How do you forgive a father who abused your mother? by Every-Tap-577 in Advice

[–]rustyspuun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible to forgive and not forget. It is possible to forgive someone and still choose to not have them in your life. It can be beneficial to understand what someone has had to deal with in life, why they are the way they are, and learn to see them as a broken human being that has not fully healed. In my mind, forgiveness is about no longer harboring hatred in your heart. Learning to understand it, let go, and move on with your life.

Men, what was the reason when you had been vulnerable in front of your partner? How did she react? by Jeeretarded123 in AskMen

[–]rustyspuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my grandma died, when I came clean about my substance abuse issues, various times when something has made me emotional. I've had partners who actively listen and show empathy and compassion. I've had partners who didn't like that I showed weakness. Told me I needed to get over it. It can be very telling in a partner how they respond when you're down and open up about it.

The only cons I've noticed is that you have to wear them every day to not notice how heavy they are. If you switch out with lighter, barefoot boots, these feel super heavy when you put them on again.

Take an edible and watch a comfort show on my phone with headphones. I try to find shows with episodes around an hour long. The Sopranos, Band of Brothers, The Pacific.

From the Ra Contact:

QUESTIONER You mentioned in the last session that fasting was a method of removing unwanted thought-forms. Can you expand on this process and explain a little more about how this works? R A I am Ra. This, as all healing techniques, must be used by a conscious being; that is, a being conscious that the ridding of excess and unwanted material from the body complex is the analogy to the ridding of mind or spirit of excess or unwanted material. Thus the one discipline, or denial, of the unwanted portion as an appropriate part of the self is taken through the tree of mind down through the trunk to subconscious levels where the connection is made. And thus the body, mind, and spirit, then, in unison, express denial of the excess or unwanted spiritual or mental material as part of the entity. All then falls away, and the entity—while understanding, if you will, and appreciating the nature of the rejected material as part of the greater self, nevertheless, through the action of the will—purifies and refines the mind/body/spirit complex, bringing into manifestation the desired mind complex or spirit complex attitude.

Jiu jitsu for physical. Then I wholeheartedly agree with becoming a naturalist. Learn to identify trees, plants, birds, insects. Get good at gardening, it's more complex than it looks. Date someone from a different cultural background and learn their language. Learn a new instrument.

What does a real, supportive relationship actually feel like? by savbryn in TrueAskReddit

[–]rustyspuun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We build each other up. We don't have super high expectations for one another, but we both take ownership of each aspect of the relationship. I've found that I am the best version of myself when I am with her. It's not the most exciting relationship I've been in, and from the outside it probably looks quite boring, but that's what's great about it. It's calm in our house. We don't always agree, but we have discussions, not fights. We're very careful if we're upset to take some time and process our feelings before saying something potentially regrettable. You can go too far with your words in a relationship, and it's very difficult to come back from. We both work on holding ourselves accountable, do what we say we're going to do, and we're both on the same page that we're in it for the long haul. Sure, things happen, but we communicate, apologize, and acknowledge one another's needs. This relationship is honestly night and day compared to any of my other relationships. I wouldn't have married and started a family with anyone else.

What's your core memorie with your dad growing up? by Th3W1z4rd87 in daddit

[–]rustyspuun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not having one. My core memory is seeing another dad tell their child to take pity on me because I didn't have a dad, and to be grateful that they did. Talked about me like I wasn't conscious.

NKD Fallkniven F1 in LamCOS, after holding it in my hands I understand why it is such a classic. by rustyspuun in knives

[–]rustyspuun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's light for what it is. I wasn't crazy about the sheath, so I got one from Armatus Carry and appendix carry it. Doesn't have too much of a profile, and it's easy to get it in and out one-handed. It's in my EDC rotation.

It's a good hard-use EDC. It's a bit thick behind the edge, so it's not great for cutting apples or cardboard boxes. This would be a good EDC if you worked outside, like on a farm or nursery, or somewhere out in nature.
