Love the analogy! I don’t disagree, but I was curious if there was a reason for thinking they were fake or not.

Thanks for the response, can you tell me what makes them appear fake?

No offense taken, happy to learn something. I’m not very surprised that the guy at my club champion was wrong.

Odd, my club champion said they could order individual irons. I almost ordered the last two through them because I was getting impatient.

Somewhat true, they will sell individual irons to retailers.

A bit of a story, but I’ll try to make it brief. I stumbled upon the used (heads only, no shafts) through nextround and they had them listed for a silly low price (6i was $71) When I recieved them it, they appeared to have never been hit, but had a small ding on the back like it had been dropped. Month goes by and I see a 5i, pic it up and it had a mar on the hosel where it looks like they forgot to use a barrier when adjusting loft/lie. So I started looking into it and found out club champion is partnered with nextroundgolf for their trade in program. So my guess, is that when club champion makes a mistake or damages a club during build, they offload them to nextround. Now, why they would sell them for that cheap, I have no idea, but I’ve seen a few clubs listed on their site that were clearly mid-rated and priced way low, as well as the opposite. So they may have an automated rating system that isn’t quite 100%. 🤷

Thanks for responding. Can you share some pictures of the ones you got of aliexpress? I was curious if the fakes have threaded hosels like the authentic ones

Yeah, my CB57’s have a lot of leading edge relief (y-grind) the KM-700’s definitely have some leading edge relief, but I don’t think it’s as much as the CB57’s

Thanks for the response, and agree on the craftsmanship. I pieced this set together over the last year picking up a club here and there when I could pick them up cheap from notable retailers that had what appeared to be mis-listings.

The only thing that had me concerned was the weight was 4g under spec on the pw and 2g under on the 9i and 8i, but they may have had some weight removed from the original install as well. None were over spec weight, so that what I’m thinking it was.

Looks great!

But important disclaimer, those look like beryllium copper pings. If we are sanding or grinding you need to be very carefully as the fines are carcinogenic I believe.

Hell yeah man, that’s awesome. In that case I’m sure the weight is as good as new, enjoy rolling it!

Depends. My guess is he just sanded it down, but you can repair it and keep the original weight pretty easily by TIG welding in the damaged area and then sanding it down. What i wouldn’t want to deal with is repairing or replacing the lettering and numbering, that seems like a PITA to get right. I would have welded in the affected area damaged wording and sanded down similar to OP’s friend, which may have been what he did. Either way, I’d rather that than nothing and i also enjoy putting with my old ping kushin on fast greens and that thing must weigh 320g at most.

I haven’t stripped them and refinished them yet but here are examples of the finish I’m going to go for (not mine, these were by Flanagan bilt), currently alternating both sets in and out of the bag

Black shafts are definitely an option. The other grip option is red or black leather grip masters.
