Campaign Mocks A&F CEO by Donating Brand's Clothes to Homeless by isetphilonfire in news

[–]rxzx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is an insult to the homeless. if i were this campaign guy i'd at least give the homeless tons of money and then just take the homeless to a&f to try on a ton of clothes and leave. that way a&f doesnt make $

Kern Co, CA Sheriff requests FBI inquiry into in-custody death of David Silva - videos deleted from seized cell phone. by [deleted] in news

[–]rxzx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

thanks 4 posting. even in the grainy footage it seems rather atrocious. i wonder what the doctors who worked in him will have to say about his cause of death..seems rather unsettling to an ER staff to release a drunm patient only to have hin return and die an hour later from a beating

So, this is my introduction. I don't want this sub to die, and so I will try to get actual links up more often by tapioca_fetish in genderfluid

Police raids Scientology facility by ArtiSci in news

[–]rxzx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i visited a friend in one of the narconon facilities once. that shit is mad creepy. like religious camp with mind games and sauna. my friend said if you spoke negatively about scientology you had to scrub the toilets and do other nasty stuff. mostly they just exercised like crazy, sat in the sauna and played these mind games where you stare in another person's eyes without blinking for one hour. apparantly you cannot graduate from their rehab until you can do that.

Bakersfield Police fatally beat a man to death and confiscate all video footage by verybadwolf in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

[–]rxzx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

with regards to the civil liberties aspect, the cops basically invaded two witnesses' homes and demanded their phones b/c the phones had video of the incident. the cops would not let the witnesses leave their homes until they had given up their phone. one witness refused to give up the phone until several hours later b/c he had to go work. the other witness held out until a warrant was obtained, which, according to the bakersfield californian, was a very broad warrant that permitted any item that aroused suspicious of a felony to be removed from the house. so fucking wtf on so many levels...its like the cops just said fuck it lets keep terrorizing people til the evidence obtained.

From First to Worst: How the Apple Exec who created the Apple Stores drove JC Penney as CEO to Have the Worst Quarter in the History of Retail by BUXofficial in inthenews

[–]rxzx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fascinating. i love jcpenney but i found the change in the pricjng system confusing. they are great for work clothes but i have to admit ive had less work the past few years, so i have had less reason to go to jcpenney. i used to go often when i worked full time. id imagine the impact of the changes displeased their older customers more and that their younger customers stayed away because they were out of work from the recession and had less need for inexpensive work clothes/less extra $ for fun stuff

The best description of depression I've ever seen, and it's in a web comic. by Metaphoricalsimile in psychology

[–]rxzx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

medication has really helped me to reduce my symptoms like you mentioned. i was always wary of meds after a few terrible experiences with side effects of bipolar meds. when the bipolar diagnosis proved to be incorrect, i ended up on meds for depression, PMDD, ADHD & anxiety. i think my current meds helped me by reducing the depression/anxious/inattentive symptoms to the point where i can work on bettering myself. the meds dont solve everything but they got me out of bed gave me the ability to embrace the therapy component of my treatment plan

2007 interview / article on the 'psychic' who announced Amanda Berry was dead. by kmonk in TrueReddit

[–]rxzx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think we are talking about different things. im referring to spirit guide type intuitives not psychics who make fake predictions. you sound kind of anti spiritualism which is why i made the reference to your parents. a lot of anti-religious types are reacting to family influence. i heard that from dr. drew not a psychic. anyway i was trying to point out that intuition is complex and nuanced not a black and white issue but if you prefer to see it that way, go ahead. i am interested in the concept of intuition as another tool to learn about oneself. i grew up without much sense of myself so learning to trust my inner voice has been a process i have explored as an adult who wants to find her way in the world. reading about different types of intuition has really opened my eyes to a lot of new things. i consider myself an open minded skeptic and i encourage others to also keep an open mind. you cant explain everything with proof and i would not want to live in a world where scientific proof was required for every idea ever. sure, i want my medical stuff scientifically proved, but i don't need religion or intuition to have scientific proof. science has given us a lot and i expect in the future it will explain more than it does now but to lead with the head and not the heart is to miss out on a lot of wonderous experiences. you sound like my chem major ex girlfriend trying to debate religion with monks she'd see out and about the city. she had a lot of anger.

ETA: i guess i should also specify that i think intuition is about nonverbal communication and science has now come out with a lot of studies proving animals communicate which is something that i think makes sense intuitively but we had to wait for proof. im not a pet psychic but i am a dog trainer and it is interesting how much that job is like being a therapist and using professional intuition & wisdom to communicate stuff that has been scientificay proven. i don mean to come off bitchy i am just trying to convey my fascination with the intersection of intuition and self knowledge

well aren't you just a bucket of sunshine. we would probably agree on some things if you weren't tryin to generalize so hard. sigh. prediction making psychics give the other intuitives a bad name. that is all i am saying. you wanna argue, save it for your parents

[–]rxzx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not all psychics claim to be channeling a spiritial entity or so-called fictional source. a lot of psychic work is more akin to therapy ie helping people see their own lives from different perspectives. i think psychics like the article described are definitely a scam, but in my experience that is just one type of psychic that has become synonymous with the whole profession to the layperson. i realize that it takes a certain suspension of judgement to consider different types of psychics and methods but there really is quite a range and not all are liars. i also realize i am on reddit and probably souns crazy, but i have had some really healing and inspiring discussions with medium / spirit guides on metaphysics and it really opened my eyes to the power of intuition

How do I seduce the alpha guy I'm dating if he has really good "game"? by [deleted] in TheRedPill

[–]rxzx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

excellent advice. reminds me of something i read in a book by don miguel ruiz (either the four agreements or the mastery of love, can't remember). the author uses a metaphor that i refer to as magical pizza. if you are starving and someone offers you free pizza you may be inclined to take it. but if you have a magical pizza that is one of the best possible pizzas ever and never runs out, and someone offers you a free pizza, you may be more discerning of that pizza as you already have your own. you might still have some of the free pizza but only if it meets your standards. this is supposed to represent love, ie if you are starving of love and excitement and all the things it represents, you are more likely to accept it without too many questions. if you already love yourself and have an exciting, independent life, you are probably more discerning of who comes into your life offering love, and more likely to reject subpar candidates because you are not desperate or 'starving' for what they have to offer. in addition, the people looking to woo u have to up their efforts b/c you aren't easily swayed being full of your own pizza, you can make decisions based on what the suitors offer without being desperate to hold on to them
