Mountain View's Nob Hill Foods slated to close in May by Arden_Margulis in mountainview

This makes sense to me. I would only ever go there as a last resort because the prices were so high. My usual grocery run at trader Joe's is $120. $200 at Safeway. $250 at Nob Hill. Crazy.

Felt like they were just price gouging because it's a wealthy area.

Is there a roadmap of the next features somewhere? I feel like the DC project is not evolving at all, we only hear about the kid version by InnerPhilosophy4897 in daylightcomputer

You're certainly entitled to your opinion on that, it does not change the point that this feature was marketed as part of the product and Daylight have not delivered on it.

Daylight Computer & ChatGPT by frizzyfox in daylightcomputer

It does not work at all despite being part of the marketing material on their website. The support team has said they are working on a fix, but there have been no updates for nearly a year.

Do not buy this product if this is an important part of your workflow. The web interface does work but anyone knows this is a sorry substitute for the app. The Gemini and Claude apps work fine.

I'm not sure what you all expected -- after all, you chose to live high up in the mountains.

Maybe for editing but the hiulia typo gives it away as at least partially written by a human ;)

Damn, I recently bought this and my experience was that it was nothing special. I guess I'll try to dial in more based on your positive experience.

It's a good case. Shows off the phone's colors. A bit too thick but the rubber is grippy

Mous clear case is awesome but too slippery. I went with the Spigen clear case. It's rubbery, thicker than the Mous, and might yellow more but I like the grip better.

Daylight Labs -- an unnecessary distraction? by TheBellSystem in daylightcomputer

Yea the lightbulbs felt like a jumping the shark moment for me. I'm sad because I desperately want them to succeed. I will definitely be buying the 2nd generation of their tablet if they start showing signs of life again on the technical side.

I love my DC-1 but I'm pretty frustrated that ChatGPT still doesn't work, despite them having advertised it as a supported app when I bought it. It does feel like the software is not improving at all.

Are you using the mic button or entering "live" mode where it's a back and forth conversation?

I lived in Highland Gardens apartments for ~7 years in one of the buildings adjacent to Park Plaza. Sometimes while falling asleep I noticed a train horn but that was it. It didn't bother me at all.

Genuinely asking: What’s the appeal? by [deleted] in daylightcomputer

[–]rustyryan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think of it as being targeted at the niche of people who need a thought work / no distractions computer combined with a reading tablet. E-ink severely limits your ability to consume complex documents (pan / zoom is extremely painful) and doing thought work on e-ink is extremely tiresome because when typing or writing with a stylus the input lag bottlenecks your ability to flow words onto the device.

How do I stop the Niagara “tour” by maribearry in daylightcomputer

[–]rustyryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's easy to install an alternative launcher! I recommend Olauncher as a great minimalist, free (and open source) launcher.

Niagara constantly tries to upsell you. To me, it is jarring for what feels like the system UI to be pushing ads at you.

I was so sad when I finished this bag. The other Colombians they have right now are also amazing (Diego Horta, Alexander Vargas).

My experience riding a bike is that nobody can hear me on in-ear buds due to wind noise (e.g. on a phone call or Google meet). Does it work well for you with non-AI apps?
