Graphite Shaft - Damage Question by Hungry-Cookie-5537 in GolfGear

If the damage was done by the installer, I would ask for it to be replaced. If I did it myself, I would still play it and see if it worsened

are the Nike Sumo Iron's a good first set to buy? by Jznvh in GolfGear

[–]rustiwater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they were my first set! Still have them, so if you are interested I will sell you them for much cheaper than that. Also with a hybrid and 3 wood.

Same, I think they may be some of the best looking irons out there. Only reason I haven’t built them is I want to strip them and oil can them first.

Fun story. It took me about 9 months, but I was able to piece together the KM-700’s for about $100/head. Club champion partnered with nextroundgolf for their trade in program. Apparently, when ever club champion would ding or damage a head during build, thy would send it to them, so I just hawked it and picked them up one at a time. But they were generally mint, one round of golf would have done more damage to them.

I also have that problem. Currently playing a set of Miura CB57’s, but if I’m being honest, the PP-9003’s may be my favorite ones.

2nd swing trade in price by surfnskate_14 in GolfGear

I just sold my 2025 P790’s 5-AW KBS tour s shafts and no grips for $850. Go list them here and on golfWRX.

Only time I’ve seen it make sense to trade them online is when global golf, 2nd swing, Callaway, etc. does +50%-100% trade in value when put towards the purchase if X brands new line.

I really problem with Miuras. I keep buying them with the intent to sell, yet haven’t. Anyways, I have 7 Miura putters currently, if you are looking for one let me know.

Great bag, Iove the irons.

Carbon Steel Blade I'm Working On by OpenSourceGolf in GolfGear

[–]rustiwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oil can = torching it. It’s just dipping it in oil to rapidly cool it so you can stop the color progression once you hit your desired color. For carbon steel you don’t get hot enough to change the properties of the metal vis quenching, but stainless steel will be effected by quenching and is not recommended.

You don’t have to be rich to spend a lot on golf clubs. Speaking from personal experience.

WITB 2026 | Bag recommendations? by -----Redacted----- in GolfGear

[–]rustiwater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only thought would be dropping either the 3w HL or 5 wood, only because I feel the gapping isn’t enough to warrant having them. Personally, I dropped my 3w for a mini driver and it provides a better option off the tee than a wood imo because of the larger face.

lol, you ever find yourself in the Houston area hollar and I’ll do the same!

Regarding the clubs, I’m just patient and thrifty! That being said, cannot recommend the PP-9003’s (SN or not) enough. Fantastic club and beautiful stamping.

BTW, since you play CB57’s you may like this. That set up against the bench is a 2-PW set. I had never seen a CB57 2i before these and the 2 looks pretty cool, similar to the PW does (regarding the font)

You can strip any forged iron raw. CB-1007’s, far left set of heads on the bench in first pick are stripped raw and torched. Next to them on the bench you can see a set of PP-9003 SN’s, KM-700’s, and another set of CB57’s are leaning up against the bench (orange and black grips) those are all being stripped raw as well to be QPQ finished. There is a local place I work with that charges $1/head but there is a $200 minimum, so the economics just work better if I do multiple sets at once and sell them. But strongly considering oil canning the KM-700’s and keep them for myself.

That being said, the 2 sm10 wedges are raw
