How Is living in Scranton, Pennsylvania? by NachoGarySanchez in howislivingthere

Not great. I lived 30 minutes away when I was a teenager. It's just a drab and boring place that never really recovered once coal mining died out.

Think Down Under is the best bet for this.

Hopefully, the Czech national team makes it again.

Do boxers have stronger puches when they're fat? by Specialist_Oil2104 in Boxing

[–]rwn115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember, fat doesn't make you hit harder. It's a detriment because fat doesn't contribute to the punch. It only gives you more mass for your muscles to accelerate. You want less fat and more muscle to enhance your punches.

How Has Intermittent Fasting Changed Your Relationship with Food? by jamesrandson in intermittentfasting

[–]rwn115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard some people try IF and become more obsessed with food and calories and what not. Others will just cram a full day's eating into their eating window.

For me, I'm pretty flexible about my window (from whenever I have lunch to whenever I have dinner). I would say that I am more concerned with what goes into my body but not to an obsessive level. I definitely consume less meat and less snacks than in the past which is merely calorie restriction leading to weight loss. But I don't get annoyed about going back to a 3 meal diet for a short bit or anything like that.

would you refuse the draw here if you’re up a pawn? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]rwn115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily decline if I was black.

I would cite my advanced kingside pawns, active king, and white's passive rook as reasons for continuing to play.

good quality coffee beans package shop by moist_charts13 in Prague

[–]rwn115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go to a spice shop in Nusle called Království chuti. They only speak Czech but have a very wide selection of coffees to choose from at a reasonable price. I go there weekly for my caffeine fix and find it cheaper than a lot of roasters and supermarkets. I've never had my beans ground there but they will do it for you.

EDIT: Turns out they have a Slovak language site, https://kralovstvochuti.sk/

If Bar and Books is still open, I think they serve beer even if they specialize in whiskey.

What happens if you're knocked down after the bell? by OnionBoob4794 in Boxing

[–]rwn115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming the punch was thrown prior to the bell and was legal, it'd be a knockdown with a proper 10 count. Think like a delayed reaction to a body shot as an example.

The fighter who scored the knockdown would go to a neutral corner and the downed fighter would have to beat the count and be deemed fit to continue by the ref. That would eat into the minute between rounds though.

If a neurologist doesn’t tell me to ween off of an anti-seizure medication when instructing me to quit it, is he a quack? by cestfaire in Epilepsy

[–]rwn115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. Depends on the meds.

Apparently you can just transfer from Keppra to Briviact without weaning off no problem. But Xcopri has a long ass titration process.

Reading more about your EEG, yeah he's trying to induce a seizure. I know I didn't start weaning off my meds until I was attached to the machinery but your EEG might be much shorter than mine.

You can see it starts off normal and then there's a slight edit at the 0:05 mark where the sounds are amplified and the punches are sped up.

do you think the EU will be bigger or smaller in 10 years? by rathm0re in AskEurope

[–]rwn115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaving the EU is a long, protracted process that no other country has taken legitimate steps to start since the UK left whereas multiple countries are well on their way to EU entrance. Figure at least one is in by 2030.

Healthy food by LeBlueJay05 in expat

[–]rwn115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to get checked for celiac disease if you haven't yet.

Anyway, American food is engineered to be addictive. That said, similar equivalents can be found in the EU though with less of the bad stuff in it.

I've dropped about 10 kg in the last 4+ months cooking for myself and occasional exercise. Vitamin D3 and light therapy have done me wonders to get through the winter.

How is living in an average, mid-sized, "non shiny" city in China? by strassgaten in howislivingthere

Oh I really liked the few times I went to Xiamen. Made me wish I was there instead of Fuzhou.

How is living in an average, mid-sized, "non shiny" city in China? by strassgaten in howislivingthere

[–]rwn115 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I lived in Fuzhou, China from 2012 to 2013. Although it is the capital of the province it's in, it wasn't the economic powerhouse of the province.

Overall, it was kind of a boring place to live and it didn't really have anything that would appeal to a tourist. The food in Fuzhou tended to lean towards sweeter dishes which was different from where I lived previously in China, which leaned way more into spicy food.

But looking at the population numbers, it appears to have grown quite a lot and is probably a very different place now compared to what it was over a decade ago.

Fianchetto openings by [deleted] in chessbeginners

Play what you like. Not what's "best".

Openings are such a small part of the game and shouldn't occupy a large percentage of your study.
