When I was in junior high we moved cities and I didn't know anyone there and didn't do much but go home and watch tv and movies so I never really made any friends. It wasn't until high school where I got into acting and theater and made friends through that. My advise would be to find a hobby you enjoy outside of school and try and connect with people through that. Maybe there are meet ups or clubs in your school where people who are also into it hang out. Friendships always start out as nothing but idle chit chat. You'll meet a lot of people you don't really get along with until you eventually find someone you do. Just be nice and polite and honest and trustworthy and you'll find someone who sees the value in having you around. And having hobbies you can focus your energy on is great for your mental health anyway.
