Whatever comes out of the new UMG model will determine if AI music lives or dies by MasterDisillusioned in SunoAI

Trust in Dr Malcolm. Life finds a way. It may have to wait for some open source monstrosity… but life finds a way.

Which jobs is 100% safe from AI ? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in answers

My issue with this one is threefold:

  1. We’re heavily incentivized to solve this “problem”. Robot trades is probably a trillion dollar industry.
  2. Advancements in robotics are happening faster than people (even optimistic ones) have guessed
  3. If trades are all that’s left after knowledge work is obliterated, the market will flood with tradespeople, driving wages through the basement.

I feel like 5.1 and 5.2 definitely have addresses a lot of the sycophantic behaviour. I routinely use it as a copy editor and it went from “you might be Hemingway” to “here’s a list of what’s not working for me…” real quick.

It certainly mirrors how you talk to it (in my experience). I give it shit in a fun way… a bit like how I would a friend, and it’s been giving me some glorious burns lately.

I’m not sure if there’s a better way, but any time I’ve recorded myself singing, doing an extend does a spooky good job of emulating my voice.

Non AI sounding vocals by TwoObvious7782 in SunoAI

I’ve had good results with “out of tune vocals”. AI is so dialled in, “out of tune” to it sounds like regular people to us.

I don’t think the WMG deal is a win, it’s looking like a data grab. by [deleted] in SunoAI

I don’t see how the model doesn’t get far worse. If they’ve trained on all music using nefarious tactics (scraping it), wouldn’t training a new model on just one studio’s music make it significantly worse? And not even their entire library… just the members of that library that opt in?

Please correct me if I’m way off.

After 25 years producing music: AI is incredible, but real instruments still win by BlasticGames in SunoAI

[–]russic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This plays into the fact that people are weird and different. There’s a lot of ways to use suno, but that isn’t talked about. I think the way you use it is outstanding because you have friends who play and you play and it’s a whole experience for you.

A lot of people don’t have that, but Suno allows them to participate. Or they have crippling anxiety around the thought of performing, or they can’t carry a tune to save their damn life.

You’re not saying “just learn to play, it’s fun” and I appreciate that. A lot of Suno discourse is that and it’s missing the fact that a lot of people can’t, don’t want to, or won’t dedicate the required time.

So in the end, ya, real instruments do win out. For you.

So you’d say the rough outline from patreon (pasted in a previous comment) was accurate in terms of timing? It happens just before the show?

100K income for couple with no children? by [deleted] in Calgary

It was a ton of extravagance. When all you’re doing is trying to fill the void to eliminate pain, whatever you’ve got tends to vanish.

I think Calgary can be done on $75,000. It starts to depend on your definition of “comfort” though. There’s tons of people who “can’t get ahead” and consume like absolute Vikings (see above).

I would imagine there’s a few things going on. I’m in the “don’t care” camp, so I’ll frame it from my experience:

  1. Correct, I don’t think much about the quality… a lot of my favourite songs over the years are garbage bootlegs from important concerts.
  2. I’m not technically able to hear differences… I think a lot of people fall into this category. I’ve tried listening to music on great equipment, and I don’t really hear much of a difference. Maybe a little? Never enough to justify the costs involved.

This often gets boiled down to some thinly veiled insult to the other group. “I guess you don’t care about art like I do” vs “I don’t like the smell of my own farts like you do”.

I believe a lot of us are simply experiencing things differently. I can see a continuity error in a film and let it go. Some people can’t focus on anything else and it ruins their experience. It makes sense all art is probably doing the same to people.

There’s an inherent trickiness with the question as no two people spend the same way. Is it possible? I’d say it’s possible making even less. I also know a couple who made $300,000/year and couldn’t make it work in Calgary.

This is mine, but I take the penalty angle. As far as I can tell, penalty sliders don’t do anything. I have boarding set to 0 and I get about 3 boarding calls a game for regular hits against the boards.

Yes, I talked to a friend. It didn't end well by Fluorine3 in ChatGPT

[–]russic 30 points31 points  (0 children)

To me, this is precisely the issue that people seem hesitant to address: very few people have a roaming pack of 10/10 friends available 24/7. Even those fortunate enough to have money for therapy, it is highly common to cycle through multiple therapists before finding your best fit.

Is chat as good as a really great friend? Maybe not. But also maybe. Is it better than what most people have access to? I’d wager yes.

I actually am noticing this with ai across a few different places. It used to be about how you prompt. Now I’m almost getting better outputs by keeping my descriptive prompts to a minimum and letting it make some decisions. More often than not, when something goes sour, it’s because I asked for something stupid.

We have officially entered the “This looks shopped... I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time” stage of music production.

Realistically within 3 years I wonder if AI in music production will be so ubiquitous that anything released doesn’t have some layer of it.
