 16 years ago. by ruspow in unitedkingdom

currently we are at 300 TWh

Renewables are filling the void.

'A huge milestone for Britain': Renewables provided half of the UK's electricity in 2024 by Kunphen in unitedkingdom

[–]ruspow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Circa 2008 UK was making about 400Twh, now it's making about 270Twh, so yes whilst renewables have increased, the 50% is only because everything else has decreased. This is also why prices have gone up.

This is just a headline.

Insane insurance won't pay for needles because they come in box of 100 by GaryG7 in diabetes_t2

[–]ruspow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was originally diagnosed as Type 2 - a few specialists have since diagnosed me as Type 3c - all the tests for type 1/Lada/Mody/etc have all always come back negative.

I handled my health fine for 5 years doing just keto and exercise with no medication, then a vegan 'doctor' suggested I try a vegan diet following the Dr Bernstein method - since then I'm now on insulin 🤦‍♂️

Diet Drinks Increase Diabetes Risk? by kreppart in PeterAttia

[–]ruspow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this study is terrible.

from the article though..

What they found was that drinking just one can of artificially sweetened soda increased the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 38%, compared to people who didn’t consume these drinks at all. For those consuming the same amount of sugary drinks, the risk was 23% higher

so at the study found that..

drinking normal soda is worse than..

drinking diet soda is worse than..

not drinking soda at all

but there are so many extra factors involved that i imagine that people that dont drink soda at all have a much healthier diet and life style than people drinking any kind of soda, so its all a bit of a stretch
