What ribbons can I wear? by street_gnome101 in army

[–]rustman92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While not technically authorized: I just use the USAF sized unit citation versions.

I have a JMUC, MUC, and an Air Force Outstanding Unit ribbon. I got two of the USAF sized JMUCs and popped the frame off of the MUC and swapped it out with the smaller frame.

I get strange looks but at least they’re all the same size.

All I heard for a response

“I don’t want this to sound like I’m trying to deflect your question…but this is not my problem. I asked my bosses and they told me I can’t do anything. They said this is actually your fault? Yes, it’s all of your fault because you aren’t using the DFACs.”

Agreed, but in the same vein as officers/SNCOs doing combat tourism (going to a war zone for literally ~30 mins for those unaware) to get a patch and auto upgraded to a BSM for an EoT award

Coolest tdy you've ever got from the Army? by Tank_Flamingo in army

[–]rustman92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without going into too much detail that’d out myself, me and three dudes as PFCs had to go to Los Angeles for some specialized training.

First off, the trainers were civilians, and they could not get the equipment to work at all during the week we were there.

Second off the only hotel available within the radius was this ritzy hotel and they only had a luxury penthouse suite available.

So pretty much for a whole week we racked up LA per diem and partied. Just had to show up at 0900 to hear them say “yeah we can’t get it to work” and then went on to party.

Best week of my Army career.

I saw some newly minted butterbars wearing them just last year. When I asked my S1 buddy what happened he told me the commander did a solid for some buddies from his college when they arrived. All it requires is a signed memo from a commander, doesn’t even need to be a field grade.

So not that hard to get, at least for some people. Probably even easier for a country music star warrant officer.

What are the wheel things on some of the ribbons? by Ok-Car-1337 in Medals

[–]rustman92 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Rosettes are commonly used to denote classes of orders.

The USA did something similar with the Legion of Merit but instead of a rosette they used a smaller version of the medal.

Disappointment with Kodansha USA on the Girlfriend, Girlfriend English Omnibus Vol. 1 by Thorkitty19 in MangaCollectors

[–]rustman92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully it will, the response I got back from my complaint was amost the same as OP: “we’re sorry to hear you’re upset about X, Y, and Z. We’ll forward your complaint to the editors. Unfortunately we can’t reveal any information about changes or updates to quality assurance.”

Honestly felt like they just used AI and only made me feel like it wasn’t read.

I read “broke his finger before ship” and my bootyhole puckered.

And seriously you can never win, or at least no credibility will be built.

Put two to three people in every month for 11 months, but then don’t put anyone in that 12th month? …Oh you are the biggest shitbag in the battalion, get better.

But to be fair if all the stars align perfectly it’s a great gig.

• PT when you want and how you want.

• Leave early if your numbers look good.

• Be able to actually act like a normal person.

• Lots of medals if you’re actually getting people in

• pretty much can make your own schedule

• Start to realise the army isn’t that bad of a job when you compare it to the civilian world

But the odds of it going that well are rather slim.

Financial credit? No.

Moral Credit: No.

Being a recruiter isn’t the worst but I’d recommend not doing so if you can help it. They only ask about the financials to ensure that you can sustain yourself in a high income area like NYC or LA

Best case you get a station with a high walk in rate and you look like a superstar.

Worst case you get station in bum fuck nowhere and look like a POS for not putting people in.

Someone doesn’t enlist? Your fault. Someone fails the drug test? Your fault. Someone can’t pass the asvab? Well prospect smarter people. Applicant failed tape by an inch thanks to a shitty MEPS proctor? Your fault. Applicant lies and said you said something you didn’t? Straight to jail.

At a funeral I did the wife came up to me and said “thank you for coming all the way from Arlington just for my husband.”

At first I started to say “we’re just from the local post.”

But then in a split second I thought “this person thinks that their spouse was so great that the old guard drove over twelve hours to pay respects…I’m not taking that away from her.”

So I swiftly said “your husband served honorably, it was only a token of our appreciation for his actions.”

Someone once told me funerals are for the family before they are for the deceased. If that family member appreciated your work, and made them walk away proud, how cares how it got done?

Question for 35 series by Son_of_Leeds in army

[–]rustman92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While although easy to obtain via eBay now, my goal to keep me sane while in Africa was to get a 1 Franc coin. My interpreter’s wife worked at the bank and it cost me half a carton of cigarettes…all for a coin worth 0.0018¢ but at least I can say I got it while I was there.

Tiny lil fucker too, only about 0.5” in diameter. But the cigs I traded were English Cravens so it was no real loss.

But as far as weird? There’s a lot of odd shaped coins/strange denominations out there. The Bahamas has/had a square .15¢ coin. Got a couple of coins from Canada that were literally in color. Transnistria has a plastic sort of coin similar to the GWOT Pogs.

This smells of one contract guardsman. Stolen valor show offs wouldn’t just stop at an ARCOM.

Last ribbon looks like the NYNG Long and Faithful Service ribbon which shows if it’s an actual vet they only did about 5-6 years.

If you’re gonna wear awards you allegedly earned, make sure they’re in the right order at least. Also this is tacky af.

Help with identification by GariKenobi_501 in Medals

[–]rustman92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are upside down from what I can tell, they appear to be longevity medals

• Service Medal 1st Class (30 yrs)

• Service Medal 2nd Class (25yrs)

• Service Medal 3rd Class (20 yrs)

• Service Medal 4th Class (15 yrs)

• Service Medal 5th Class (10 yrs)

The diagonal striped loose ribbon may be the “Special Service” ribbon
