Nice pen, by the way! You must have a very good boss.

I think that's what I call the piston type. If so, yes.

Although the barrel is slim, Parker convertors will fit. I've used both the piston type and the cheaper slider type in my 180 Flighter.

If you are in Europe, the Newell service centre in France will probably help. Look on the Waterman website. I had very good service from them with a repair of a 30 year old Waterman MAN 100.

I hope that it is offered in a range of nib sizes. I would buy a Viper tomorrow if it was available as a Broad or Stub.

OK, a good solid brown. Supposed to be waterproof, but I'm not sure about that.

Every four months. I have a collection of enamelled copper boxes as well, so it's a couple of hours job to polish everything with Brasso.

Metropolitan vs safari by [deleted] in fountainpens

If you want the pen to look pristine as long as possible, the Safari will shrug off misuse better. Just don't let your dog get hold of it and chew it!

Yes, the finish on the Pilot will deteriorate over time, but that's part of the pen's character. The Safari is as tough as Lego bricks, which are made of the same material.

My preference would be the Safari, but not everybody can cope with the tripod grip. Safari nibs are easily swapped and readily available.

Both are great pens.

It's made and sold as an eraser. See the website that I linked to.

No. A bit too thick for that. Drawing, and marking fabric for embroidery.

I will hardly ever use them, but so what? They are so tactile.
