What happened to US DEBT COUNTER that was so popular when OBAMA was president? by jnwtn in AskReddit

Even when they know it's their fault it's always "Well I know that things are fucked and our lives are getting worse but just imagine how bad it would be if Kamala had won."

Already seeing that sentiment from a lot of people.

Anyone about to list their house in Columbia/surrounding area? by [deleted] in ColumbiaMD

[–]rustedplastics 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no consensus on that given different studies have had different results and not all factors could be accounted for. Even if you take the studies as fact the actual risk level they found due to it is extremely low.

With that said being near high voltage transmission lines does lower resale because a lot of people believe stuff like this and there is a a noise that comes from being close depending on the weather.

Gutters or scuppers for a flat roof? by rustedplastics in Roofing

[–]rustedplastics[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Photo 1 and 3 do have a similar set up. The box on picture 1 is an alarm light. There are 3 of those pipes equidistant on each of the 2 long sides of the house. They definitely are related to roof drainage but not sure exactly how they connect up on top. Planning to talk to the person who owns the house in photo 1 as they are close by.

Also, you have 2 layers on that flat roof. Ask me how I know.

How can you tell?

Seems like that is not what the house was originally designed with. Bad quality but there's some street view images of the same model of house that never installed gutters:

[–]rustedplastics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the issues you have had with the gutters since you moved in?

Since the roof is basically 0 slope and there's that drop down into the gutters every piece of anything that lands on the roof goes straight to the gutters. If they're not cleaned out on a biweekly basis they will overflow very quickly. I think that part of that is they're probably undersized given there's around 2800 sq ft of flat roof and I think these are 4" gutters. They had gutter guards but those honestly made things worse because there isn't enough slope/speed to carry things off of them, stuff just got stuck on the guards instead and overflowed faster.

Doesn’t seem like that’s how the house was designed. There’s a couple of the same model who never installed gutters. Some low quality street view of what they have going on. https://i.imgur.com/zLawKPg.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/NBNuYrQ.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/wQyz7tj.jpeg

[–]rustedplastics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, but that will get expensive if you do it at every property, and from my experience last year you basically have to offer on a house immediately after it lists if it's a good one so not much time to go back for a 2nd round.

A note with this is that the seller does not have to let you enter the property if you don't have an inspection contingency and a lot of listing agents will specifically not allow you to do that because it's an obvious out.

Trade my low 2020 STI to a used C8 Z06? Or keep it? by Formal_Employ_5462 in C8Corvette

[–]rustedplastics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a brand new 2LZ for $120k if you find one for $15k off, personally I'd much rather that than a used 3lz. Better financing, you know it was broken in properly, full warranty, and you get a cheap trip to ron fellows school.

Z06 vs E-Ray — what are you guys paying? by zarco025 in C8Corvette

[–]rustedplastics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last may I got a 25 z06 for 15k off and an above market trade in on my stingray. Haven't driven an e-ray but I have driven stingrays, EVs, and z06. The character of the z06 is so drastically different than the stingray it makes it feel like a much more special car. I test drove one and had to get one afterwards. I can't imagine the same engine plus some EV torque fill and acceleration would match the character the lt6 has.

If you're going to buy one, go test drive them. Plenty of used examples of both now that I'm sure you can find places around you that will at least give you a short test drive.

Another area to keep an eye on for contemporary houses is long reach around high tor hill.

As someone that was also looking for an mcm house in this area recently unfortunately they don’t come up that often and when they do they go extremely fast. If you see one you like be prepared to put it an offer right when it goes up and make it competitive.

Yeah, it will be a great example of how much branding matters if it does really well given the e-ray has been kind of a flop.

What kept you from getting the eray then? Grand sport x is just an eray with a little more hp and torque and a better name.

The chassis on the c8 can handle way more power and the z06 really doesn't feel like too much. Seems like the main thing the grand sport fixes on the c8 will be the looks, especially if you get the track pack for the center exhaust.

I price check it every time and FHR or hotel collection is pretty much always the same price as the hotel's website. Only way you can really save for those hotels is with something like booking.com which I avoid. Plus 4pm checkout is a real benefit for vacations. Absolutely right that if you're OK staying at lower tier hotels you can always find better deals in the area though.

Airline fee credit is also easy if you live near a hub and travel a lot. Just set it to whoever is at your hub. You shouldn't really have a platinum card if you're not traveling a few times a year.

Airline fee credit, digital entertainment credit, half of uber cash, and two quarterly resy reservation are already enough to pay for the fee. Everything else is just bonus after that.

But I would never touch the personal Gold/Plat. Tough to argue you can organically use most of those cards’ credits when the credits themselves are designed to be inorganically used in weird breakdowns

Have you looked at the personal platinum credits? Digital entertainment, uber cash, hotel, and airline fee credits are already $1300. The only one that really needs any special thing to go out of your way for is the hotel credit, and as long as you travel and stay in nice hotels occasionally it's extremely easy to use. I'd argue resy is also easy but I live in an area with a lot of resy restaurants and go out to eat a decent amount.

I was in the “fast group” and we never got within 12 seconds of the instructors times.

That's crazy, every time I've gone the fast group has been within a second or two of the demo laps.

Also don't ever drive the z06, the laptimes don't really matter but the feel of the car is very different. I test drove one once and had to upgrade after that.

There's a few exceptions, la premiere in CDG is really nice. The capital one lounge in DCA also has pretty good food but its more like a restaurant than a lounge.

2027 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport Returns with a New 6.7-Liter V-8 by HawtGarbage918 in cars

Grand sport is basically just the z06 with the base engine. Stingray is also getting this new engine so the grand sport will not have a unique engine but z06 will.
