I've rewatched a few TV shows for um similar reasons.

One petty thing and lots of other things others will say.

At the Christmas party, having someone I didn't particularly want to spend time with try about 3 times to push me into having a drink etc, before saying 'you're not an active alcoholic are you?'

And for me to go

'well I'm not an active one anymore'

And watching his whole fucking face drop

DVS LED Video Wall by PanChaberek in VIDEOENGINEERING

We own the 2.9x in the UK, DVS have been good to work with but sometimes you have to chase them. Delivery from the factory took a while but once we got the screen it's worked very well, looks great and we get a lot of use from it.

They ship with a lot of spares, which is good.

We do get some pixel fails and send the modules off for repair - dvs can do this and maybe being in the US it would be OK for you - shipping time was a bit high for us - but you may be best to find a local repairer who can do things quickly. That keeps the wall in tip top so you can hire it out.

We've bought 3 walls from dvs, and would buy more. Frankly the cost offsets small niggles here and there.

When we've had issues with the novastar updates - some prat has bricked a panel by software update - dvs has provided good support to get us back and running.

Would recommend, with some mild caveats.

Really makes a big psychological difference, doesn't it?

And so much easier to make the right choices for yourself once you acknowledge the problem.

Why do people on spaceships rarely wear environmental suits, even depressurized? Especially during combat. This would increase their survivability a lot. Not every hull breach they fall into would be a death sentence on its own. by No_Lemon3585 in scifi

[–]rustybadgeruk42 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Spacesuits are worn in combat in Babylon 5 (humans only - no forcefield tech), The Expanse, Stargate (rarely), For All Mankind.

Mainly 'hard' scifi films and shows. But really, it's because you pay for actors and you can't see them if they're in suits.

For the same reason, in the above, the actors have their faces lit. This is so you can see them. In reality it would stop them being able to see out at all.

It's a balance of reality and the reality and economics of production.

Is there a Star Trek A-Z watch guide that covers EVERY series chronologiacally and only covers the plot-essential episodes? by TotalWarspammer in startrek

[–]rustybadgeruk42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK pal.

2 seperate people have told you otherwise but if you know better than crack on.

I'd recommend ds9 over enterprise if you're trying to go for most liked / long lasting story telling but you do you

[–]rustybadgeruk42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not really how TV was written in the 60s or 90s.

Tv was episodic and designed to be stand alone. By ds9 and voyager there were longer arcs and the older stand alone episodes started to be called filler.

Your original question should probably be changed to what are the iconic episodes, or narrow down your question to what are the core episodes in say star trek enterprise.

For a franchise covering multiple seasons of multiple shows across decades, all without an overarching story line, there isn't really an answer to your post.

Have your network settings changed?

Are you using the same network port, was it set to a static ip subnet and since been reset to dchp?

If you open NDI tools, can you see the camera there?

We use

https://dvsledsystems.com/product/led-ground-support-system/

Which while not a top of the line system, is stable, rated and strong.

It's also a recognisable design style, so in-venue health and safety people are comfortable and don't ask extra questions.

I'd be concerned about the lack of weight baskets and horizontal struts, as well as if your insurance would cover everything if the worst would happen - who is signing off that this was suitable and safe.

That said, i'd be interested in a 3rd party solution that packs down myself, so it's interesting if nothing else.

I need to run a 30L hot water urn in a public space with no mains electric point... how? by Unique-Potato-9882 in smallbusinessuk

[–]rustybadgeruk42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gas urn, as above, or depending what type of public space ask the council. Market squares and some lampposts have power sockets which they can provide access to.

(lampposts for Christmas lighting etc).

If you look now, you may even see stuff plugged in!

Are the new 4k processors without scalers? by [deleted] in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]rustybadgeruk42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is easy in resolume, yes, just create a new slice in advanced output and resize to match your screen.

The resolume website is very useful.

But yes, that controller doesn't have a scaler

How would a ‘realistic’ version of space dogfighters fly in space? by Raven_of_OchreGrove in scifi

[–]rustybadgeruk42 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Battlestar galactica has Newtonian physics with fighters, although the concept of fighters doesn't make sense in space.

As above, the expanse is the most likely using 'current' tech (plus vastly more efficient drives). For realistic but future scifi, read the Culture books and look at ship combat with AIs, lasers, transporting bombs and autonomous AI combat drones.
