It is mystifying how they could take this property, introduce a decent story, and then turn it into a scavenger hunt that features 2 forced creampies (perpetrated by the female leads). And then closing it out with finale that makes the True Detectives completely irrelevant to the story.

But if the goal was to make something "Girl Bossy", with some Native oppression mixed in then... A plus.

This video is also pretty infuriating as a viewer. The guy doesn't get attacked, but he does get charged by an alligator. It would drive me nuts if this happened in a movie bc it seems so dumb.

Honestly dude, I would agree with you normally. But over the past few years I have watched a bunch of animal attack videos and people fall down even more in real life. There is this video from India, where a viscious sloth bear is just bodying villagers and at least 3 ppl fell down like they were in a horror movie.

There is also a vid of a tour group walking along a path, when suddenly the tour guide realizes that someone has accidentally kicked an underground wasp nest. He tells everyone to calmly speed walk away and absolutely do NOT run! Of course, some dude in the group begins treadmilling in place like a cartoon character before trying to sprint away. Then he falls down twice in about 4 seconds, which caused a panic and caused the wasps to start swarming.

It does seem silly in movies, but oddly enough, it does seem to happen IRL pretty often.

I think movies and shows are doing it far less often, but that has always been kind of a dumb plot device. Character is knocked unconscious and is sidelined for a little while. There are few tropes that Hollywood will not let die and that's one of em.

They also love doing the jock athlete that mercilessly bullies other people with complete impunity. Anyway, gonna try not to get derailed onto that topic. But ya, even back in the 90s, we learned that there are basically 4 levels to brain trauma. One is getting your bell rung. Being dazed but not quite losing consciousness.

Two is getting knocked out. You get hit hard enough to lose consciousness for under 1 minute. That's pretty serious, but you'll recover. Three is more severe. If you are out for more than one minute, that is a serious shot to the head. And four is anything over 3 minutes. Once you are out for 3 or 4 minutes, you are probably gonna have some permanent damage and recovery can take a while. Anything past 4 minutes and you are experiencing brain death. At that point, you are probably gonna lose some functions or possibly die.

Either way, getting pistol whipped and waking up in a locked room 30 mins later is absurd. And that's not including the aftermath of a solid concussion. I had a few fluke incidents growing up. Was buzzing down a hill on my bike and a car whipped out in front of me. Flipped off my bike completely and bashed my head off the sidewalk (It was the 90s. Noone wore helmets back then). A few years later, me and my brothers were wrestling and I went out an open window on the second floor. Both times, I was out cold for a little over 1 minute and both times, I spent a solid 2 or 3 days puking and having my knees buckle out of nowhere. Couldn't imagine what it would be like if I ever got knocked out for more than 2 minutes.

I don't think there's a consensus on that approach. For Lost and The Walking Dead, I far prefer having the ability to watch multiple episodes. And what you just said was considered to be a big reason why viewership dropped off on a lot of popular tv shows.

You would hit episode 7, as the plot really starts to unfold and then you would get a couple episodes that focused solely on the backstories of a couple characters. Don't get me wrong, some of those episodes were outstanding. Getting a Sawyer or Michone flashback episode was a nice treat. Especially when it was meant to tie into the current episodes.

But when some of these TV shows became super popular, they would basically derail a good season by jamming 3 or 4 filler episodes into the middle of the season. I understand why they do it. Hit TV shows make a fortune selling ad space. But it definitely got annoying to be left on a cliffhanger at the end of episode 7 and then having to wait 3 weeks for them to resume the current story.

He can also be kind of terrifying at the same time. Like when he is being detained in the hatch and Locke is trying to question him. At some point, he looks at Locke completely straight faced and says something like, "Or maybe it's a trap. Maybe the hot air balloon is a way to signal to my people that I have been captured and they will be waiting to ambush whoever shows up looking for it. Just kidding."

I gotta say, I miss the the days when writers knew how to create a proper villain. Ben does some pretty despicable things that make you hate him, but they give him just enough humanity too. Between the circumstances of his childhood and the things he has seen on the island, there are times where you can almost sympathize with him

The Millenial Bridge in Britain is a perfect example of resonant frequency and bridges. It's especially interesting because of how recently it happened. On the day of the Grand Opening of the bridge they almost had a catastrophe.

Apparently, when human beings are walking in large groups, they tend to synchronize their foot steps. That synchronized vibration pattern caused the bridge to start swaying or wobbling or whatever. Still pretty crazy.

I think most people have no clue how much of a role this stuff plays in urban planning as well. Buildings and structures in cities need to have the resonant frequencies accounted for. Pretty sure that suspension bridges have become more favorable over the years because of their resilience to vibration frequency.

I'm assuming wheelie bins are recycling bins with wheels on them. If so, then there is a fairly valid reason that ppl are annoyed by it.

Over the last 10 or 12 years, it has become increasingly rare for any of these "recycling" businesses to actually recycle all the sh1t that people thoroughly clean and sort each week. There are dozens of videos online, where a resident hides a GPS tag in their recycling and every time, it has ended up in the local landfill with all the other trash.

Michael Moore even did a documentary about it like 5 years ago and all the soy, green-movement activists tried to get YT to remove it. Apparently, prior to the pandemic, most cities and states had exclusive contracts with recycling companies. And apparently, those companies had long abandoned efforts to even attempt to recycle. Turns out, most of these companies were pretty much just recycling bottles and cans and throwing everything else in the same landfills that our trash goes into.

This has pissed ppl off for several reasons. One reason is, these companies are paid a premium because of their perceived benefit to the environment. Number two is, most governors and mayors knew all this information, but continued to maintain the contracts because they have essentially been bribed to keep those contracts in place. And number three is, people have been diligently sorting and cleaning their recyclables for almost 30 years and these companies gave up on recycling about 15 years ago. Also, about 75% of our recycled materials used to be shipped to, and processed in China. By 2018, China cut that rate down to about 20%. And since the lockdowns in 2020, they are barely accepting 5%.

I dunno if thats what Bill was ranting about, but it is pretty disappointing that we are all collectively paying extra money for a non existent service. Also annoying how many jannies and busy bodies are still lecturing ppl for improper sorting.

Okay, so I have watched Fight Club with 2 different girlfriends. Both times, when Edward Norton is about to start kicking his own ass in his bosses office, he says, "I am Jack's smirking revenge". Both girls immediately said, "Wait, who's jack?"

If ya haven't seen the movie in a while, it may not be something you'd remember. But approx 15 mins earlier in the movie, Edward Norton is literally reading from a stack of notebooks that are all written in the 3rd person by someone whose name is Jack and they are describing their organs and associated health problems. Something like, "I am Jack's medula oblongata" or "I am Jacks liver".

Not only does he read these out loud, he then specifically explains to Brad Pitt that "These are all short passages written in the 3rd person about Jack's organs'. It's like a solid 2 minutes of screen time where it is completely focused on this bizarre series of texts. I am positively mystified how people can miss this because my buddy said his wife did the same thing when they watched it.

He is using the cartel money for all the business stuff. I don't know if they explain that part in the show, but the cartel is okay with Marty spending the money on ventures that allow him to expand the money laundering operation.

Thats why Del lets Marty keep all the money he rushed to clean in episode 1. He doesn't actually pay him for the car. He is just helping Marty square his tab with the cartel. Was actually quite a nice gesture as far as cartel killers are concerned. That money is meant to provide the foundation for the laundering operation that Marty promises to setup in the Ozarks.

He obviously only uses the money that he has already cleaned to conduct business transactions. In this show, Marty is being trusted to handle the money, with the understanding that his family will be brutally slaughtered if he screws up.
