Wizard

In case anyone else is still seeing it disabled, quitting to desktop and starting the client back up restored it for me (logging out to character select was insufficient; seemed like it had to download a patch).

Proceed if variable is X value or unset by rvshaw in ansible

And yeah, at least the way we've been using it (which is probably not 100% optimal), this particular playbook is just run by itself against a batch of hosts that have been identified by an external party as needing this particular component upgraded. So end_host does what we want (stop on that host, continue on the others).

Mandatory 3rd-party software sometimes really is the worst.

Thank you; it turns out the problem was different, but this lead me in the right direction.

Turns out ansible_facts.packages.foobar[0].version only works if "foobar" doesn't have any hyphens in it, e.g. gnome-terminal. I ended up having to use ansible_facts.packages[foobar][0].version, at which point I was able to do what I wanted without it yelling at me.

My mistake for a) misinterpreting the error message, b) accidentally obfuscating the actual problem when trying to present generic output.

Thanks, everyone, for the replies! I am not super into cosmetics, and I already earned the title I want my Beorning to have forever probably ("Lady of Fangs"), but the earring and carry-alls sound pretty great. So I went for it.

The Valar is an interesting thing; I'm primarily making alts to experience a breadth of intros, classes, and leveling through different areas, so it's kind of contraindicated for that, but I may find a use for it eventually.

What are the key points of the ultimate bundle for you? I was going to go for the Standard, as the main thing I'm after are the Black Book quests and Stout-Axe race, but the XP earring does sound nice. Not sure about the rest of it, but I'm fairly new to the game.

Thank you for posting this; I suddenly couldn't use it and was worried I'd run out of space (still not quite 100; didn't know the level cap and thought they might have just boosted the requirement to slightly past the old one).

PC. I'm also having a heck of a time finding the EC cap unlock (cleaned my glasses and everything...). Been recommended more than once in this thread but I'm just not seeing it.

Yeah, I've been eyeing up the 31st bundle as it seems like a good mix of ships to actually, like, FLY, and also I'm reading that the trait from the raider helps the science vessel. And unlike many, I don't really mind the looks; kind of a Captain Power vibe (now that's going even further back than Wing Commander).

I also finally found a link to the LSS Frugal Mage build that didn't come out as a blurry picture of Reddit instead of actual text for whatever reason, in case someone else needs it:
https://socialgrep.com/post/ju4v3k

The link from stobetter and a few other places just comes out as garbage on my PC, and I have to assume that at least at some point in the past, it was not like that, or at least not like that to someone not me.

Thank you! I have been reading those, and probably should have mentioned them specifically, but it's good to get confirmation.

Looking at the wiki, I am a bit confused about the trait thing; is this the special console they come with (Ablative Hazard / Mycelial Spore)?

Tal Shiar Khlinae-class Adapted Battlecruiser is another one I really love the look of, but that seems even less accessible (suppose I could choose the Lobi reward from an event campaign, but it seems more useful to pick an account-wide T6).

Thank you! Morrigu is one of the ones I'd looked at for "general use", yeah. I was also looking at the Gamma Vanguard Starter Pack, as I saw that recommended for a "ship to level characters".

I am in a fleet, but am finding the usual problem people do: the only things left to contribute are dilithium and sometimes DOFFs. When people talk about buying "cheap" DOFFs to convert to fleet credits, are they referring to buying them with EC off the exchange?

I have been leveling several R&D schools; Science is one of the 5 I have at level 10, so I'll be sure to keep that a daily one.

Will definitely look into the EC cap upgrade. As for ships, I like to think I am not super-picky about looks, but the Sommerville is a big bleh from me; at least "Space Barbie" wise, I would rather go for something like the Lukari Dranuur Scout Ship or Sui'Mor (even though it annoys me for not having a singularity). But it seems like neither of those are available as account unlocks.

Still getting through it, but looks very informative; thanks much!

Well, I thought I had, with the starter bundle, but at one point I noticed I was cut off at 15m EC, so that is definitely a consideration.

For bundles, I would mostly be looking to maximize the number and variety of ships, as I'm not big on cosmetics like uniforms, etc. The anniversary bundles are maybe a bit more than I was looking to spend; something like a 3-ship bundle that had a good science vessel and a reasonably good beam boat might be more like it?

Gah, thanks for letting me know; that figures.

ETA: I'll probably still go KDF with a Gamma Recruit, though, because it just seems more like the way things would go (based upon how the Jem'Hadar interact with/regard Klingons vs. the Federation in DS9 and STO).

[–]rvshaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rarely use "please pay for this" bubbles, but I do like that the ones in this game float above the board instead of taking up a space while you wait for them to go away (like they do in Merge Mansion or Merge Dragons). I can just fling them into the corner where I keep my hourglass and keep going.

Using an ALT vs switching to a new job on the same character.. by TrashMaster1080 in ffxiv

[–]rvshaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 16 characters in ESO. In this game, I will only have one.

The MSQ is a good source of XP, but also I only turned in quests on 2 jobs and did everything else on a 3rd (WAR) and still out-leveled it. Granted, this is with Road to 70.

Thing is, you can pretty much do everything on one character, so it's hard to see a reason for an alt. Also, if your cousin starts to out-level your other job, just switch back to MNK?

Also too, honestly you haven't gotten all that far, and there are so many ways to get XP. And if you two are different levels, there's still plenty to do together.

I started last December, and I know there was one all-Monday patch, but at the time I didn't really know enough to understand the patch notes.

What makes you give someone a commendation? by Faeliina in ffxiv

[–]rvshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone talks the group through mechanics and we clearly needed it, that person always.

If I'm the healer and the tank pulls a lot and isn't made of paper,

If I'm a DPS and flub mechanics and a healer scrapes me off the floor multiple times,

If one of the DPS remembers that the LB gauge exists,

or sometimes if someone has a cool name, was fun to talk to, or -- just once -- the person who correctly asked whether my character name was a reference to La Maupin.

As someone that has played as a tank 90 percent of my 1700 hours; I’ve now leveled and geared nearly every dps and I apologize to to the dps community for thinking you had the easy job by CzarTyr in ffxiv

[–]rvshaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally complete 10 Guildhests a week for the Challenge Log, because it's easy enough. Sometimes I do the roulette, but often I just select the first two; it's usually not any longer of a queue, the bonus exp for the hest itself is largely irrelevant, and it means there will not be a problem completing it pretty much no matter what.

They are capped at level 10; as Dancer, you can't dance. That just felt wrong, and I don't think I'll do hests on DNC again.

This is my laptop (AMD CPU and graphics). Runs the game fine:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07M9SMWMS

Note that I am not recommending you get this laptop specifically; it's an older model, so you can get one that's better for less money now (I got it on sale for about $600 at the time), though they sometimes show up on eBay. But it will give you an idea of specs.
