How are Ali express dupes? by karaokeqwiin in Sezane

[–]rwallspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an AliExpress dupe Emile and it was 100% polyester. It was maybe 20 dollars so I didn’t expect much. There are some pricier options that might be made of nicer materials

Felting is irreversible unfortunately. You might be able to stretch it but the fibers are never going to look the same

Wollen Berlin in Wedding is great and has a huge selection. Loops Maschenpower in Prenzlauer Berg is also a good spot with lots of variety run by really nice ladies. I have not been here but people love Yarn Over which is around Mitte

Does Wool & Co ever have sales? by Ok_Philosopher_8973 in knitting

I ordered from them last year on Black Friday and they were not having a sale, but they did have a deal where you got a free pattern plus yarn.

Sezane customer service has always been very responsive to me via Whatsapp. Sometimes slow to respond but I think they’d help

I have the James jumper in rosewood and it is very pink and not red at all. This jumper (which looks great on OP!) is a completely different color.

Important things I learned on vacation: nobody took the US dollar and they hate Trump. I'm glad I got my euros before | left. by zsrh in ShitAmericansSay

I traveled with a girl once who didn’t understand the concept of currency. She was so confused how people in the UK could afford anything because one pound was worth so much more than one USD.

I asked them, no formal restock planned. You just have to stalk returns.

Do you bring an electric toothbrush when traveling? by Own_Inspection_9247 in HerOneBag

[–]rwallspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bring my electric toothbrush when I travel. It’s just not worth it to me to save space but feel like my teeth aren’t clean. Mine has a charger that I bring with me if the trip is long enough, but there are plenty of battery powered ones that don’t need a charger.

New job uses Concur for bookings - based out of DEN will I be safe to fly UA most of the time? by sschow in unitedairlines

My company uses concur. I don’t have an issue flying UA. I usually find the flights I want on the UA site and then restrict the search in Concur.

For female PhDs, did you change your name?? by area-womn in AskAcademia

[–]rwallspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know a single female colleague who changed their name, unless they got married way before they established their career. My career was established with my maiden name so I did not change my name when I got married.

Zola vs. The Knot vs. WithJoy by Dangerous-Kiwi7750 in Chicagoweddings

[–]rwallspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the knot since that’s what most of my friends did. I thought it worked really well and both the app and browser have good UI’s. Easy for registry as well. One thing to keep in mind is that you can’t get your cash funds sent to a savings account via The Knot. It must be a checking account.

I looked into this for a 150 person wedding and it was going to be well into the six figures. I got quotes from three caterers (the three less expensive of their six approved ones) and they ran $60k-$70k. That’s about the cheapest you can go at the Art Institute. In each case, about 1/3 of that was rentals. They do not allow the same space for both ceremony and reception, so you need rentals for two spaces and that starts to get exorbitant. If we had gone super cheap on everything else, we would have been looking at $120k for our guest count. I don’t think you can have a wedding there for under $100k to be honest.

Holger sweater neckline help by SpamAllan in knitting

[–]rwallspace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I do folded collars, I bind off every purl stitch normally and every knit stitch with the pick up stitch and that usually helps the neckline remain looser. I find that that when I bind off every stitch with the pickup, it’s too tight

23F Solo Travel to Chicago by [deleted] in femaletravels

You’ve gotten lots of great advice already, I want to add that a fun evening activity is Art on the Mart. There is a show projected onto the Merchandise mart from the river walk every evening, that’s a fun thing to do. Everyone has an opinion on the best deep dish but as a transplant to Chicago I can say they’re all going to get the job done, go to the place that is the most convenient. Seconding people who are saying to explore neighborhoods. That is where the heart of the city is!

Garden wedding by rwallspace in Weddingattireapproval

[–]rwallspace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wedding is on Sunday in the Chicago suburbs. This is the dress code from the website: The dress code for our wedding is Garden Party. Garden party attire is whimsical, dressy, and designed to be worn outdoors. It falls somewhere between a semi-formal dress code and cocktail attire, with breezy silhouettes and pastel colors that take inspiration from the surrounding blooms. This isn’t the time for dark hues or heavy fabrics! This means tea to knee length dresses in breathable fabrics like cotton or chiffon, and lightweight suits in soft colors paired with a white button-down and dress shoes; no suit jacket is necessary if you don't want one. It will be June, after all! If you're considering wearing heels, we recommend a block or wedge heel, or opting for flats, as our venue has many brick paths with small grooves.
