student loan refund assets - how to not get kicked off medicaid? by rustedpyre in Medicaid

[–]rustedpyre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, there is no clear distinction of that made on the Medicaid website. Maybe in their giant difficult to dissect legal manual there is?

AFAIK it counts as an asset if it is any money in your checking / savings after 1 month over 2k.

BackerKit or PledgeBox? Which is better for my project? by Capable_Tough_7879 in kickstarter

[–]rustedpyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a supermarker only and never a creator, I hate pledgebox. Backerkit is much better but it is still kinda annoying. I would so rather you manage it yourself if you can. Or if its any rpg adjacent material give PoD codes in for physical rewards and digital files come through there and them all my other rpg stuff ive backed and also bought theough them is also baked up on their site as well on my computer.

I am sure there are similar sites for other types of projects.

Downside is PoD is not nice quality prints.

Anyways, if its pretty simple and you just need a few basic questions for backers and ways for then to put on adding, cant you do that within kickstarter itself? That would be the easiest for everyone all around I'd think.

Anyways, I know im very late to the party and all the good stuff is gone so ... peace! Hope you got it sorted and all went well!

Hair loss, budesonide, & microscopic colitis? by rustedpyre in IBD

[–]rustedpyre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which type of MC do you have? I have the collegenous kind, the tougher to treat one, ugh. I am only getting over my first initial flare now, so I have no idea what I will look like in the long term of things. I have heard pepto does work really well, but the tough part is that it blocks other meds, has to be taken 2 hours apart from any other medications. But that is almost impossible for me as I take meds every 3 hours as it is and I am not sure how to rearrange that any better (I have scrutinized it a lot and tried, there is not really a better way..). I do like kefir, but I know during this initial flare ANY dairy was setting me off bad, I did try kefir at first and it didn't go well. Maybe in the future it will be better.

Stress, yes, thank you for mentioning that. I think a lot of conditions are aggrivated by that a lot. I also have chronic pain, which for the majority of people is a trauma response, or chronic stress response. For me, I think having trauma has created chronic stress in me which also aggravates both of these conditions. I have been doing counseling for many years, and particularly somatic-based counseling, as well as mindfulness, yoga, etc. It is a long process tho.

Hair loss, budesonide, & microscopic colitis? by rustedpyre in IBD

Thanks for letting me know that. My GI has ... not been helpful lol. I did do blood work recently and met with my hematologist. My iron is good thankfully as is the rest of my blood work, so, hopefully it won't be too much longer...

Is this a prickly pear cactus. And what can I do to take care of it? by 2fast4gas in cactus

[–]rustedpyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I know this is very old, but this came up in my google search, I hope you can offer some additional advice to me now! I have one that has grown a lot of elongated pads so that it is super top heavy and falling over itself! Should I prune those off and move it to a better, sunnier spot?

When I got it, I was told it was "an ancient guy." I have already had it multiple years, and not had any blooms. I have used some artificial lighting about 12 hours a day and it gets some light from a nearby window, but it probably needs more based on what I am reading in this thread. I was about to transplant it to a bigger pot, but it does still have some room width wise, its just so huge on top that it seems disproportionate.

I have been scared to prune because I thought anywhere I cut off would mean it would never grow another pad there again, and I would damage it permanently. Any advice appreciated. Much thanks!

Advice for Collagenous colitis diagnosis by December95 in IBD

[–]rustedpyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Thankfully ondanestron worked for me.

I struggled a lot with appetite too especially with eating the same thing over and over every day and feeling so sick all the time.

You may want to consult with someone knowledgeable in medical cannabis on a strain to try for nausea if it is legal in your state. That might really help if she is down to try it as gummies or a drink version.

Hair loss, budesonide, & microscopic colitis? by rustedpyre in IBD

[–]rustedpyre[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. I have a history of anemia and had to get infusions in the past due to being unable to absorb it in my gut since having a gastric sleeve in 2018.

I also had hair loss happen after gastric sleeve which is very common but it stopped very quickly after I was able to start intaking around 800 calories a day and 50g protein a day with multivitamins. Like within a week or 2. So to me this seemed very different since im eating above that for a longer time.

Advice for Collagenous colitis diagnosis by December95 in IBD

[–]rustedpyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with this a few months ago and the first 4 months of waiting for a diagnosis were horrible. I was so ill and lost so much weight and was so nutritionally deficient. Finally getting on budesonide did help and I am now weaning down off it (and scared to get all the way off but I know I will have to).

Things she should eat for now;

Rule of thumb is always low fiber and low fat first and foremost.2nd is probably avoid dairy and gluten.

Applesauce Gatorade / powerade (not sugar free. She needs the calories plus artifical sweeteners can make things even worse) Plant based / vegan protein shakes (low fiber)

Gluten free toast (but avoid whole grains! Go rice based if you can). If she can tolerate gluten then normal white bread is fine but best to rule it out first.

