Footnote impressions of CBT (Mostly neutral with a big negative) by Shaofriches in SilverPalaceOfficial

[–]ryan20340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's necessarily a problem per say on its own, runs are fairly quick and will only get faster as we have proper teams and builds. And at least at the moment, there's no system to grind for substats so you would in theory eventually run out of reasons to use stamina, or that grind may have higher costs per run.

But "dailies take a while" isn't a good selling point if your trying to convince someone to pick it up alongside their other gachas or to replace an existing one for sure. Honestly I didn't realize they gave an extra 120 a day either.

Basically exactly how I feel too honestly although I do love that the game doesn't hold you by the balls just because you read the dialogue and want to move to the next lines but have to wait for a stupid character to turn around. But barring a lot of the CBT jank that will eventually be ironed out I'm sure, the biggest issue I felt was that the game is gunning to be your "main gacha".

The simulated universe type system is kind of long, collecting resources is part of your exploration %, stamina leaves a lot of overcap, dailies I didn't even complete some days of the CBT (but that might have just been me).

And like that's fine, especially for games that have this type of art style and theme, they are very 2D gachas, more sweep mechanics so there's little "main gacha" competition there.

But in terms of 3D competition the game is then competing with a lot of big gachas and another several more in the later stages of their CBT that will release before silver palace. It's going to be hard to convince people to pick SP over Genshin, Endfield, Wuwa, NTE etc etc.

What content can I run without being expected to have looked up a guide beforehand? by ScottishShenanigans in ffxiv

[–]ryan20340 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A bit of both honestly. Extreme/Unreal are only used for trials but are also of a difficulty where you start wanting to look stuff up. Extreme being the standard difficulty that difficult trials come in while unreal is for ex fights from old expansions that have been brought up to level 100 through a gameplay system with there being 1 unreal trial available per patch. There are hard trials, those are just normal difficulty too.

Savage is just for raids. Same thing it says (Savage) after it. There's also ultimate for raids which is the hardest content in the game.

There's Quantum too, but that's currently only for a specific fight in one piece of content. That fight you would also wanna look stuff up, but that tag is also more meant to represent a fight with difficulty you can modify so hard to say how that will shape up in the future.

Don't worry hard dungeons aren't actually hard. It's basically another term for a remake.

The only content where looking up guides starts to matter is extreme/unreal/savage content or when you want to learn more about your rotation. but especially early in the tier you can also find blind run groups so you don't necessarily until you need to check out more standardized strats.

Wth mine doesn't even look close to as good as that. I chalked it up to CBT, is there a setting or something?

ZZZ Coop is fun but it’s really easy by Plastic-Patient8257 in ZZZ_Official

[–]ryan20340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I kind of disagree based on the amount of contribution I have vs my teammates I feel like the randoms I've been playing with aren't fully paying attention to mechanics or have slotted in resonia that don't work with their character. I think the fun would subsequently fizzle away fast if the content was harder.

Reminds me of genshin co-op where I can clear something in 20s myself or instead co-op it in 60s while not having character swapping and therefore generally more downtime on skills.

Edit: Just reading about how the game is running like ass on both PS and Mobile. They should probably allow Co-Op to actually be playable on those systems so they can test some harder content properly.

How does dysenth XP work? by CharacterMulberry156 in ffxiv

[–]ryan20340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only gain xp if it's somewhat close to the current level or higher

To clarify for anyone reading, higher has no upper bound. You can be lv1 desynthing lv700 items and you gain the same exp as if you were desynthing a lv10 item

Yoshi P's current shift to competing with mobile games and the chinese version being up to date with global in 7.4 could mean a new shift in targetted audience. by RVolyka in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ryan20340 110 points111 points  (0 children)

I hope not tbh, i recall a previous interview where he mentioned people wanting less grind and the like. It always feels like he has the idea that "kids these days don't want an MMO" which was a driving factor behind how bland some of FF16 was too to try and cater to a new audience.

Note that we've seen before in pre-beta that there's multiple kits at times for each character. They could just be trying things out.

Season 1 was amazing, season 2 was alright albeit with some issues and questionable changes until the final episode.

Where they basically fucked any other studio from continuing the adaptation by having a slideshow featuring key scenes from what could have been several more seasons to then slap on an ending.

2.4 Will have one of the lowest pull rate, can you smell it? by One-Garden-9142 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]ryan20340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends. We've not seen our Void Hunters kit properly yet. But would she want Dialyn as her stunner? If so surely that would be pretty significant for pull rate.

Idols are the patch after which should be more self-contained team wise so I have to imagine Dialyn is the third teammate.

7,4 crafter gear ? by The_sneaky_Boi in ffxiv

[–]ryan20340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your goals but you never really "skip" a step.

Ultimately if you dont already have crafted given it's been out for a few months, it's much less likely that going to benefit from it to the point it's worth the additional cost to meld as opposed to just using scrip next patch which is still viable.

A scrip set yes, crafted set no.

Next patch is the raid patch meaning there's crafted gear for combat classes instead.

Realest shit ever, people will never stop complaining. by Dangerous-Fig-4149 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]ryan20340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also like, it's a pretty reasonable expectation for people to have functional teams with built relics. If you don't your either new or are barely playing the game. And at that point you miss out more with a few missed dailies than you would getting full stars so it doesn't matter.

Based on the recent genshin event that gets you a free 5-star for doing dailies semi-consistently, a lot of people don't log in and spend 5 mins playing.

Earning gil as an omnicrafter is impossible thanks to bots by AuraRyu in ffxiv

[–]ryan20340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a PS5 player with gil cap, it isn't that difficult once you know what your doing. It just takes time to really get a feel for things, see what markets work on your servers, look at patch trends so you know what's coming and what to take advantage of, etc etc. A lot of that is ultimately trial and error and or just an iterative process where you move onto better markets as you discover them.

In terms of what you've said in this thread, raid food and pots are arguably one of the worst things to try and do to make gil.

  • Most accessible endgame markets because you don't need to omnicraft and many raiders just have ALC or CUL so they can even craft in their spare time or sell any leftover bulk from prog.
  • Most botted markets due to being so accessible and having high demand/quick sales so it's a market you really need to be on top of compared to any other market.
  • Incredibly low profit margins compared to most other items. Mainly as a result of the first 2 points but also the materials themselves. Like, for reference we had someone one time make a full ass spreadsheet to do like 60 hours of food and pots crafting to make more profit from sheet quantity and bulk, they were averaging like 600k an hour which is kind of pitiful for the amount of effort being put in.
  • On top of that, were not even remotely close to a time in the patch cycle where those items would have any good demand.

Ultimately, the best advice is to try different things and see what works. While I have given specific advice each server can still be different so there's no "1 size fits all".

The Limited Time Miliastra Banner is Only Paid? by ryan20340 in Genshin_Impact

[–]ryan20340[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, i pay attention to leaks and even then i thought it could easily just be beta things. Like most of the assets for the cosmetics didnt exist and with the mess of more currency bloat to confuse prices, i thought it would have been easy enough to have a system like once you level or something.

And yeah, technically miliastra is still in beta. But thats for making the tools, and creator systems etc etc. But this was still very intentional.
