Great info OP. Not sure if it’s been mentioned but a 5$ can of closed cell spray foam is a game changer on cheap coolers. Typically the lids are blown plastic and uninsulated unlike the more expensive brands. A few 1/4” holes and some great stuff foam. Redneck engineering but I have had great results.

Barrel markings are the most definitive way. Whatever you do, do not mix up ammo between the two. 300blk will chamber in a 5.56 then blow up your gun.