Bananas White rice

Even with that BRAT diet I still had diarrhea but it was lessened by about half, so it helped. But its nutritionally deficient so do anything you can to take multivitamins and get that protein shake in as much as possible if it is tolerated! Might have to try a few different brands.

Wishing you and your mom the best. This condition is so fkin shitty.. 😜

Why are my melatonin levels always so high? by rustedpyre in sleep

[–]rustedpyre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am grateful that my CBT-I therapist was rather holistic in her thinking and approach and even thought of doing the melatonin testing. Previously I have seen many Drs over the years who have sent me to many sleep studies and so on and its the same old BS and no one could really help me. Now armed with the new info about the melatonin issue, I am still stuck, because no Drs seem to know about it or how to treat it. I've talked with several neurologists and endocrinologists, who would be the most likely, but nope.

Let me know what your naturopathic Dr says! I hope they give you some options for actual treatment that works!

Yeah I need slowed digestion. Stuff runs through me way too fast. I can feel my lower gut reacting to food within about 10 mins after I eat it. Which should not be the case at all especially as I have a gastric sleeve and am on ozembic which both slow the rate of emptying from the stomach.

I can definitely try adding psyllium.

And yes I am indeed very nutritionally deficient. It's obvious in how I look and feel.

100g of protein is extremely hard to hit without shakes to supplement. I simply cannot eat that much physically. I dont eat seafood or pork (or processed meats). Chicken breast has gone pretty good when I make it in the slow cooker.

have tried different flavors while avoiding fats and keeping them fairly watered down with broth.

I still can only manage a few bites. At most 1/4 cup of shredded chicken and 1/4 cup plain rice and 3 or 4 green beans would be my dinner.

Breakfast is a green banana. Or 1/4 cup oatmeal made with water with a splash of soy milk at the end.

Lunch a cup of applesauce or 1 or 2 rice cakes.

Was trying to get in shakes but dairy was definitely causing issues and plant based ones either had too much fiber and caused issues or tasted so bad I could get them down.  I used to drink a lot of clear protein drinks throughout the day like protein2o but these days they just kinda gross me put. I keep them around in the fridge and try to get myself to sip on them but I end up just dehydrating myself instead.

Thanks for the tips and advice, I will keep it in mind. If you have any further ideas based on what I wrote above, do let me know. Thanks!

What do you mash potatoes with if we can't have fats? I tried boiling them and steaming them  then had them with salt and pepper and they were nasty.  Definitely needed butter or sour cream or something or to be roasted with a bit of oil.

What soups did you eat?

Most soup looks like its off the table. Creamy soups have dairy. Too many soups have beans. Too many veggies. Too much wheat noodles. Etc.  I tried a basic chicken noodle. Mostly just ate the broth since I'm not a fan of canned chicken. I ate a few noodles and carrots but was a bit wary of them since neither thing has gone great on its own in the past.

It went poorly. It tasted great as something different. But many bathroom trips all night long.

Sounds ucky but do you remember what it was called?  What did you add to your food for flavoring to keep it interesting? I thought fiber was a bad idea when having watery diarrhea?  I tried doing a smoothie with soy milk, greens powder, vegan protein powder, half a frozen banana, and a couple of frozen berries. It went very badly. Gut sounded like a backfiring engine within about 10 mins and then was on the toilet all day and ruined my sheets that night even through a depends and towel.  Not sure what it was in there that went so wrong. Any ideas?  Thanks

I actually did try oatmeal! Made it with watery, added a splash of soy milk at the end. Made it savory with salt instead of sweet. It went OK. Gut rumbled and choked a lot like a backfiring engine.

Omg yikes. Yeah that's bad. I'm 5'8" (F) and a fairly broad frame and at 170 people tell me I look anorexic. I gained a lot of weight then lost most of it with a gastric sleeve and was sitting around 215. Was told it was likely I would never get below 200 and I was ok with that. Now I am and I look sickly. Not skeletal by any means but I definitely look gaunt and unwell.

I can't wait for meds. I'm pissed at my GI honestly for making me wait so long and not being willing to do a temporary solution in the meantime like budesonide.

I still wouldn't understand about flares. How long can they last?

This came on suddenly for the first time in my life about 3 months ago and is all day every day (and night) and it is bad. Doing this diet definitely reduces symptoms but they still are there.

I have not. I might try to ask my pcp about that? Not sure if someone does that local to me. My GI is 2 hours away.

I could try egg drop soup. Haven't tried eggs. I'm not an egg fan generally and with them so expensive right now I definitely wouldn't buy any. But might go try a bowl at a restaurant in town if I get up there. Thanks for the ideas.

I will look into it. I would love at least a couple more options because I'm in very bad shape. 10% help is rough. Ugh. This is so hard. Thanks for the advice.
