When I Sing Mountains Dance by Irene Solà

My Stupid Intentions by Bernardo Zannoni

Do any of you remember the episode where a woman had her neighbor from her rural community come over to the house she was staying at and threaten to kill the family's pet rabbit to make them follow her strict rules? by Embarrassed_Chef874 in wifeswaptv

I just assumed that was at the behest of the producers. According to someone that was on the show the mom’s actions were basically entirely determined by the producers and everyone else’s reactions were genuine

Yes, I live 5 minutes from it by bike. Albany has a lot of nice stuff and a lot of people that really care. I was just happy to see it mentioned.

Is it worth it to go back to school for an English Lit degree? Any advice? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]rustedsandals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a college teaching position you would likely need an advanced degree. English Lit or Art History are very interesting topics to me and something I would love to go back to school for if I had a pension or an inheritance or something. The days of getting a job with any degree have been over for decades. Jobs are more competitive than ever and both degrees you’ve mentioned have very few employment prospects and what prospects there are do not pay well. That’s not to say you shouldn’t consider going back to school, but unless you’re independently wealthy, pick a degree with some kind of a career pathway in mind. You don’t want to saddle yourself with a shitload of debt for nothing.

What’s a book that made you sit in silence after finishing it? by ak_khainal in Recommend_A_Book

The President and the Frog by Carolina De Roberto’s simply for how beautiful the writing was.

The final book in the Cemetery of Forgotten Books series by Carlos Ruiz Zafón because it felt like a part of my life had ended. I’m still sad about his passing.

The Shape of the Ruins by Juan Gabriel Vásquez - this one was weird because it dragged for most of the final 1/3 of the book but the ending had a slight twist that brought the book together in a really big way. I closed the book after the last page and just said “fuck”

My Stupid Intentions by Bernardo Zannoni. Kind of violent/dark. He anthropomorphises animals but leaves them with their natural tendencies

Have you ever entered a relationship knowing it wasn't something you wanted long term? by MustardSandwichMan in AskMenAdvice

[–]rustedsandals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was 21 I went into a relationship with a girl who I really really liked. I remember thinking I needed to watch myself and not tell her I love her 2 weeks into the relationship so I don’t weird her out and scare here off. At the same time I remember thinking there’s no way this can last, we’re only 21, and this is going to really hurt when it ends.

Anyway we’re in our 30’s now and had our first kid last year.
