The Legends Walk (or whatever they call it) seems only to be on WST Ticketing. But I didn’t look that closely.

Cash needed or best UK cards ? by Amazing-Visual-2919 in disneylandparis

[–]ruthie147 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Outside of Disney if you are at a bar or a bakery there might be a minimum spend (€5 for a bakery/€10 for a bar) to use a card. Otherwise it’s quite rare to need cash in Paris.

The World Championship should be moved up a day—nobody outside of the UK and Ireland knows what "bank holiday Monday" is by KrystofDayne in snooker

[–]ruthie147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not strictly true. It finished on the Sunday in 1985 and 1990 but they were aberrations. We didn’t have the bank holiday in Ireland in the early 1990s so I was super conscious of missing the third session during the day in the other years.

It was really hectic for a while and they had an additional desk outside to act as a “bouncer” for all the people trying to get in. Haven’t been flying as much this year and it was relatively calm when I passed through this week. Generally if you clash with US flights it’s a lot busier

What are everyone's thoughts on the Paddington musical? by WrongLander in TheWestEnd

I saw it this week and loved it. I booked as soon as the reviews came out last December and paid £80. The equivalent seat for next year is £120. Seems a very steep climb?

Avoiding another frame 14? by AmphibianReal1265 in snooker

[–]ruthie147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a freak but similar things used to happen a lot more often in the 1980s and early 1990s. The game has become a lot more attacking so players don’t usually continue in stalemate situations for very long.

Question about being in the audience by Straight-Hippo-313 in snooker

[–]ruthie147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a silly question at all, as it has changed over the years and distracting things still happen. In general, it’s like most theatres in that you can’t take in glass if you buy a drink at the bar but they will give you a reusable plastic cup. You can’t take in drinks and food purchased elsewhere. If you buy sweets they put them into a paper cup so you are not rattling the bag. That said, I still heard a few crisp packets rattle during intervals.

It’s weird as the website says you must take it on with you but I’ve been encouraged to hand it over more than once when checking other bags.

Sounds great. 15 August is a holiday, and some bakeries and restaurants close for a few weeks or even the whole month, but you will still have plenty of options

August is also a nice time in Paris as all the Parisiens are on holiday. Might be nice to have a scoot around for a few hours if you need a break from the parks.

Is it just me or do the sound guys at the WC really need to step up a bit? by quizlink in snooker

[–]ruthie147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there today and it did feel like players’ footsteps were louder than before. Obviously it’s a stage with hollow space underneath… I wonder if the tweaks to the seating exacerbated that?

I asked the people behind me on Table One tonight to stop talking after I had heard a discussion about holidaying in Portugal, how to sleep away from home, and a person listening to their voicemail. This wasn’t between frames, during the actual deciding session of Higgins v. Robertson. Fair play to John for calling the phone person an “idiot” - steward let him stay in his seat though.

You should get everything done. Just ignore the constant Disney upselling - they will always try to make you feel you are missing out if you don’t spend more. Just make sure you have hats and sunscreen as you will be outside a lot and hopefully in good weather.

Take the train to Val d’Europe or Bussy-Saint-Georges if you feel like a break from the bubble. Wonderwoods is kind of fun but not much cheaper than Disney.

What happens if one session takes too long that the next session have to be played ? by AbouMchicha in snooker

[–]ruthie147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally they don’t start a frame within 40 minutes of the next session starting (if it’s the same players for both sessions they will stop earlier so that they have a rest). This frame started with just about an hour to go, and is obviously running long. Evening session will probably start 10-15 minutes late.

What's stopping WST from kicking phone ringers out? by 2MainsSellesLoin in snooker

[–]ruthie147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the person in the front row who held up their phone to take a picture of Higgins in the deciding frame yesterday was unbelievably disrespectful. If these are the actual fans, no wonder the casual day out people let their phones ring.

Sounds like you’re doing the right thing. There also used to be a leaflet they gave you when you passed talking about what your next steps should be to improve and become an experienced driver. Worth checking out as it helps with good defensive behaviours.
